Tears spilled like scattered pearls, falling freely onto the floor.

The sound of the woman’s soft weeping snapped Cyrus back to his senses. The dense network of bloodshot veins in his eyes receded instantly. Seizing the last remaining second of clarity, he forcibly severed the mental link between them.

The resulting backlash from such a violent disconnection was nothing short of catastrophic. Blood welled from the corner of Cyrus’s lips, his knees buckling as he collapsed powerlessly onto the hard ground.

Long before this, he had been relying on sheer willpower to suppress Chi’s violent rebound again and again. Pushed to the absolute limit, the accumulated mental toxicity had far exceeded what his physical body could endure.

Terrified by the sight, Bunny assumed he was truly at death’s door.

The moment she crawled over to check on him, Cyrus barked back at her with a fierce, snarling glare:

"Don’t come any closer!"

"Get out!"

"But you’re throwing up blood..."

Cyrus offered her a flat, indifferent glance. "I’m not dying."

Seeing that she still refused to budge, Cyrus had no choice but to resort to a direct threat. "If you don’t leave within one minute, I will pin you down and fuck you."

Bunny’s face drained of all color, and she instantly vanished into thin air like a streak of smoke.

As expected, only a line like that could scare her off.

Cyrus let out a cold, self-deprecating scoff. The very next second, his entire body pitched forward, crashing straight onto the floor as he lost consciousness completely.

A heavy thud echoed from behind her. Bunny glanced back—the man was out cold in a deep state of syncope.

She hesitated for a split second before running off anyway.

Ten minutes later, however, Bunny returned loaded with heavy-duty restraint equipment, enlisting Sunny’s help to strap Cyrus securely into the electric chair.

Only after verifying that the man was locked down tight and incapable of moving did she venture back into his mental sea.

It was still a pitch-black expanse inside. Bunny kindled her mental threads to illuminate the surroundings. Strangely enough, she couldn’t spot a single trace of dark pollution anywhere.

It was cleaner than her own wallet.

She had never encountered a Sentinel whose mental sea presented as a literal black hole—it was thoroughly baffling.

This domain seemed completely limitless. Bunny walked for what felt like an eternity, until her ankles throbbed with fatigue and she was forced to halt for a breath.

"ROAR!"

A fierce, guttural growl echoed from behind. Bunny flinched in fright, spinning around to find a black divine beast—resembling a mini mountain—staring down at her with huge, brass-bell eyes, snorting through flared nostrils.

Its entire body was covered in smooth, dark-purple fur, framed by a majestic mane. A pair of midnight-black wings sprouted from its spine, while twisted horns curled atop its head, dark smoke swirling around its four paws.

It looked utterly menacing, featuring a golden rolling-cloud motif etched right across its forehead.

What... what on earth is this creature? Looks so terrifying, and it even has a tattoo.

Bunny took a timid stab at greeting it. "Hello there, big guy."

Chi growled at her twice more, apparently thoroughly annoyed about why she had run away earlier.

Her eardrums nearly shattered from the vibration. Bunny wiped her face. "If you huff at me again, I’m leaving."

Hearing those words, Chi instantly went quiet, shrinking down to the size of a little puppy as it circled curiously around her.

It sniffed continuously as it looped—yes, exactly this scent!

Wife’s scent!

Having confirmed her aroma, Chi began frantically rubbing against her pant legs, nuzzling its fluffy head into her palm without a shred of its former ferocious demeanor.

From terrifying monster to cuddly kitten in zero seconds flat.

Bunny crouched down, scratching its belly and gently pinching its little wings, until Chi suddenly broke into a fit of hiccups.

"Ugh..."

Its lower belly convulsed, spewing out cloud after cloud of black smoke.

Bunny quickly identified the dark vapor as condensed pollution.

No wonder Cyrus’s mental sea was so suspiciously spotless—Chi possessed the capability to devour toxic radiation and impurities, converting them into raw psychic power.

It sounded outrageously overpowered; without the interference of mental pollution, Cyrus could effortlessly unleash over 200% of his combat efficiency in battle.

Yet the drawback was equally glaring. Much like indigestion from overeating, when Chi consumed more than it could process, the unabsorbed residue fermented into internal toxicity, steadily eating away at the beast over time.

Because Cyrus shared sensory resonance with his spiritual companion, backlash against the beast was backlash against himself.

Having pinpointed the root cause, Bunny could administer the proper cure.

She extended her mental threads to dissolve the toxin deposits inside Chi’s body, giving its belly a soothing massage to aid digestion along the way.

The little beast flipped over onto its back, soaking in the massage with utter bliss.

With the toxicity purged, its temper evaporated completely. Those wild, agitated mental threads began retracting into the depths of the mental sea, strand by strand.

Bunny wiped her sweat-beaded forehead with relief. This unit would truly fall apart without her.

Rising to her feet, she gazed into the distant darkness, sensing deep down that something else lay hidden at the far end of this black hole.

However, she couldn’t push any deeper for now.

Bunny disengaged from Cyrus’s mental sea. The man remained unconscious, though his psychic baseline had stabilized completely.

Unbuckling his heavy restraints, Bunny intended to leave him here to cool off for the night.

Just as she straightened up to leave, Cyrus’s eyes snapped open. A swift arm reached out, hooking around her waist and pinning her firmly beneath him onto the floor.

"Cyrus, what do you think you’re doing?!"

An overbearing kiss crushed down upon her lips—intense, wild, and aggressively ravenous.

Bunny bit down hard, puncturing his lip. Droplets of crimson seeped from the wound, spreading a metallic, copper-sweet tang between their teeth.

"What do I want?"

He extended the tip of his crimson tongue, casually licking away the smear of blood. The raw, predatory malice of a rogue was displayed to perfection on that impeccably handsome face.

"I want you..."

Bunny swung her palm in a lightning-fast streak of five consecutive slaps, holding back not an ounce of force.

She had genuinely thought he was on the brink of death, only for this bastard to go right back to playing the villain the second he recovered.

Truly a masterclass in shamelessness.

Cyrus slowly turned his head back, distinct red handprints etched onto both sides of his face, burning with a sharp, stinging heat.

He fell dead silent. His deep, unfathomable gaze pinned Bunny in place, making her skin prickle with unease.

Was he going to fly into a rage and retaliate?

Instead, his broad hand gently caressed her cheek. His voice dropped into a low, raspy whisper, laced with an undercurrent of suppressed madness:

"Have you tortured me enough, baby?"

Bunny couldn’t begin to read what was going through his head.

"If you’re done hitting me, kiss me."
