Chapter 1449: Chapter 1448: Not Wanting to Offend the Boss’s Wife

And just like that, the half-day of classes was over.

Afternoon finally rolled around.

Gu Tong couldn’t wait to leave campus and rushed straight to Li Yan’s company.

The reception girls at the front desk all knew her by now, and they all knew she was the general manager’s wife, so their attitude was very friendly—no one wanted to offend the lady boss.

Gu Tong didn’t take it too seriously, but she didn’t put on any airs either. She just nodded, greeted them one by one, then headed straight upstairs to Li Yan’s office.

She’d already been to the company once, so she knew the way well. Without much effort, she pushed open the office door.

Li Yan was at his desk, buried in a pile of documents. He thought it was some assistant coming in, didn’t even lift his eyelids, and said, "Just toss it on the desk."

"..." Gu Tong blinked, silently thinking her husband was a total workaholic.

But she didn’t say anything. Instead, she walked around behind Li Yan and suddenly hugged him from behind.

Li Yan instinctively wanted to fight back—pure reflex from his special trainee days—but the next second, a familiar scent reached his nose.

Gu Tong pressed tightly against him and said sweetly, "Hubby, did you miss me~"

They’d only been apart for one morning, and she was already asking if he missed her.

Li Yan let out a small laugh, looking very pleased. "I did."

Gu Tong acted all playful and clingy, lively and adorable. "Good, that’s the right answer. A day apart feels like three years, and we haven’t seen each other for half a day—at least one ’year’ has gone by already. If you didn’t miss me, I’d bite you."

Sure enough, he liked it when his little wife was clingy. Whatever she did, he found it delightful.

Li Yan paused slightly. "What brings you here?"

Gu Tong looked surprised. "We agreed I’d come watch the show. How could I not come?"

Li Yan: "..."

The assistant who’d just come in: "..."

Just how much did she love watching drama? She’d actually come all the way over just to see Gong Qingwan’s sour face—honestly impressive.

But that was exactly how Gu Tong was. Nothing she did was really surprising anymore, so everyone naturally just accepted it.

Gu Tong lifted her hand; she was carrying a white plastic bag. "I figured you and the assistant probably haven’t eaten yet, so I brought you guys something good."

The assistant stepped into the office. "Madam, you’re truly divine—you even predicted we hadn’t eaten."

Gu Tong laughed out loud, dismissive. "Our Devil King is a total workaholic. He’s always shortchanging his own stomach, so there’s no way he’d remember you. If he actually had time to eat at this hour, that’d be a real miracle."

"..." The assistant really wanted to laugh, but didn’t dare. Holding it in was torture; his stomach even started to hurt.

Li Yan lifted his eyelids. "How am I a workaholic?"

"Okay, okay, you’re not a workaholic, I’m the workaholic, happy?" Gu Tong soothed him like he was a kid, going along with whatever he said.

Li Yan: "..." She changed her wording, but for some reason, it didn’t feel like that’s what she actually meant.

Assistant: "..." You two need to stop being so polite with each other. You’re both workaholics! Pure, certified workaholics, all right!!!

Two workaholics, yet neither of them thinks they’re the problem, and they’re even arguing over who’s the "real" workaholic—how is anyone supposed to live like this.
