Ren Qunfang gave Lin Ruoxi a smile. "That’s not your job. Breakfast is already ready."

"I finally get a few days off. Just let me sleep in," Xue Rui mumbled with his eyes still closed, completely oblivious to his surroundings.

Hearing Xue Rui stir, Ren Qunfang walked over to the bed, grabbed his ear, and yanked it upward, preparing to give him a forced reboot.

"Aunt Ren!" Lin Ruoxi cried, rushing to protect Xue Rui and pulling Ren Qunfang’s hand away.

"What?" Xue Rui’s mind cleared instantly. ’Why am I hearing Lin Ruoxi’s voice?’

’This softness against me is so familiar... It feels like Lin Ruoxi is on top of me.’

He opened his eyes, and the hairs on his body stood on end. Lin Ruoxi was on top of him in her pajamas, and his blanket was behind her...

Several crumpled tissues lay silently inside.

Xue Rui’s eyes shot wide open. ’Those tissues weren’t there last night!’

In truth, they were the tissues Lin Ruoxi had used to wipe her tears the night before.

"Mom, listen..."

Ren Qunfang smacked Xue Rui on the leg. The impact made her own hand go numb.

Lin Ruoxi quickly pulled Xue Rui’s leg back, pleading, "Aunt Ren, please don’t hit him."

Xue Rui felt incredibly wronged. ’I didn’t even do anything! Why am I getting all this heat?’

"Xixi, why did you get into my bed?" Xue Rui demanded.

He thought Lin Ruoxi was sleeping with his mom last night. He’d forgotten to tell her not to come looking for him, since he hadn’t laid the groundwork with his mom yet.

He wrapped the blanket around himself, leaving only his head exposed, and cried with a wronged expression, "My innocence is ruined!"

Ren Qunfang’s eyebrow twitched. She’d already found out last night. ’Is Xue Rui playing dumb now?’

"You dare to blame her? Just you watch how I’m going to deal with you."

Ren Qunfang said coldly. ’How did I give birth to such a shameless, thick-skinned son?’

The commotion in the room attracted Xue Yao and Xue Xiaying, who came to see what was going on.

When they saw the scene in the room, both of them couldn’t help but cover their faces.

"Auntie, you tell her." Xue Rui straightened his posture. Xue Xiaying knew that Lin Ruoxi was actually the more proactive one.

Xue Xiaying opened her mouth, then closed it again, hesitating. She had a feeling that her sister-in-law wouldn’t believe her even if she told the truth.
