Chapter 366 288: I Want to Make Your Bed

"Classmate." Xue Rui smiled and pointed to the corner of his own mouth.

The dorm auntie, however, treated these students like her own sons. She teased, "Hey, kiddo, you might want to wipe that drool. Don't go scaring off the pretty girl."

Cai Huazhou let out a sudden SLURP, his cheeks visibly flushing bright red.

'I was just filling out my dorm info,' he wanted to explain. 'I had to hold the popsicle in my mouth while I was writing. That wasn't drool, it was the popsicle melting!'

But... as if anyone would believe that!

Without another word, he quickly crunched up the popsicle in a couple of bites and fled toward the 6th floor.

Cai Huazhou was a little faster than Xue Rui and Lin Ruoxi. Now bored and with time to kill, he stood a few steps higher on the staircase, watching the pair below.

He had just lost a game of cards in the dorm, and the guys had sent him on a popsicle run. He never expected to get made fun of by the dorm auntie for his trouble.

The more he watched, though, the more something felt off. 'That guy has no class,' he thought. 'Making the girl carry the bedding all the way upstairs.'

When they reached the 6th floor, Xue Rui reached for the bedding. 'I can't let my new roommates think I'm some pampered young master,' he thought.

However, the young woman held on tightly and wouldn't let go. There was nothing he could do. 'A pampered young master it is, then,' he sighed internally.

Inside the dorm building, many male students were wandering around shirtless. Xue Rui put a hand to his forehead. 'This is just how northern guys are.'

He figured the girl would be uncomfortable seeing them, but she just looked at the students openly. It was the college guys who got embarrassed, hastily scrambling back into their rooms.

'Then again,' he mused, 'she's from the countryside. The rougher guys in the village are often shirtless while they work, and the old men cool off with their bellies out. She's probably used to it.'

"Holy crap! There's a girl here!" a student shouted as he returned to his dorm, hastily pulling on a shirt.

"So what if there's a girl?" someone else said, completely unconcerned, thinking his roommate was overreacting.

However, as he and Lin Ruoxi passed that very dorm, he paused and glanced inside. The young woman stopped at the doorway with him.

The student who had just spoken locked eyes with Lin Ruoxi. He instantly dropped his phone and frantically started pulling on a shirt.

Xue Rui pretended they were at the wrong door and kept walking, muttering, "Wrong room. It's further down."

"Damn! I thought he was our new roommate!" one of them cursed.

"What are you thinking? Our room is full."

"I was so flustered I forgot. That girl was gorgeous..."

"Should we go take a look?"

Xue Rui stifled a laugh. 'This is so damn true,' he thought. College guys seemed so carefree, daring to wander around in front of the dorm auntie in just their shorts, but that was only because she was their mothers' age.

When faced with a beautiful girl their own age, they'd get as shy as a bashful young maiden. Now they were peeking their heads out, pretending to wander into the hall when they really just wanted another look at Lin Ruoxi.

Cai Huazhou dawdled, slowing his steps. 'The direction Xue Rui is heading... is that our room?' he wondered.

'It has to be. The other rooms around here are full. Only ours has two empty beds.'

He rushed into his dorm and yelled at the others, "Guys, quick, get dressed! A girl's coming in!"

"I've still got my shirt on. You northerners and your habits are ridiculous. Who walks around shirtless all day?"

Qian Huabiao scoffed, "Zhao Chaojie, before you say that, maybe you should put on some pants first?"

"Haven't you ever heard the saying? Humans cool from the legs, dogs cool from the mouth. A dog pants to dissipate heat, and a human's legs do the same thing..."

"Stop screwing around, they're almost here," Cai Huazhou urged.

Xue Rui heard a flurry of rustling and clattering from inside the room. He slowed his pace, waiting until it went quiet before leading the young woman into the dorm.

"Hey, guys. I'm Xue Rui. I'm in room 622, too," Xue Rui said.

Lin Ruoxi, still holding the bedding, followed quietly behind Xue Rui. Her eyes darted between the two empty beds, already trying to pick out a good spot for him.

"Hey, man, welcome..."

The guys all smiled and greeted Xue Rui. One of them hastily dropped the cigarette in his hand, stamped it out, and waved his hand to clear the smoke.

Xue Rui watched as the guys' eyes inevitably drifted to the person standing behind him. He couldn't really blame them.

It couldn't be helped. Anyone would be captivated the first time they saw her.

Of course, there was one person whose gaze never wavered, fixed on him from the very beginning—Qian Huabiao, the guy he'd just met yesterday.

"Xue Rui?" Qian Huabiao's eyes nearly popped out of his head.

'Xue Rui goes to the same university as me? And he's in the same damn dorm room?!'

'Then what was the point of that whole act I put on yesterday?'

"You know him?" Cai Huazhou asked. He figured that since Qian Huabiao knew his name, they must have met before.

A smile tugged at the corners of Xue Rui's mouth, but he quickly forced it down. He looked at Qian Huabiao and said, "Hey, have we met somewhere before?"
