Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 1367: Starting a rumor
Hearing this, the Starlight Enterprise messenger couldn’t help but express his shock. "I see... magic, is it? I don’t think that we’ve seen an item that could regain it... is there?"
Michael smiled, knowing that the man had been immediately fooled.
"Well, I can’t prove or deny anything," he replied.
"What kind of item are you searching for?"
"Well," Michael said, pausing as if he was debating whether or not he should reveal the truth. "I am searching for an Antique. An ancient bone from the Ancient Era itself. I’ve been trying to find more of them, to no avail."
The Starlight Enterprise messenger awkwardly laughed. "I don’t think we have that in our treasury, hahaha."
But Michael could see in the back of his eyes that the man was having a lot of thoughts in his head, most of which were regarding the bombshell of a revelation that Michal had just given them.
Eventually though, their conversation continued on with the duel. They discussed the different things that they would be betting in this Sanctum Duel, including some of the details of the very fight itself.
However, the negotiation stalled. Michael didn’t have anything that he wanted from the Starlight Enterprise. And they, in turn, didn’t want to give up too many territories in return. They seemed to have learned the lesson from the Western Pole’s mistake.
Yes, they were still confident of their victory. However, they would now become more wary of the risk and only give up on territories that weren’t that useful to them, which Michael, of course declined.
Eventually, the messenger left the Rebornian camp. He would be going back to his company to report back to his leaders so that the negotiation could continue.
But of course, the little tidbit of information that they learned earlier was also going to be discussed.
"Reborn? They’re trying to find a way to return magic?"
"Hmmm... if this is true, then this will definitely be something that the Guild of Arcana will be interested in."
"IF. If their words were true. We don’t know if they’re just bluffing or not. Perhaps it’s just a negotiation tactic in order to make use of a lot more resources than we initially wanted to bet."
"But... it’s Reborn."
That word basically silenced all of their doubts. Yes, it was highly unlikely that they were able to find a way to make magic return without having destroyed the Ersatz Nascent Spirit cultivator who had created it in the first place.
However, when it came to Reborn, they learned not to compare him with normal standards. This company and their anomalous leader was simply far too talented, far too lucky, and far too out-of-the-realm-of-normal that perhaps it was truly possible that they found a way to return magic.
They were, after all, able to find a way to return the Ancient Roar into the world.
Because of that, the Starlight Enterprise began to spread rumors. Reborn was looking to return magic to its rightful place in the world.
And eventually, of course, this reached the ears of the Guild of Arcana. Exactly as Michael intended. He knew that they were desperate to pull on any threads regarding the return of magic. Seberus assured him that this would work, and that they would pull in a few large fishes in the sea of wizards.
Eventually, the Shadow Orcs finally noticed movement in the Queens region.
A war was happening at the moment!
A war between a subcompany from the Oscorpe Conglomerate, and a subcompany from the Hepheasteus Clan.
"BU TO TO! We’ve been seeing a lot of scuffles. A lot of fighting, Supreme Leader. It seems that the Oscorpe Conglomerate was the one who initiated the war, seemingly out of nowhere."
Michael nodded in his chair as he considered the possibilities. Did his plan work?
And eventually, a few days passed, and a new messenger came into the Rebornian camp.
It was from none other than the Ease of Vindication company! The very same one that was secretly owned and managed by the Oscorpe Conglomerate.
"Welcome," Michael greeted the entourage of messengers. "I’ll warn you now. I don’t think I’ll be accepting your duel if the spoils are not up to my standards."
The messengers simply smiled amongst themselves, as if they were completely confident about themselves.
"Oh but you will accept," said the arrogant messenger. "We have what you need."
Michael laughed at first, before he acted as if he had just realized what they were trying to mean. He’d probably win an Oscar for such acting.
"What I want... do you mean—"
The messengers smiled. "Yes. We are currently in possession of the Antique that you so wanted to possess for the longest time."
It was at this point that Michael showed impatience in his face and his body movement. He started tapping his feet. He started to sweat. He showed all the signs of someone desperate.
"How can I know you’re telling the truth?"
The messengers nodded. "It is a large bone dated back to the Ancient Era itself. Once you accept our duel, we will bring the Antique right in front of your camp. If it’s not genuine, then we can immediately stop the duel."
The Ease of Vindication company looked like they had the complete upper hand in this negotiation. They had Michael dancing on the top of their palms.
But that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Michael had baited them. He knew that they were desperate to fight a Sanctum Duel against him, so he used that in order to make them bring him anything he wanted to have.
And right now, he wanted another Antique. However, he knew that he didn’t know who had the Antique in their hands. But he knew that he didn’t have to.
So, with a little bit of rumors and manipulation, he was able to make a believable lie.
And it worked. The Oscorpe Conglomerate did all the hard work and procured for him an Antique!
