She glanced around the room. Xue Rui was still hiding in the closet, which meant she had the upper hand!

The corners of Gu Muxue’s almond-shaped eyes lifted slightly. She walked briskly to the closet and pulled the door open.

Inside, Xue Rui mumbled and looked up, his eyes meeting Gu Muxue’s. She, in turn, glared at him, her face flushed with a mixture of shame and anger.

“Get out,” Gu Muxue cursed under her breath, her face crimson.

Xue Rui actually had a piece of her underwear sitting on his head. He was slumped amidst a pile of her clothes…

Xue Rui chuckled. “Muxue, did you guys come up with a plan?”

Lin Ruoxi had actually already told him everything—that he would be staying in Gu Muxue’s room tonight.

‘This girl is so generous!’

Happiness had come so suddenly that Xue Rui was momentarily dazed.

Xue Rui gently wrapped an arm around Gu Muxue’s waist and pointed at the bed. “Muxue, tonight, you sleep on the left, and I’ll sleep on the right. I promise I won’t cross the line.”

Gu Muxue’s body tensed up. She pinched Xue Rui. “In your dreams. You’re sleeping in the bathroom. Otherwise, I’m calling Old Gu over.”

“You can’t be that heartless, can you?” Xue Rui feigned a pained expression, pulling the girl tighter into his embrace.

Gu Muxue had hidden him so carefully, yet now she was acting all threatening. Wasn’t she just as afraid of being discovered?

‘This girl is so naive,’ Xue Rui thought.

“Dad!” Gu Muxue shouted.

The hair on Xue Rui’s body stood on end. ‘Is this girl serious?’

He quickly covered Gu Muxue’s mouth. “Please, I’m begging you, don’t shout.”

Seeing Xue Rui’s nervous expression, the corners of Gu Muxue’s eyes lifted. She figured letting him sleep here wasn’t such a bad thing. Tonight, she could control him, and he wouldn’t dare touch her.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK~

A knock sounded at the door.

The two of them held their breath in an instant.

Gu Muxue’s heart was pounding. Her parents had just gone to take a shower, which was why she dared to threaten Xue Rui so loudly. Could they have heard her after all?

Just as she was wondering how to explain, Lin Ruoxi’s soft, sweet voice came from outside the door. “Time to eat.”

Xue Rui had been holding Gu Muxue the whole time. He realized she was just bluffing; deep down, she was scared to death.

But Xue Rui didn’t dare to call her bluff. He was afraid of messing things up.

Since the girl wanted to boss him around, he might as well play along. After all, they were going to sleep in the same room. What did he have to lose?

Gu Muxue breathed a sigh of relief. She broke free from Xue Rui’s arms and opened the door for Lin Ruoxi.

After they both glanced around, Lin Ruoxi lowered her head and carried the food inside, while Gu Muxue peeked outside for a moment before gently locking the door from the inside.

“You must be hungry. Eat up.” Lin Ruoxi handed the bowl and chopsticks to Xue Rui and watched him eat from the side.

Xue Rui sighed. “Xixi, Muxue is making me sleep in the bathroom.”

Lin Ruoxi’s expression froze for a moment. She looked at Gu Muxue in confusion. “Muxue, you… you don’t want him to sleep here?”

Gu Muxue pouted. “I don’t.”

Lin Ruoxi gently took Xue Rui’s arm and nuzzled against it contentedly. “Hmm, then you can sleep in my room tonight.”

Gu Muxue muttered under her breath, “Your room doesn’t have a bathroom.”

Lin Ruoxi tilted her head and thought for a moment. “Hmm, I can cut up some bottles for him to use.”

Xue Rui pinched the bridge of his nose. ‘This girl is something else. She even knows all the guys’ tricks.’

Gu Muxue’s face turned beet red. She was completely shocked by Lin Ruoxi…

She stammered, “He can… he can sleep here.”

If the worst-case scenario happened, it would be better for her and Xue Rui to be discovered together. At least then she could protect him…

If he were found in Lin Ruoxi’s room, there would be no way to explain it.
