Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 622: Missed You So Much
Mrs. Qin brought the things into the living room and set them down.
As for the meat, she had Aunt Li take it to the kitchen.
Only then did she have a moment to speak with Fu Mingxue. "My goodness, you’ve gotten so thin!"
Fu Mingxue chuckled. "Mom, that’s the exact same first thing my own mother said to me. But I haven’t really lost weight, I’ve just firmed up, so I probably look thinner to you."
"When are you leaving this time?"
When Mrs. Qin asked this, the twins perked up their ears to listen.
They were also very concerned about the answer.
"I can’t stay long. I have to make a trip to the Canton Fair."
Seeing that it was for work, Mrs. Qin didn’t ask any more questions.
The women of the Qin family sat together for a chat.
They found they had plenty to talk about.
The twins were being exceptionally well-behaved. They didn’t run off to play, but simply sat quietly on their mother’s lap.
The two children didn’t feel distant from their mother, despite not having seen her for a long time.
If anything, they were even more attached to her.
Before long, Mr. Qin and Qin Yi returned, one right after the other.
Following behind them were the siblings, Qin Yue and Qin Ruqiao.
They were quite surprised to see Fu Mingxue sitting in the living room.
"Mingxue, you’re back!"
"Sister-in-law!"
Fu Mingxue set the children down.
She stood and greeted them both. "Dad! Brother-in-law!"
"Did you just arrive this afternoon?" Mr. Qin asked.
Fu Mingxue nodded. "Yes."
Mr. Qin was also thrilled to see Fu Mingxue.
Just then, Qin Yue and Qin Ruqiao hurried over to Fu Mingxue.
"Auntie!"
"You’re so sweet!" Fu Mingxue was also very fond of the siblings.
Mrs. Qin immediately said, "Your auntie brought you some gifts. They’re all on the table. Go on and pick them out yourselves."
Hearing this, the siblings’ eyes instantly lit up.
They scampered over.
Then they dug out some toys and a few books.
The books and toys Fu Mingxue had brought were all age-appropriate for the two of them.
So, the brother and sister loved them.
Hugging their gifts, the siblings ran back to Fu Mingxue and thanked her in unison, "Thank you for the gifts, Auntie!"
Fu Mingxue beamed. "You’re welcome!"
At this, the twins grew unhappy. They each tugged on their mother’s hand.
"Our older cousins got presents—but we didn’t!"
Fu Mingxue looked down and saw their crestfallen faces. She immediately laughed and said, "I didn’t forget about you! Mommy bought you gifts too, but they’re at home. You’ll see them when we go back later."
The twins cheered up the moment they heard that.
Their faces immediately broke into happy smiles again.
Mrs. Qin reached out and gave the twins a gentle nudge.
"Go play with your older cousins for a while. We’ll call you when your mom is about to leave."
The twins had been eyeing their older cousins’ new toys covetously, so when their grandmother suggested it, they looked to their mother for permission.
Fu Mingxue patted their heads. "Go on. I’ll call you when it’s time to go home."
With that, the twins were reassured.
They then ran off to play with Qin Yue and his sister.
Once the four children were gone, the adults’ conversation became even more lively.
Mr. Qin asked Fu Mingxue a few things about her work.
Fu Mingxue gave him a brief update.
As dinnertime approached, Fu Mingxue called the two children back to get ready to leave.
The Qin family didn’t insist they stay this time; after all, the mother and her children needed to have dinner too.
However, they did tell Fu Mingxue to bring the children over again tomorrow.
Fu Mingxue drove the two children home on her tricycle.
