Chapter 824: Jaku’s roar
Chapter 824: Jaku’s roar
A tremor reverberated in the ground, coursing from Jaku’s center spreading outwards until it reached the two Werewolves coming for him.
The two were in the middle of using their Aubilities drawn from their Dao Heart, evidenced by the glowing tattoos that were sprawled all around their bodies.
The one on the left used a power from deep within his inner wolf, his legs starting to grow twice its size. Long, brown hair began to grow outwards from his ankles to below his knees, making it look like the guy had fur boots on.
This was a power that allowed the Werewolf to increase his speed by a substantial amount, basically drawing from his own Wolf form.
Meanwhile, the other Werewolf tapped into his own Wolf’s explosive upper body. His tattoos that were sprawled across his chest began to glow, allowing it to balloon in size. This power was meant to restrain someone, allowing the Werewolf to exert tremendous pressure that was enough to crush a stone into powder.
The two Werewolves, with their powers activated, ran after Jaku with the intent to restrain him.
But as soon as that voice reverberated through the air, one of them stopped in place.
“Stay back, you dogs!”
The Werewolf with furry legs was stricken by an invisible pressure, his body unable to move even a single bit.
The glowing tattoos of a bonfire etched on both of his upper knees began to dwindle, eventually turning dimmer and dimmer until it finally turned dormant.
The power that was gathering at his feet weakened, causing an imbalance within the Werewolf. He expected to dash at an extremely fast speed, but the weakness in his lower body forced him to tumble forwards, head smacking into the cold hard ground.
However, the other Werewolf remained unaffected. He charged towards Jaku at his normal speed, his 5th stage Dao allowing him to catch up to the Dragonborn and restrain him by hugging his chest and pinning his arms to the side.
“Urghh…,” Jaku groaned, struggling to escape from the Werewolf’s grasp. “Fine, fine! I lost!”
The Werewolf let go of his grip, allowing Jaku to drop down on his own two feet.
Jaku massaged his shoulders, his face showing unpleasantness. He was extremely displeased with himself because his speed wasn’t enough to let him escape.
But contrary to his sentiment on this little sparring session, Michael and Chief Lupan were in a state of complete awe and shock.
Chief Lupan’s expression was more of elation and relief.
His guesses were right!
That voice that Jaku produced was an ‘Ancient Roar’! It was a tyrannical power, causing one of the Werewolves to lose his control over his own Aubility Power, making him completely powerless.
Michael, on the other hand, saw things a little bit more clarity than the Brownblood Chief. With his Drone watching, he saw the moment when Jaku’s strange voice was produced from his throat.
In that instant, an orange glow reminiscent of a GodForge piece emanated from Jaku’s larynx.
And with those words, ‘Stay back, you dogs,’ a net made out of Aubility Power threads shot out from Jaku and encompassed the whole training area, as far as the sound could reach.
It was like a spider web had manifested in the air.
When one of the Werewolves awakened his Dao Heart, the Aubility Power threads that was supposed to wrap around his legs and empower it with a physical boost, suddenly entangled themselves onto the webbing in the air.
More accurately, the two threads seemed to be attracted to each other, magnetized by some unknown force, and twisted into each other like a weave.
That was the reason why the Werewolf suddenly felt his power weaken, why he couldn’t move his body the way he wanted to.
But strangely enough, the other Werewolf was able to move through the Aubility Power web as if he was a ghost.
The threads that wrapped around his chest didn’t interact with the webbing at all. It was as if the two were in a completely different dimension. This allowed the Werewolf to catch up to Jaku and use his Dao Heart as normal.
Why did the voice react differently? Michael asked himself. Why would the Aubility Power threads entangle with each other?
Michael then remembered that each thread was distinctly different from each other.
Pure Aubility Power, one that was stored in the GodForge pieces in the heart, was made up of individual strings.
Only once when a Maugnetic used their Aubility Power did it transform into something else.
Those strings started to bend and knot in a completely new shape and pattern.
Michael guessed that those specific knots and bends were what allowed Aubility Powers to produce the wide ranges of ‘magic’ amongst Maugnetics. It was what allowed those strings to become a power that ranged from a simple physical boost, to a power that could make time stop entirely.
Is it possible that those two threads were similar to each other?
The two couldn’t be completely identical, but perhaps there was some degree of resemblance between them that caused the two to suddenly entangle with each other.
Jaku’s Aubility Power is lightning based… The Werewolf’s Dao Power is based on his inner Wolf’s physical capabilities.
Upon first thought, there wasn’t much overlap between the two.
But then he realized.
It’s speed.
Jaku’s lightning allowed him to be imbued with tremendous speed!
Meanwhile, the Werewolf’s physical legs were strengthened in order to boost his speed as well!
That was the similarity between both!
The only conclusion that Michael could come up with was that—
“His Ancient Roar only works on powers based on speed,” Chief Lupan muttered, reaching the same conclusion as Michael.
Curious, Michael approached him. “What does this mean?”
Chief Lupan’s face was still in the middle of processing this information. Yet even then, there was a smile slowly growing on his face.
“This means that Jaku has complete dominion over any Aubility Power based on speed. His Ancient Roar allows him to disable others haste, only making himself empowered within the battlefield!”
This realization sent a wave of awe and shock in both Michael and Chief Lupan.
Michael had never heard of such an overpowered ability. Complete dominion was right. With a single word, he could make everyone else around him as slow as a normal person!
It was as if only he deserved to be fast!
“This is a revelation!”
The original Ancient Roar worked on every single Aubility Power, disabling them completely.
But even with this inferior version that Jaku had, it was still a completely dominating power in a world devoid of anything else better.
Michael walked over to Jaku and patted him on the shoulders. “Looks like you got something overpowered. Congratulations,” he said.
But despite learning that he had such a power, Jaku was less than enthused.
“I can make everyone else around me slow?” he asked, disappointed.
“Is that so bad?” Michael asked him sarcastically.
“Yes! Why would I want my enemies slow! I want them to be fast so that the fight would be over sooner rather than later!”
Michael gave him a love knock on the head.
“You idiot. Then, just defeat them while they’re slow!”
