Chapter 494: Ch 494 – I knew all along
Chasing down the Crimson Prince and Xumo was hardly any trouble for Yino and Ruoning.
In this Illusion Realm, possessing the Collectible essentially meant invincibility. With Ruoning handling the combat, Yino’s knowledge of the dungeon strategy naturally made him the ultimate navigator.
They had only run about two floors before Ruoning pinned each of them to the wall with her sword.
Xumo was the first to fall.
After all, he only possessed two golden collectibles and a few Purple ones. In terms of footwork, he was no match for the Crimson Prince, who had long since studied the surveillance.
After subduing Xumo, Ruoning continued pursuing the Crimson Prince under Yino’s direction.
Naturally, as the man, the dirty work of disposing of the body fell to Yino.
“Brother Xumo…”
“It’s been a long time. I thought after our last meeting, we’d become friends through rivalry. How regrettable that we meet again as enemies.”
Yino stopped before the dying Xumo, the sharp Dark Red Demon Blade materializing in his hand.
Behind him, Ye Huai followed at a distance, trembling and not daring to interrupt.
“You bastard Huai… all those grand vows you made back then… and now you’re just kneeling for him so easily…”
Xumo had been completely overpowered by Ruoning and was already terrified out of his wits.
His fear of Yino was an instinct carved into his bones.
“Oh? What grand vows did you make before?”
Yino turned with feigned amusement to look at Ye Huai.
The latter was just as pale as Xumo, shaking his head desperately, his eyes filled with such terror and resentment that it seemed he wanted to kill the talkative Xumo on the spot.
“Don’t listen to his nonsense! I was only trying to uncover whatever conspiracy they had back then!”
As the saying goes, when disaster strikes, everyone flees for themselves, Ye Huai embodied this perfectly now.
“You damn dog, spouting such….”
Betrayed repeatedly by the very ally who once gritted his teeth at the mere mention of Yino, Xumo’s eyes blazed with even more unwilling fury.
Xumo shouted hoarsely, his voice ragged.
He pointed accusingly at Ye Huai’s face, lifting his head as if to expose the latter’s true nature to Yino. Since Yino surely wouldn’t spare him today, Xumo was determined to drag Ye Huai down with him! “Yino! Don’t kill me yet, why not hear how this dog once vowed behind your back to….”
“This damned Demonic Cultivator, at death’s door, still tries to smear others!”
Xumo spoke excitedly, but a long sword suddenly flew past Yino and pierced his throat.
Thud!!!
Black blood splattered, staining Yino’s white shirt.
With the sword lodged in his mouth, Xumo slowly slumped against the wall, lifeless, his eyes still wide open and fixed hatefully on Ye Huai.
In an instant, the atmosphere among the three fell into silence.
Yino stared at the sword in Xumo’s mouth, blinking slowly, his pupils contracting.
Though unexpected, upon reflection, it made sense. Yino turned to look behind him at the man in Sect robes, who was now breathing heavily.
Thump!!!
Ye Huai immediately dropped to his knees before Yino once more.
“H-He… Brother He… don’t listen to him, he’s… he’s trying to sow discord between us…” “P-please, for Master’s sake, I beg you…”
Having just narrowly escaped death, Ye Huai now found himself trembling before the specter of mortality again, all because of Xumo.
Seeing him so desperate to cling to life, Yino couldn’t help but let out a faint, cold laugh:
“Senior, you misunderstand. Why would we need Sister Chairing to vouch for anything?”
“As fellow cultivators, how could I possibly turn against you over the slander of a mere Demonic Cultivator?”
Though Yino’s words were dismissive, he had already calculated countless ways to make Ye Huai meet his end.
Ruoning wouldn’t be an issue, Yino could simply claim Ye Huai had gone missing during their mission, ensuring Ye Huai would vanish from the records of Liuli Sect without a trace. Ultimately…
Yino feared that staining his hands with Ye Huai’s blood would make it impossible to avoid Ye Chaerin’s wrath once they returned.
“Th-thank you for your understanding, Brother! I will never forget this kindness in my lifetime!”
Hearing this, tears of gratitude streamed down Ye Huai’s face, his expression overflowing with emotion.
Stranded in this place without any of his collectible, he was utterly at others’ mercy. That Yino, even after learning his darkest secrets, was willing to spare him, in this moment, Ye Huai genuinely felt like prostrating himself before Yino in worship.
He was convinced, utterly and completely convinced.
Right now, Ye Huai felt that even if Yino were to inflict Demonic Corruption upon Ye Chaerin after they escaped, he wouldn’t dare voice the slightest objection. If Yino ordered him to drug his own master, he would likely obey without hesitation.
“Ye Huai, you disgust me…”
At some point, a cold, haughty young woman’s voice echoed through the void.
The familiar tone made Ye Huai look up sharply, his eyes widening as he focused on the source. On Yino’s hand, a Demon Clan Spiritual Mark glowed with a platinum radiance. Moments later,
the petite figure of a white-fox girl appeared beside Yino. She gritted her teeth lightly, her enchanting eyes icy with disgust, as if her visceral revulsion toward Ye Huai was written plainly across her face.
“Junior Yuebai…?”
“Enough. Stay away from me. Don’t think I don’t know what vile thoughts were running through your mind just now.”
Yuebai averted her gaze, glanced at Xumo’s corpse, and then sighed with even deeper exhaustion.
Indeed.
It was an indescribable feeling of powerlessness.
First Xumo, now Ye Huai… They all spoke endlessly of their reverence and genuine affection for their master, yet when faced with life and death, every one of them chose to betray her.
Over the past six months, Yuebai had actually patiently listened to Ye Huai pour out his feelings for Ye Chaerin time and again.
Though she felt nothing for Ye Huai, having once been a master herself, she held some sympathy for Ye Chaerin.
But never did she expect…
Ye Huai was utterly full of nonsense.
He claimed to owe Ye Chaerin a life-debt for raising him, yet after being intimidated by Yino just twice on the battlefield, he was already secretly planning to sell her out to curry favor with Yino.
Living so despicably… he might as well be dead!
At least when Yuebai was being tortured, right up until the moment she lost consciousness, her eyes rolling back, she never once considered betraying the White Fox Clan.
“Brother, please don’t take offense. My little girl here suffered emotional trauma in the past, which is why she reacted so strongly upon seeing you today…”
As the atmosphere grew icy from Yuebai’s scolding, Yino reached out to stroke the white fox girl’s fluffy large tail, attempting to ease the tension.
He stepped forward, partially shielding Yuebai, while the hand caressing her tail slyly wandered upward to fondle the girl’s tender little mound.
Mmph!
Yuebai pressed her lips together, not daring to make a sound, only letting out a soft whimper within her spiritual consciousness before tilting her head to glance up at Yino.
Yino remained expressionless, his righthand kneading beneath the girl’s tail while his left extended toward Ye Huai kneeling on the ground.
“Brother, don’t dwell on it.”
“There’s still one Demonic Cultivator at large. This is no time for conflict among us Fellow righteous Cultivators.”
Yino spoke with solemn detachment.
Ye Huai was momentarily stunned, his eyes welling up with even greater emotion as he gratefully grasped Yino’s left hand and rose to his feet.
“Brother Yino speaks truth! That Crimson Prince, neither fully male nor female, has always had a poor reputation within the Liuli Sect. I, too, have long suspected him of being a cultist, just like you!”
“Is that so…?”
“Indeed! My master once warned me repeatedly that Crimson Prince harbors wicked intentions, advising me to keep my distance… Now it seems he truly is a vile, unforgivable Demonic Cultivator and a traitor!”
“Well, it seems great minds think alike.”
Yino continued massaging the white fox girl’s tender mound while facing Ye Huai with a earnest, cheerful smile.
