Reborn as an Extra
Chapter 820: Rex Family, Origins. Part-5.
"If we managed to make the dark elves side with us, establishing the ’World Alliance’ would become easier... so a powerful army needs to be sent on this operation."
"Prepare your luggage; you would soon be dispatched to the Maya Continent and will act as a team with your assigned partner to help carry out various missions there..."
Hearing those words, a deep frown appeared on Farim’s face.
"But aren’t students supposed to be kept away from the front lines... I remember that we have only been sent to the rear in the past three academic years for experience..."
"We haven’t actually fought in real wars at the very front. This kind of mission will result in many casualties you know?"
If even a musclehead like Farim could see this possibility, others could also easily understand the situation.
But unfortunately there was no other way out of this situation.
"The thing is, there are not many powerful combatants available in the human race at the time... the main reason why this academy was established was to increase the number of high-level combatants in the nation!"
"You are part of that first batch of newly grown elite combatants..."
"During the nation unification wars, Allen had to fight many powerful leaders, and unfortunately many of them were already too corrupted to be kept, so they were disposed of..."
For many years after the descent of mana, humans had been living under the dictatorship of powerful awakeners.
Most of them were already too addicted to their power and had gone too far on the path of degeneration; there was no reasoning with such people.
To keep the new nation stable, Allen had no choice but to eliminate these rotting tumors to prevent them from affecting the nation in the future.
This helped in bringing greater stability in the unified nation, but as a major side effect, most of the high-level combatants were lost by the time unification was completed.
Every 9 out of 10 S-rankers were killed off by Allen, reducing the overall numbers tremendously.
So now, the human empire’s armies did not have that many powerful combatants to dispatch for the rescue of the dark elves!
Thankfully, Bela had become friends with the ’Elves’ living on the Elven continent by helping them take care of the ’World Tree’ with her healing powers, and they were ready to cooperate with the humans.
In fact, after the Fairy race, Elves had become the second race that had chosen to agree with Allen’s plan to create an alliance of all races!
They were even ready to provide support in all aspects, like resources, military, etc. to become the ’co-founders’ of the world alliance with the humans.
"So, we humans will not be the only ones going to the Maya continent..."
"There will be thousands of fairies that will help out our army with their healing magic and there will be many Elves that will play a major role and will share the burden with us..."
"By the way, you tend to be reckless and get injured often because of charging into danger head-on, so I have arranged a ’Healer’ as your partner in this mission."
Farim immediately sat up straight after hearing those words and expressed his dissatisfaction with that arrangement!
"No way am I going to bring a waste with me! A healer!? Bullsh*t! Aside from Lady Astra, there’s no good healers in this world! All of them are weaklings and cowards!"
"If I bring such a weakling with me on a dangerous mission, they will hold me back, and my performance will be affected!"
"No no no!!! I will rather do the missions alone!! I don’t need any partners!! I am strong enough by myself!"
Ignoring Farim’s complaints, Ivan spoke in a calm voice,
"The army functions on the ’Battle Buddy’ system in which every mission must have a minimum of two partners working on it..."
"A person cannot go on a solo mission in the army; these are rules that can’t be overturned for the sake of a single person."
"Unless you want to lose your chance to fight Allen in a spar the next time we meet him, you have to follow these rules and do the missions with your partner..."
Ivan ignored the dissatisfied look on Farim’s face and threw him a card.
"Here, take this card, it’s got enough money to cover the expenses of whatever preparation you want to make before heading towards the battlefield, make sure to buy good equipment for yourself and your teammate too..."
"The standard military equipment is not good enough for someone as talented as you and that teammate of yours..."
Only when Ivan specifically mentioned that the teammate was talented did Farim finally calm down and decided to agree with the arrangement.
If doing missions in a team was unavoidable, having a talented teammate was obviously a better choice.
"Go now, the other party is waiting for you in the Garden area; you should go there to meet your teammate... I remember you don’t seem to have any friends; this is a good opportunity..."
"Just don’t be rude and egoistic; making friends depends on mutual trust and respect... you won’t go far in life if you just keep holed up in the training grounds and never interact with anyone..."
With that said, Ivan flew away to take care of the pending work that Allen had recently dumped on him once again.
"Urgh, that stupid face mage! Tch! I hate mages!"
With a face full of irritation and resentment, Farim made his way towards the garden area located near the front walls of the academy.
’If it turns out that the other party is an arrogant fool or a weakling, I will break their bones and beat some common sense into them right away so they don’t get in my way later...’
’Don’t disappoint me new teammate or I will definitely not let you go easily!’
’Making friends? Bah! Only weaklings stick with each other; those who hold true strength do not care about such idiotic things!’
