Reborn: Apocalypse Tyrant Endlessly Pampers Her Sickly Lover
Chapter 6-The ones left standing
Chapter 6: 6-The ones left standing
After parting ways with Sarah, shopping took Aymara exactly one hour. She bought enough supplies to establish a foundation without attracting attention.
Seeds were her priority because having a farm could prolong her survival for however long the apocalypse lasts.
Aymara stocked up on staple grains, legumes, vegetables and various fruits. Her purchases were ordinary enough, nothing suspicious that draws attention.
No truckloads of food, mountains of bottled water or obvious stockpiling. Her shopping looked like a person looking to start farming and nothing more.
"These should offer all carbohydrates, protections, fibre and iron that Nathaniel and I will need in the long run," she nodded with approval as she checked her purchases.
Once she returned home, however, everything changed.
Aymara sat at her desk with a serious look on her face. She opened her financial accounts and started making a list of all the properties she owned.
"In a week, the world will collapse. Money and properties will be useless. I need to sell them all!"
Her mind was made up, so she began selling everything she owned. From one property to another; her mansions, luxury apartments, holiday villas and lands worldwide were put up for sale. She didn’t hesitate for one second.
In her last life, she regretted having everything she owned turned to dust right before her eyes. Her massive fortune served no purpose once the horrible tsunamis and hurricanes hit the world, endlessly.
"A second chance, Aymara, means smarter choices and moves," she cheered herself on. "Let’s go!"
Next she moved to her shares, the companies in her name, luxury cars, bags and jewelry. She listed everything she could at a price that would sell fast and easy.
Anything that wasn’t essential and could be exchanged for money went up for sale. It took hours to complete all the listing and make ready all the paperwork.
All day, her phone didn’t stop ringing. She was getting calls from colleagues, socialites and rivals.
"Aymara, have you lost your mind?" one heiress from the same social circle asked. "Why are you putting everything you own for sale?"
"I ran into some trouble and need the cash," she replied.
"I am so worried about you. This looks bad... But while we are on the topic, I’ll help you by buying all your limited edition Plaq jewelry collection," she said, her tone completely losing the former concern. "But still, super worried about you."
"Just send me the money and I’ll send the jewelry over."
Aymara rolled her eyes. She refused to believe that concern for a second. However since her agenda was pulling in cash, she didn’t call the girl out and simply completed the sale and shipped the jewelry after receiving payment.
Before she put her phone down, another call came in from one of her major rivals, Noel Hiser, "Aymara Ellington, Why are you selling your company?"
Aymara didn’t bother thinking up another excuse and used the same one she’d given every caller. "I ran into some trouble and need the money."
Noel offered to buy her out completely and take the companies off her hands. She agreed on spot. Out of consideration for past business relationship, where Noel was the only rival who never stabbed her in the back, she gave him a warning.
"For old times sake, Noel. I would encourage you to stock up on food, some supplies, and high ground strong shelter in the coming days," she said, being vague and not revealing too much.
She trusted to warn a former enemy that a friend. It was safer. Enemies weren’t close enough to plunge a dagger to her back or straight into her heart, they were people she kept at arms length.
Noel didn’t ask about the warning and simply completed the transaction.
Aymara didn’t push the matter. She got her money, the companies were out of her hands. Whether he decided to take her advise or not was up to him. But if Incase he ends up stranded and on her radar later on, she won’t lift a finger to save him.
Just as she completed the paperwork and handover, another call came in. This one wasn’t very polite.
"You’ll regret this!" the other end sounded immediately she answered. "You’ve gone mad! Aymara Ellington!"
Aymara pressed her finger to her ear, feeling sorry for her eardrums. "Nice to hear from you too, Josh," she let out, her voice lacking emotion.
"All your cars are limited editions and you’ll sell them for such low prices? They wouldn’t even go for that at market value, have you lost it?"
"Are you buying anything or not? I don’t have time for a lecture."
Josh released a strong sigh. "I’ll take them all!"
Just like that, all seven limited edition luxury cars were sold. Aymara asked her drivers to deliver them, paid them a year worth of salary and bonuses and laid them off.
They were shocked and surprised at being dismissed but with the huge amount of money they received, none dared to ask too much Incase she changes her mind and takes the money back.
"Do you know how valuable that property is?"
"I’m offering you an excellent price!"
"What kind of trouble could reduce you to this level?"
Her rivals, so-called friends and people from her circles and beyond came rushing. They thought she was desperate, foolish and that she had finally lost her mind.
However, none left without buying one, two or an entire collection of what was on sale. After all, being a rich heiress, all her belongings were from well known brands, limited editions and custom made.
Things they usually wouldn’t find in the market easily for the prices she put forward.
Aymara smiled as she signed another document. In her mind she screamed, ’Take it! Take everything!’
Because six days from that moment; those mansions would be underwater, those companies would be meaningless, the luxury cars would be floating wreckage. Shares would be worthless and money would become scraps of paper.
The strongest currency would be food, clean water, medicine, fuel, weapons and strength.
The world they knew would disappear beneath the waves and the parts that would survive, wouldn’t be hospitable for civilization. Not to mention the monsters that will appear after the apocalypse hits.
Aymara looked out the window. "Laugh at the crazy girl desperate to secure her survival. When the times comes for you all to be desperate, my future would be secured," she whispered.
The city was still beautiful. People walked along the sidewalks without worry, some hurried on while others moved slowly. Cars moved through intersections.
Restaurants were full. Children laughed happily and innocently. None of them knew that the world had only six days left before doomsday.
Aymara whispered, "Enjoy it while you can."
Ring. Ring.
Her phone buzzed. She locked down to spot an incoming call. The caller ID was written with a heart emoji at the end.
Dylan.
Aymara swallowed. Her mind raced to her screams as he stood by and ordered for her to be thrown off her own ship before shifting to the explosion that took hers and Nathaniel’s life. Dylan was the last person she ever wished to hear from.
She didn’t pick up.
It rang a few more times and she ignored each and every call.
"Don’t blame me for being ruthless, Dylan. This is simply a page out of your book," she murmured.
After the calls stopped for several minutes, she picked up her phone. The largest purchase of her life was waiting to be made.
"This time, I won’t be a hero..." as she spoke , her voice was full of pain. "...heroes aren’t always the ones left standing in the end."
