Qin Wenhao arrived quickly. When he saw the unlocked main gate, he knew Old Xie hadn’t been lying to him.

His wife was really back.

Full of excitement, he pushed the gate open.

"Honey—"

He then hurried into the main house but didn’t see anyone.

He did, however, see a suitcase inside the room.

He couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

’So she really is back.’

He quickly turned and went back outside.

And then he heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom—

Qin Wenhao smiled. Knowing his wife’s penchant for cleanliness, it made sense she would shower right after getting back.

Now that he knew where she was, he was no longer in a rush.

Fu Mingxue had been on a train for several days, so showering and washing her hair took a considerable amount of time.

When she came out, she saw Qin Wenhao standing in the courtyard.

"What are you doing standing here like a dummy?"

"Honey, you’re back!"

Fu Mingxue thought his words were a little silly.

"Can’t you see me standing right here?"

Qin Wenhao just grinned widely.

"It’s noon, you must be hungry! How about we go to the canteen to eat? Or should I get the food and bring it back here?"

Fu Mingxue was feeling a little lethargic.

She didn’t really feel like walking to the canteen.

"You can go get us some food then! I don’t want to move."

The moment Qin Wenhao heard his wife say that, he knew she was tired.

He immediately said, "Alright, I’ll go get the food now. By the way, Honey, what would you like to eat?"

"Anything’s fine. You can just pick something."

"Okay!" Qin Wenhao knew what she liked to eat anyway.

He turned and walked out.

But he quickly popped back in. "Honey, just leave your clothes. I’ll wash them when I get back."

Only then did he leave.

Fu Mingxue happened to be idle just then, and she wasn’t about to actually leave her clothes unwashed.

’Besides, summer clothes are quick to wash anyway.’

By the time Qin Wenhao returned, Fu Mingxue had already washed the clothes she’d changed out of.

"Honey, didn’t I tell you to leave the clothes?"

"It was nothing. By the way, what did you get? It looks like a lot."

Qin Wenhao laid out all the food.

There was braised pork in soy sauce, stir-fried potato slices, a pickled vegetable dish, and an egg drop soup.

’It really was quite a spread.’

"I haven’t had food from the canteen here in so long. I’ve really missed the taste."

"Then eat up."

Qin Wenhao handed her a bowl of rice and a pair of chopsticks.

"How long are you staying this time?"

"I’m not sure, but probably a month or two. Even if I have to go to the base, it’ll just be to ship out from there."

When Qin Wenhao heard his wife would be staying for a while, he was overjoyed.

’This way, I can spend so much more time with my wife.’

"By the way, you went back to Beijing last time. Is everyone at home doing okay?"

"They’re all doing great. By the way, there’s something you probably don’t know yet!"

"What is it?" Qin Wenhao asked.

"Let’s eat first. I’ll tell you after we’re done." Fu Mingxue had spoken too soon.

’After all, talking about it during a meal would be a real appetite killer.’

"—Alright then." Qin Wenhao placed a piece of lean pork into his wife’s bowl.

They both ate rather quickly. Neither of them was the type to savor their food.

After the meal, Qin Wenhao gathered the food containers and washed them.

Only then did he ask, "Honey, what was it you were going to tell me earlier?"

"That Luo Lanqing showed up. Did you know?"

Qin Wenhao didn’t immediately register what she’d said. The name didn’t ring a bell.

"Who’s Luo Lanqing?"
