Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 992 Scream of death

Chapter 992  Scream of death

The Ersatz soldier tripped from his own momentum, shocked by the instant change in speed.

He couldn’t move. That deep, growling voice seemed to bring up an instinctual fear into him.

He felt like he was transported into the primeval era. And he was standing right in front of a monstrous beast, just a short distance away from its disastrous maws.

And if he moved even a single bit, the monster would bite down on his chewy carcass and swallow him whole.

This instinctual fear seemed to not just be a mental problem. But a physical one as well. The Artifice in his chest refused to supplement his legs with any Aubility Power. It was shaken and traumatized by that voice.

“What…”

Jaku, on the other hand, simply shrugged at his own feat. He didn’t know how he did that, but he sure as hell was going to take advantage of it.

He pointed at the soldier.

And suddenly, ten Mini Drones manifested into the air. The small cannons on their underside glowed with prismatic power.

“Wait…”

Before the soldier could even plead for his life, the drones shot their Unity Guns directly into the man’s torso and one into his head.

Death was instant.

Jaku didn’t take a second look at the smoking corpse and walked towards the room.

He didn’t care about sharpening his sword skill like some honorable samurai. As long as the job was done at the fastest time possible, then he was fine with it.

He just wanted to sleep.

So, he walked through the ornate doors and found himself inside one of the Stronghold’s treasure rooms.

Umisu found herself in a similar situation as Jaku. She and a couple of other Orcs took the right side of the castle, intending to reach the unmapped treasure room there.

And even though most, if not all, of the soldiers were outside fighting the Shadow Orcs, Umisu was still checking the corners to see if there was anyone still there.

She nervously peeked through the tunnels. And once she found it unoccupied, then she walked ahead with the Shadow Orcs.

She was only a 3rd stage Body Formation Maugnetic, after all.

Her only job in this invasion was to act as a distraction. She would take the attention of the guard stationed at the treasure room, and let the Mini Drones bombard him with Unity Guns.

Then, her job was done. All she had to do then was to find the treasure room and hope that the stolen Key was there.

“Please tell me it’s not there,” she muttered to herself.

As selfish as it may seem, she didn’t want to find the Key. If she was the one who found it, she’d have an additional mission to protect it.

“Please tell me the guard isn’t there…,” she prayed. “Please tell me the guard isn’t there…”

Unbeknownst to her, they finally reached the last tunnel leading to the treasure room while she was in the middle of this chant.

“Who goes there?”

“!!!!”

Completely taken by surprise, Umisu felt her heart stop for a second.

“Kyaaaaa!” she screamed, completely taking the 7th stage guard by surprise.

“Woah, woah, settle down!” the guard said, plugging his ears.

Somehow, the situation between them became completely reversed. Umisu was supposed to be the one trying to silence the guard from shouting and alerting the other soldiers!

Yet now, the soldier was the one feeling as if he was the one who did wrong.

“If you aren’t going to stop, then I’ll have to silence your head!” he said, taking out his falcata sword.

Mist emanated out of the soldier’s head, forming the image of a metal-like hippopotamus frankenstein monster.

The appearance of his 7th stage Aubility Power created a shockwave of aura.

But strangely enough, Umisu remained unbothered.

She was still screaming, holding her chest as if she was in pain… or holding something back.

Unnerved, the soldier raised his falcata and attacked Umisu. His body disappeared, only to reappear directly in front of the screaming demi-human.

“Get away from me!” she screamed, pushing her hands forward.

This looked accidental. She wasn’t even paying attention to the Ersatz soldier.

Yet, it affected him nonetheless. The high-pitched shriek rang through his brain, completely disrupting his train of thought.

It was like his brain short-circuited. He couldn’t think. And most of all, his body couldn’t think.

This included the Artifice in his heart.

The soldier, with his mental still unstable, forcefully continued his swing towards Umisu.

His sword swung through the air, before he felt a great resistance stop its momentum.

He looked down, seeing a green spear shaft clashing against the blade of his falcata.

His 7th stage Aubility Power was being rebuffed by a 3rd stage Maugnetic?!

Even with his mental state staggered, he knew that this didn’t make sense at all.

But then he noticed. His arms felt normal. The Aubility Power threads that imbued his physical body with an immense amount of strength equal to that of a hippopotamus, was completely gone!

He couldn’t access his greatest Aubility!

“Get away!” Umisu screamed.

She swung her spear with great force.

The soldier tried to defend, but found his falcata slipping away from his fingers as if he had the grip of a baby!

And before he could even understand what happened, he felt the force of nature strike him directly in his chest.

He flew backwards, hitting the ornate wooden door behind him and causing it to crack.

Dizzy, the soldier looked up.

He saw ten sparkling lights hovering above him.

He raised his hand to defend, but realized that his sword had already slipped away from his fingers.

“What—”

Before he could say anything more, the Mini Drones unleashed their Unity Guns.

Prismatic beams shot through his body, killing him instantly.

Then, silence.

Umisu opened her eyes cautiously, wary that the danger was not over.

But it was. The corpse was still smoking from all the burned holes in its body.

“Omg! That was lucky…,” she said, heaving a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, the Shadow Orcs behind her shivered in fear. They vowed then and there that they would never be on the bad side of Miss Umisu.
