She suddenly felt as if the three of them were a tangled mess of yarn, leaving her an anxious wreck.

She pulled out her phone and opened her chat with Lin Ruoxi. Seeing the other girl’s incredibly simple replies, she couldn’t help but let out a resigned sigh.

She decided to talk to Lin Ruoxi in person.

For now, Xue Rui’s remorseful attitude, like that of a child who had done something wrong, managed to slightly improve her mood.

At 8:30 p.m., Xue Rui returned to the gate of the University of Posts and Telecommunications. He was carrying a paper bag containing an untouched kid’s meal he planned to bring back for the girl.

Although the girl’s boundaries hadn’t shifted an inch, he found that she seemed to be enjoying his meek and submissive behavior...

Not that he thought there was anything wrong with her for it. After all, he enjoyed being doted on by Lin Ruoxi just as much.

"Rui, are you okay?" Lin Ruoxi’s panicked voice rang out.

"What could possibly happen to me? Are you hungry again?" Xue Rui ruffled her hair. ’What’s gotten into this girl?’

Lin Ruoxi said seriously, "Well, I was thinking... that call you made to me in a dialect earlier might have been a secret code to signal you were in danger."

The corner of Xue Rui’s mouth twitched. ’She’s looking me up and down, thinking I was in danger?’

’I really was in danger! But wasn’t that because of your phone call?’

Lin Ruoxi had sharp eyes, and she immediately spotted the bite mark on Xue Rui’s wrist.

"Let me blow on it, and it won’t hurt anymore." Her heart ached as she gently stroked the mark. She lifted his wrist and blew on it softly, as if consoling a small child.

After a moment, the girl pouted and asked unhappily, "Gu... Gu Muxue bit you again. Why?"

She knew Xue Rui often teased Gu Muxue, but this time the bite was so vicious it had nearly broken the skin.

She was not happy about it. She was a little angry, too.

"Because I told her you’re my girlfriend. She got angry, so she bit me," Xue Rui said nonchalantly.

Lin Ruoxi’s head snapped up, her almond-shaped eyes wide. Her dazed expression was utterly adorable.

"I... I... she... you..."

Lin Ruoxi stammered, unable to form a complete sentence.

Xue Rui tapped her forehead with his knuckles. He knew her brain was about to short-circuit.

"Oh, right. She got you a kid’s meal."

"Oh... th-thank her."
