Since the moment of his transmigration, the shadow of the ’God of Decay’ has haunted Rio.

Ever since the start, he had been trying his best to work hard to achieve a level of strength that would ensure his and Lia’s safety.

Every sleepless night, every desperate battle and every narrow escape had been fuelled by that single fear, a fear that had followed him like a second shadow through all those long years.

But now that Rio was finally at the realm of Demi-gods and had awakened several powerful world authorities at once, Rio felt almost invincible!

’Atomic disintegration? Heh, even I can do that now! God of Decay? Heh, even I can be considered a pseudo-true-god of ’Anomalies’ now!’

’Now that I am finally at this level, I must go and properly observe the sea of miasma! Let’s see if it can still hide its secrets from me!’

For years, the endless sea of miasma had been nothing more than a distant name whispered with fear, a dark rumor that cast its cold shadow over every corner of the world, and Rio could hardly wait to finally look it in the eye.

With his current strength, Rio knew he could roam unhindered anywhere in this universe now, and even if he encountered danger, he could just retreat without any problems.

There was no longer any place in the universe that could trap him, no enemy that could corner him, and that realization filled his chest with a warm and steady stream of confidence.

So, Rio wasn’t worried about the threat of the ’God of Decay’ arriving on this planet anymore; in fact, he dared it to try descending here!

Even if the other party doesn’t descend anymore, Rio would just go and invade the Sea of Miasma himself and butcher as many demons inside as possible, bringing a horrific storm in their hometown sooner or later!

’Phew~ Finally I have some level of self-protection strength...’

The weight that had been sitting on his chest for so long finally felt lighter, and for the first time in years, Rio could breathe freely without feeling that his strength was not enough to withstand the coming storms.

The storm of mana and miasma slowly faded away into nothingness as Rio’s ascension finally came to an end.

The last few sparks of mana and miasma drifted down like fading embers, and the sky above the planet slowly turned calm and clear once again.

Standing atop the planet’s atmosphere, Rio looked at the boundless starry sky, and a faint smile appeared on his face.

Countless stars glittered in the darkness above him, each one silently inviting him to come closer and discover what lay beyond.

’Let’s settle my business on the planet first; I can then go travelling for a while...’

Exploring the unknown and venturing into the sea of stars as a space traveler was a man’s romance!

Now that Rio had the ability to achieve this dream, Rio wanted to travel across the universe and witness all of the amazing sights out there with his own eyes.

’The universe is massive; there must be other galaxies and planets like this where intelligent life resides... I may have to search for them, but it would be fun...’

He could already picture himself drifting past glowing nebulae and strange worlds with skies of unfamiliar colors, and the thought made his heart race with excitement.

Shaking his head to stop his thoughts from drifting far away, Rio looked back at the planet and noticed that the aura leaking out of his body due to the previous ascension was still suppressing the planet.

’Err... I actually pressed Link and the others to the ground... This is awkward... cough...’

Below him, the people of the planet were struggling to even lift their heads, and the very air seemed to groan under the invisible weight of his presence.

With a thought, Rio instantly suppressed his aura, and the entire planet returned to stability once again.

Without waiting for others to react, Rio rushed back down and flew right back to the top of the Demon Palace.

The wind howled past his ears as he descended, and the dark spires of the palace soon rose up to meet him through the thinning clouds.

"You are back. It seems your ascension went quite smoothly, Rio... hmm, no, I should call you ’Your Excellency Rio’ now, right?"

Sensing the overwhelming pressure aura coming off of Rio’s body, the Demon King could feel his legs tremble, and he subconsciously talked more politely.

Even for a being who had ruled over countless demons for many years, standing before Rio now felt like standing before an endless ocean that could swallow him whole at any moment.

"Err... don’t talk so politely, or I will find it difficult to kill you. You might not have realized it, but I actually gained back all of my emotions and my humanity."

A faint smug smile was etched on Rio’s face, which showed he was in a very happy mood right now.

"To be honest... I have become far stronger than I was expecting to... I can totally contact that ’Origin’ in the future someday after collecting 7 fragments easily..."

"You have helped me ascend in the most perfect sense, so I don’t feel like killing you. How about I just help you get rid of all miasmic influence in your body and transform you into a completely untainted being?"

"You can consider this as a reward from me—"

Before Rio could even complete his sentence, the Demon King immediately shook his head and denied the reward.

"No. I have nothing else left in this life that is worth living for. All I want is answers... from the ’Origin’ itself!"

His voice was calm, yet there was a deep, quiet fire burning behind every single word, the kind of fire that had been smouldering for far too many years to be put out by any kindness.

"So please do not go back on your word and help me fulfill my dream just like I have helped you. This was a win-win agreement from the very beginning; my help was never free."

Hearing those words, Rio was not offended in the slightest bit. In fact, he was impressed by how solid Nebo Dahaka’s determination to confront the ’Origin’ about the death of his race was!

It was clear that no matter what Rio said, the other party would not listen to it and would continue insisting on the same thing, so he didn’t bother arguing anymore.
