Rebirth: Saving the Lovely Girl from the Start
Chapter 397 - 301: Xiaorui, Are You Jealous?
In the blink of an eye, the sun was directly overhead.
By lunchtime, Xue Rui’s small stall was packed with people, and the watermelons were all gone.
Once the students started heading to the cafeteria for lunch and the crowd on the field had mostly dispersed, Xue Rui decided to pack up his stall and leave.
The scumbags from Room 622 were still waiting for him. Ever since they found out he was the one promoting the app, they’d been giving him funny looks.
"Old Xue, why didn’t you ask us to help?" Zhao Chaojie was itching with envy. He had seen it from the start—Xue Rui was completely surrounded by girls!
After downloading the app and seeing the photos, he was practically dying of curiosity.
The app also had a "Confession Wall" feature, but individual users couldn’t post directly. They had to contact the wall’s operator to submit a post. There were so many girls around Xue Rui, and Zhao Chaojie thought, ’Since it’s Xue Rui’s app, as his roommate, I should definitely get first dibs on making a confession!’
"I told you guys last night during our dorm chat that I was going to start a business, but you didn’t believe me." Xue Rui chuckled. ’These guys have to go to their military training, so they couldn’t have helped me.’
"Rui, have some watermelon and rest for a bit. I’ll go get you some lunch," Lin Ruoxi said with concern. She had hidden a watermelon in the corner of the cooler, chilling it specially for Xue Rui.
She cut the watermelon open, gave half to Xue Rui’s roommates, and cradled the other half in her arms.
The young woman scooped out a large chunk from the center of the watermelon with a spoon and held it to Xue Rui’s lips.
Xue Rui smiled, bit off half, and mumbled, "You eat it. You’re the one who must be tired after cutting so many melons this morning."
The young woman slowly shook her head. "Mm, you finish the center. I’ll have what’s left."
"But the center is the sweetest part."
Qian Huabiao clutched his chest. ’Sweet? How is this sweet?’
’It’s so sour it could kill you!’
"Come on, let’s go eat." For once, Qian Huabiao didn’t snap back at Xue Rui.
He had discovered on the app that Xue Rui was recruiting an operator for each school. He realized he needed to get on good terms with Xue Rui to make it easier to land the operator role.
’If I can get admin privileges, won’t I have the contact info for all the girls?’
"By the way, Old Xue, you should check out the Jiao University side of things," Qian Huabiao reminded him in a low voice.
Xue Rui’s expression was strange. ’Qian Huabiao has the gall to bring up Jiao University?’
’Still, he had to admire Qian Huabiao for discovering his app’s hidden feature in such a short amount of time—the ability to get the gossip from any school.’
’This way, content would never be an issue. If there wasn’t enough drama at your own school, you could always check out the gossip from a nearby one.’
’Moreover, with a dedicated and high-quality user base, he could eventually expand into a social app for strangers, diversifying his monetization strategies...’
’Old Qian is no simpleton,’ Xue Rui thought. ’Just what you’d expect from a guy who once juggled five relationships at once. His instincts are incredibly sharp...’
While eating in the cafeteria, Xue Rui opened the laptop Lin Ruoxi had brought. He pulled up the school’s main group chat and, sure enough, saw that plenty of people were promoting his app of their own accord.
After all, his app had an "Invite for Rewards" event. Users who racked up enough points by bringing in new people could exchange them for prizes. The item that cost the most points was a visual earpick designed by Lin Ruoxi...
’They were all produced by her family’s factory anyway, so the cost was low.’
’What’s happening at Jiao University?’ He recalled Qian Huabiao’s words and switched over to the backend for Changjiang University. Sorting by likes from high to low, the first thing that caught his eye was a picture of Gu Muxue.
And beneath it, a crowd of simps had left comments.
[This girl is gorgeous, what’s her major?]
[The Confession Wall keeps rejecting my post. My QQ is **...]
[Damn! What kind of trash app is this? Why did it censor my QQ number?]
Someone else replied: [Dude, don’t bother. You can’t post phone numbers or WeChat IDs either. I think they’re banned terms. Watch out or you’ll get your account suspended.]
[So in the end, we can only go through the Confession Wall?]
...
Xue Rui sent Gu Muxue a message: Muxue, did you post that picture?
Each school’s operator had separate backend access for managing their campus-specific forums.
He hadn’t actually asked her to do any promotional work, but had given her the backend access for Jiao University to mess around with.
’But she’s the administrator, so how could she let her own picture reach the top of the list?’
He then opened the backend submissions for the Confession Wall and saw a massive influx of posts. At least half of them were confessions of love for Gu Muxue!
Creditor: My roommate posted it. I was going to delete it, but I saw it was attracting a lot of new sign-ups, so I decided to leave it for now.
Xue Rui: I deleted it for you.
Creditor: Xiaorui, are you jealous? [Grinning emoji]
