Chapter 669: GodForge for officers
Chapter 669: GodForge for officers
Angela was a counselor for the Duchess. She was in charge of all the negotiations that the royal family had over any business or dealings in the world. She makes sure that the deal the Duchess was getting would be the best possible outcome for their group.
“Being a Counselor is in complete contrast to the training that a diplomat was trained for. Instead of being unbiased, Counselors had to learn how to be extremely biased towards their own party.”
Michael likened a Counselor to an attorney or a lawyer retained by a company. They serve only the company, and no one else.
“You don’t know how many people will be disappointed once they find out that Yuna became a Counselor for somebody else. That little sister of mine is incredibly sought-after. And rightly so.
She is the most talented out of all of us. And that talent has drawn a lot of offers from top-level companies to become their Counselor. There’s so many companies trying to hire her that everyone decided that Yuna should become a Diplomat instead. That’s why she trained to become one.
But now, she’s coming back to our estate to change that. She’s now trying to learn the ways of becoming a Counselor.”
Michael never thought that Yuna would be choosing such a major decision in her life because of him. She never really talked about any of that. She just told him that she liked the good that the Reborn company could do in the world.
“That’s her decision. I’ll support her either way,” he declared.
Angela looked at him, narrowing her eyes to try and discern his thoughts. Only after a few seconds did she finally nod in satisfaction.
“I see your genuinity. You won’t make my sister’s decision a bad one,” she said.
Then, she quickly turned around and cast some spells towards the vault. Multiple magic circles appeared coinciding with the wall, each one complex and stacked upon each other for encryption.
Eventually, some kind of mechanism activated, with the circular vault doors opening to let Michael see all of the treasures hidden inside it.
Angela walked inside the vault and eventually came out carrying five shiny silver boxes with a stainless steel-like surface polish.
She walked over towards him and handed him the boxes.
As soon as it landed on his hands, he could feel his heart pulsating with reactivity. It immediately noticed the GodForge pieces in its vicinity, urging him to absorb it as one of its own.
He reigned himself in. These GodForge pieces are not for him.
“I bid you good luck on your journey…and take care of my sister for me. She’s precious,” Angela said, bowing to him.
He bowed back. “I’ll try my best,” he replied.
Now that he got the GodForge pieces in his hands, he immediately teleported into their headquarters in Metropolis.
Once he was in the office, he immediately heard the familiar bickering of the siblings.
“I told you to finish up those paperworks yesterday!” Sheina shouted. “And you don’t even have an excuse. You didn’t practice your fighting skills at all!”
Zion waved away his sister’s concern. “Pshh, it’s better to play a game rather than do work!”
As usual, the three troublemakers and their one forgetful uncle had gathered to play their board games. Fudge, Zion, Vivi, and Grieve sat in a circle, passing around Uno cards with excitement.
Sheina shook her head, disappointed. Then finally, she noticed Michael’s arrival.
“Lord Michael. I apologize for what you saw,” she said, bowing. “Zion has been acting up a lot recently. He’s just not doing any of the work that he’s supposed to do.”
“That’s just how Zion is,” he replied.
“But Lord Michael, he’s doing even worse than Jaku.”
“…okay, that is a problem.”
If Zion was doing less work than the self-proclaimed laziest person in the entire world, then maybe there was a problem.
“Don’t worry, Lord Michael. I’ll straighten him out,” she assured him.
Michael didn’t really care because he wanted to let the Dragonborns do what they wanted.
“Anyway, I want all of you to gather in a circle. I have a surprise waiting,” he said.
As soon as he said that, both Fudge and Zion immediately got out of their seats and pestered Michael to no end.
“Surpise?! A gift?!”
“Show me! Show me!”
Eventually, Sheina had all of the major officers of Reborn gather for a meeting.
There was their CEO Castelle, the four Dragonborns, Fudge, Grieve, and the two Orc Chieftains Sasuki and Narito, and many more officers in charge of the Nation of Reborn.
“The reason I called you all here is because I wanted to give you these.”
He laid out all five boxes on the table for everyone to see. They all looked very interested to see what was inside.
“This is what will take our company to the next level,” he said, twisting the top of each box, and suddenly, the box’s top surface folded up into one long thin metal sheet, letting everyone take a peek from above.
They saw a tiny metal piece floating in the box, less than the size of a fingernail. It was engulfed in a big white fire that didn’t seem to be affected by the breeze of the air conditioning unit.
Everyone felt a tug in their hearts. The Dragonborns clutched their hearts, feeling the call of the metal into their bodies. They didn’t know anything about this metal, but they knew that it could only belong inside their hearts.
“Lord Michael… this is…”
“These are GodForge pieces,” he revealed. “Each one is able to turn a normal person into a Maugnetic.”
Zion’s eyes lit up. “Like that cool Diva above your head?! You mean to tell me that if I have this, then I could also have cool-looking metal arms like you?!”
“A Diva differs from person to person. No two can be the same,” he explained.
“Still! I want one!” Zion said, reaching towards one of the boxes before Sheina stopped him.
“Hey! That’s not for you! Only Lord Michael can decide which one of us can have the privilege of becoming a Maugnetic.”
Sheina straightened her posture with a proud look on her face. It looked like even she wasn’t immune to the call of the GodForge pieces.
“You guys should decide which one of you will get one first. Right now, only five of you can get it. But in the future, everyone will have a chance,” he promised.
Everyone looked at each other, all hesitant to be the first one to throw their names into consideration. Despite the silence, everyone was eager to become a Maugnetic.
“I think the first honor should go to the most senior officer of Reborn,” said Sheina. “I think Miss Castelle should get the first piece.”
Castelle was Michael’s first employee, so it was only natural for the privilege to become hers.
However, the CEO maid quickly refused. “It will only be a waste. It’s better if these GodForge pieces will go to the Dragonborns. It’s only logical. They are our strongest fighters, and we’ll have to rely on them regarding problems of strength.”
The other officers of Reborn agreed wholeheartedly with Castelle’s decision.
