"Jiali, don’t be so cold to me. My heart aches." Gao Qiang clutched his heart, his expression one of extreme agony.

"Hmph." Xu Jiali scoffed. Thinking of the cruel things Gao Qiang had said to her, she found her heart no longer ached. It was perfectly calm, without a single ripple.

Her hatred for him now was as absolute as her love for him once was.

"Jiali." Gao Qiang suddenly dropped to his knees, begging for Xu Jiali’s forgiveness. "I was wrong, Jiali. I truly know I was wrong. I didn’t know what was good for me. I must have been possessed. Jiali, I never should have said those cruel things to you. Jiali, that wasn’t what I really meant. I love you, how could I ever bear to hurt you? It was Qiao Wei! Qiao Wei misled me, it was all her..."

"Qiao Wei didn’t force you to say those cruel things to me," Xu Jiali cut in, unable to listen to any more of it.

"She didn’t force me, but she egged me on! If she hadn’t shown up, we would still be happy and in love. Jiali, it was Qiao Wei! She’s the one who destroyed our relationship! She’s the one who tainted our pure love." Gao Qiang shifted all the blame to Qiao Wei. He admitted he had made a mistake, but faced with Qiao Wei’s advances, he argued, it was hard not to be tempted.

"Pfft!" Qin Mei couldn’t help but laugh out loud. ’Gao Qiang really has some nerve,’ she thought. ’No wonder he had Xu Jiali wrapped so tightly around his finger, making the love-struck girl act as if she would marry no one but him.’

’To marry him, she’d even threatened to go on a hunger strike to force me and Jing Qi to lend her money. The best thing Qiao Wei ever did was agree to Jie Jingchen’s plan to seduce Gao Qiang and pull Xu Jiali out of that romantic vortex.’

Gao Qiang felt thoroughly humiliated. He flew into a rage and glared at Qin Mei. "You’re also to blame for ruining things between me and Jiali!"

"Telling Qiao Wei to seduce you? That was my idea. I gave it to Jie Jingchen," Qin Mei said, looking quite pleased with herself.

"You..." Gao Qiang stared at Qin Mei, his bloodshot eyes filled with a monstrous hatred. ’So she was the real culprit all along.’ "I’m going to kill you."

"Gao Qiang, don’t you dare!" Seeing Gao Qiang lunge at Qin Mei with a murderous expression, Xu Jiali was terrified. She started to rush forward, only to see Qin Mei effortlessly dislocate Gao Qiang’s jaw.

Gao Qiang’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. His flailing was both comical and pathetic as pained whimpers escaped his lips.

Qin Mei pulled a handkerchief from her pocket, wiped her hands, and tossed it away. Her stunning face was cold and severe, and her cool voice dripped with mockery. "You really don’t know your own limits."

"WHIMPER..." Gao Qiang cried, completely terrified.

"Xiao Mei, are you okay?" Xu Jiali asked, her face full of concern. She hurried over and looked Qin Mei up and down. Seeing that she was completely unharmed, her tense expression finally relaxed.

"Auntie, Uncle Zhang agreed to your discharge," Qin Mei said to Xu Jiali with a smile.

"Really?" Xu Jiali was surprised. She’d been trying to get discharged for ages, without any success. "I’ll go pack my things."

"Sit still, I’ll pack." Qin Mei helped Xu Jiali sit on the edge of the bed while she packed for her. ’After all, Xu Jiali is a patient. You can’t have a patient packing her own things.’

After tossing what wasn’t needed, there wasn’t much to pack. Qin Mei then left with Xu Jiali. By the time Dean Zhang arrived at the ward, they were already gone. Gao Qiang had gone to find a doctor to reset his jaw, so naturally, Dean Zhang didn’t see him either.

"That was fast," Dean Zhang said irritably.

"Dean!" a nurse called out, rushing over anxiously.

Dean Zhang massaged his temples. "You need to remain calm in these situations. Don’t be so flustered. Now, what is it?"
