Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito
Chapter 2848 - 9: Fantasy
Don’t be fooled by how calm the Tenth-Degree Subspace looks; in reality, the entire space inside is shifting around in irregular motion.
Jia Yan saw himself racing forward at breakneck speed in the Tenth Degree, but because he couldn’t see the outside world, and the subspace itself was thrashing about, once you miss the "exit station," you’re instantly thrown to the next one.
This time was no exception.
"Uh."
"Master, we did indeed miss it. This is my fault; Adisa miscalculated."
"I don’t blame you. If you could accurately calculate even the chaos inside the Tenth-Degree Subspace, that’s what I’d find strange."
"So should we go out now? Because if we turn back, even using the Seventh-Degree Subspace mode, I don’t have much confidence."
"Alright, let’s head out."
Inside the subspace, Jia Yan was talking with Adisa, then had Adisa pilot the Adisa and directly fly out from the subspace interior.
Just as he had predicted beforehand, he had already flown a considerable distance in the Tenth-Degree Subspace.
"Half a light-year? That’s quite a deviation. But it’s fine; I can just take this chance to go outside and ask around what the Insect Clan Queen and the others have been doing out here."
Jia Yan wasn’t particularly upset about his own mistake.
He’d already been separated from them for a year or two; a tiny bit more time didn’t matter.
He might as well use this period to ask around and see what the Insect Clan Queen and her group had done in this Starfield.
After all, they weren’t far; whatever they had done within this range, plenty of people should know about it.
Jia Yan’s guess was right: the Insect Clan Queen and her followers were indeed notorious in this stretch of the Starry Sky.
With only half a light-year of distance between them, the creatures here naturally knew a lot about the sudden arrival of this other faction.
And that Insect Clan Queen’s side—though it looked like just a small faction with few people—actually had quite a few Strong Ones, and their demand for external resources was huge. This forced countless small forces and corporate groups within half a light-year to constantly head to the region where they were staying to trade, driving the commercial atmosphere of the whole Starry Sky up by a lot.
As for the original managing Domain Master creature of this Starry Sky, he completely ignored and stayed away from them, because the Insect Clan Queen had already defeated him once. He didn’t dare provoke this female Domain Master creature too much; otherwise, if she went crazy again and challenged him to another duel, he wouldn’t be able to hold out.
Besides, all this trading was still boosting the commercial vibe across the Starry Sky. If it weren’t for the fact that this faction clearly had future plans, he’d actually want more such forces to come and conduct commercial activities.
All in all, this patch of Starry Sky was gradually becoming a Three No-Care Area because it was too sensitive.
"Oh, that faction actually defeated two Domain Master creature-led squads in a row?"
"Aside from that faction’s female Strongest, her subordinate Black sheep and the other Star River level existences all have pretty solid strength?"
That day, Jia Yan was striding through the Starry Sky, stepping in and out of subspace and normal space. It looked slow, but in fact he was moving extremely fast.
By his Giant Mosquito body, there was a figure much smaller than him.
The owner of this figure was trembling with fear and answering everything Jia Yan asked without the slightest reservation.
A Star River Middle Stage creature had come to ask him directions; the things he knew weren’t really secrets to begin with, but even if they were, he’d still have to tell. Otherwise, he might lose his little life.
"This Star River Intermediate Lord has been asking about that faction nonstop. Could it be he has some grudge against them? No, I can’t think like that. There’s never been the slightest hint of hatred toward that faction in his words. Could it be... he’s got some past ties with them?"
As soon as this possibility crossed his mind, the smaller figure’s owner instantly understood how he ought to talk.
From then on, his way of speaking shifted to praising the Insect Clan Queen’s faction a lot.
This small figure’s owner actually wasn’t weak; otherwise, how could he keep up with the speed of a Subspace Existence ahead?
He was a Stellar Class Peak Level Strongman already preparing to step into the Star River level.
But even such a frightening Stellar level existence still wasn’t much of anything beside Jia Yan.
Jia Yan’s strength was Star River Middle Stage. Even if this guy entered the Star River level, he’d still have to kneel.
Of course, that Stellar peak creature seemed to know this as well. Here in the Central Starfield of the Milky Way, the creatures had a vague sense for the power of Strong Ones. Even though he was weak, he had slowly come to understand roughly how strong Jia Yan was.
So he didn’t dare lie.
"Oh? How do you know that Black sheep’s strength is decent?"
Hearing the Stellar level existence at his side gradually talk up the Insect Clan Queen’s group and even say their future was bound to be bright, Jia Yan felt quite pleased inside, because he wanted to reunite with the Insect Clan Queen’s group precisely because their prospects weren’t bad.
But the other party was even praising that Black sheep, which instantly rubbed Jia Yan the wrong way.
"Uh, that Lord Black sheep—no, Black sheep—should have strength that’s reasonably good. But I think his Talent definitely isn’t as great as yours, Lord. In the future he’s destined to be overtaken by you."
The Stellar peak creature caught Jia Yan’s attitude at once and realized there was some friction between Jia Yan and Black sheep. So, his face changed color like a chameleon: in a flash he went from singing Black sheep’s praises to trash-talking him.
"You’re pretty quick on the uptake."
Jia Yan was a little surprised, giving a look to this creature who, just to stay alive, had thrown away any shred of a Strong One’s pride.
You’d think—this guy was a Stellar peak existence. Back when Jia Yan himself was at Stellar peak, he cared a lot about his pride.
The other seemed to know exactly what Jia Yan wanted to say.
"Lord, don’t be surprised that we Stellar level types have no face at all. In fact, this is just the survival method in the Central Star Domain of the Milky Way. So in that sense, we creatures of the Central Star Domain of the Milky Way also pay a price: we stay weak for a very long period, haha. When I first heard friends from outside say that someone like me—a Stellar peak creature—could strut sideways out there, I was dumbfounded. I guess that’s just the difference in environment."
This Stellar level existence really was quick-minded.
"Heh, that’s true enough. Different environments."
Jia Yan nodded.
This Stellar peak creature was someone he had just run into on the way. Jia Yan figured that a Stellar peak existence should know a lot of the real news, so he had coerced him to fly along while asking questions.
At first, based on how Stellar level Strong Ones behaved outside, Jia Yan thought he’d have to threaten and entice him. But unexpectedly, this Stellar peak existence—already close to stepping into the Star River level—was scared like a little devil. Any random question from Jia Yan made him shake like a sieve and spill everything he knew. If Jia Yan hadn’t run out of things to ask, the guy would probably have introduced his ancestors for eighteen generations straight.
After listening to the other’s words, Jia Yan gained some understanding of the Insect Clan Queen’s previous journey.
After separating from Jia Yan, the Insect Clan Queen’s group had come to this Starry Sky.
Jia Yan guessed that they had probably waited for him for a while outside the Central Starfield of the Milky Way out of loyalty. But since Jia Yan was late and still hadn’t shown up, they entered the Central Starfield of the Milky Way on their own.
After they arrived in this Central Milky Way Region, they immediately clashed to some extent with the faction guarding the gate.
According to the explicit rules of this gatekeeping force, other factions were absolutely not allowed to enter their Starfield en masse like that—let alone when among those entering were several Star River level existences.
The standard way things were done in this Starry Sky was to have incoming large-scale groups split into multiple smaller squads, then enter the Central Starfield of the Milky Way from widely separated directions under several different factions’ jurisdiction, so that the powers in the Central Starfield of the Milky Way wouldn’t treat the newcomers as enemies.
Of course, if the arriving existence was truly overwhelming, they still wouldn’t dare touch them. But clearly, the Insect Clan Queen’s group was not quite at that level.
And so, a war seen as one between "native locals" and "clueless bumpkin outsiders who don’t know the rules" broke out just like that.
