Reborn as an Ugly Wife in the Countryside
Chapter 1917 - 1919: I’m Fine, I’m Used to It
Chapter 1917: Chapter 1919: I’m Fine, I’m Used to It
Yang Qiu didn’t take this matter to heart at all. She had once faced death before, and back then, she had endured much more criticism, with far harsher words. She had gotten through all of that, so how could she let such a small thing affect her this deeply? It was unlikely.
It was just because she mentioned wanting a live-in son-in-law, that Wang Kui from the Xuntian Escort Agency got dragged into this. She felt quite embarrassed about it and wondered whether she should go apologize to Wang Kui in person.
That day, she didn’t go to the Xiangxiang Cloth Shop but stayed behind to help out in the shop. She happened to see Wang Kui passing by and hurried out to catch him, "Brother Wang, Brother Wang, wait a moment."
Wang Kui didn’t expect to be stopped by Yang Qiu. Turning around, he saw Yang Qiu running over, her face was flushed, probably from running, and he anxiously asked, "Miss Yang, don’t worry. Is something wrong? Do you need something?"
When Yang Qiu reached him, she clutched her chest, took a few deep breaths, then stood upright and said, "Brother Wang, I wanted to tell you not to take the rumors outside seriously. This is all my fault. If I hadn’t talked about wanting a live-in son-in-law, you wouldn’t have been dragged into this. I’m truly sorry."
Wang Kui didn’t expect that Yang Qiu had chased after him just to say this, "It’s okay. I didn’t think it through and caused harm to your reputation. It should be me apologizing to you."
"No, no, it’s all my fault, all my fault," Yang Qiu quickly waved her hand to say.
"Brother Wang, it seems there’s no good solution to this matter. We just have to wait for some time, and eventually, people will stop talking about it. It’s just that you have to suffer for a while."
In Yang Qiu’s view, spreading rumors about a man becoming a live-in son-in-law was indeed an injustice to him. After all, no one with any prospects would think of becoming a live-in son-in-law; not many would be willing.
"I’m fine, I’m a grown man, it’s not a big deal if people say things. It’s just you, are you alright?" Wang Kui asked with concern.
"I’m fine, I’m used to it," Yang Qiu smiled at Wang Kui, revealing a row of white teeth.
That smile in Wang Kui’s eyes looked very beautiful, but those words made him feel a pang of heartache.
He wanted to open his mouth to say something comforting, but realized no comforting words came to mind.
Yang Qiu didn’t sense anything wrong with Wang Kui’s emotions; she just felt that chasing after him might have delayed him, so she hurriedly said, "Brother Wang, you still have other things to do, so I won’t disturb you anymore."
Then she turned around and ran straight into the Four Seasons Department Store.
Watching Yang Qiu’s back, Wang Kui shook his head, said nothing, and left.
Upon entering the store, Yang Ming’s mother immediately asked, "Xiaoqiu, why were you running in such a hurry?"
Yang Ming’s mother had been coming to the store for the past few days too. Now, just like Yang Qiu, she was running back and forth between home and the store to help out.
While tidying up the goods, she saw her daughter running out like the wind, so she chased after her to see. Eventually, she saw her daughter talking to a tall, well-built man.
Seeing them standing together, she suddenly recalled what her third daughter-in-law had said, as the scene was quite similar.
So she started wondering in her heart if that man was Wang Kui. His appearance was indeed not bad. Being well-built wasn’t an issue; in the countryside, people preferred finding someone strong-looking, who seemed capable of hard work. It was generally better than being a short, skinny guy.
