Xue Rui stood up and headed upstairs. "She might not play games, but she’s a master of computer hardware and software. You can ask her about any problems you have."

Xue Rui wasn’t treating Lin Ruoxi like an all-purpose robot. It was just that the girl was an incredibly fast learner. For many problems that weren’t too complex, she could learn what was needed on the spot, and that was more than enough.

Inside Xue Yao’s room, her computer was a desktop. Lin Ruoxi casually ducked under the desk, connected the new set of peripherals for Xue Yao, and installed the drivers.

Xue Yao sat at her computer, looking at the brand-new peripherals, not quite sure how to feel...

’The keyboard was a gift from my brother’s girlfriend, the mouse was from another girlfriend, and the headset was from my brother himself. Does he want to plug my ears so I have to pretend I don’t hear anything?’

Still, she really loved this keyboard, and it matched the pink mouse perfectly.

"Sometimes my computer can connect to QQ, but I can’t browse the internet. I usually have to restart it," Xue Yao said, reaching for the restart button.

Lin Ruoxi stepped forward. "Hmm, that’s a common DNS error. Let me take care of it."

Xue Yao’s mind wasn’t on the computer at all. All she could notice was how silky and smooth Lin Ruoxi’s hair was, carrying a faint, pleasant scent. She could even feel a gentle warmth radiating from the back of Lin Ruoxi’s head.

She glanced down at her own chest and sighed in resignation. "Ruoxi, why don’t you sit down to do it?"

She had wanted to escape reality for a moment, but Lin Ruoxi gently placed a hand on her shoulder. A soft, sweet voice sounded by her ear, "There, it’s fixed. You shouldn’t have any more problems with it."

Xue Yao clicked open her browser and, sure enough, a website loaded smoothly.

She glanced at Lin Ruoxi in surprise, then tried to think of other problems she had. "When I’m gaming, I like to switch to a TV show after my character dies. Why does the screen always go black for a few seconds?"

"Hmm, open it up and let me see. It’s probably a settings issue."

...

"This program always gives me some kind of registration error when I open it. I’m just going to uninstall it," Xue Yao said, dragging the icon to the trash bin.

"A registry error? Try running it as an administrator. Click here..."

"It actually worked! Sister Ruoxi, you’re amazing! Who taught you all this?" Xue Yao’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Lin Ruoxi with a face full of admiration.

Just moments ago, she had been facing her computer desktop, thinking about all the various frustrations she had using it. But the moment Lin Ruoxi arrived, she solved every single problem, which would make browsing the internet so much more convenient for her in the future.

Xue Rui watched Lin Ruoxi with a wide smile. ’This girl always seems so mature when she’s focused on work,’ he thought. ’But she’s always so silly when she’s with me.’

Lin Ruoxi paused, thinking. Xue Yao had asked who taught her...

"Your brother taught me," Lin Ruoxi said softly.

"My brother?" Xue Yao looked astonished. ’My brother has skills like that?’

Xue Rui was taken aback for a moment too. ’When did I ever teach her this?’ he wondered. ’I know a few things, but wasn’t she self-taught?’

’Never thought I’d see the day. Lin Ruoxi knows how to lie now.’

"Yes, he taught me how to get online, how to use a computer..." A nostalgic look appeared in Lin Ruoxi’s eyes.

Now Xue Yao was convinced. Lin Ruoxi didn’t seem like the type of person who would lie.

Xue Rui said humbly, "The master opens the door, but the path is yours to walk. Your accomplishments today are the result of your own efforts and have little to do with this master."

Xue Yao’s eye twitched. ’It’s not like I was planning on praising my brother anyway, but he’s being so smug right now he’s just asking for a beating. First, he says it has nothing to do with him, then he calls himself ’this master’.’

To her surprise, Lin Ruoxi, who was right beside her, obediently replied, "Mmm, it’s because the master taught me well."

’Xue Rui is playing a game with me again,’ Lin Ruoxi thought. ’I like playing games with him.’

Xue Yao was speechless. ’What is up with these two?’

’One calls himself the master, and the other is willing to be the apprentice?’

’Aren’t they a couple?’

She shook her head slightly and picked up Da Huang, who was lying by Lin Ruoxi’s feet. However, Da Huang actually turned his head and pretended to bite her!

She grabbed his snout and demanded sternly, "Da Huang, what’s wrong with you? Have I been feeding you for nothing?"

Watching Da Huang struggle in Xue Yao’s arms, Lin Ruoxi frowned and tapped him on the head. The dog’s eyes instantly cleared, and he began wagging his tail eagerly.

Xue Yao felt a pang of disappointment. Da Huang’s real owner was here, and he had instantly disowned her, his temporary owner.

She glanced at Xue Rui, then patted the dog’s head and joked, "Sister Ruoxi, how about you give me Da Huang? I’ll give you my brother in exchange."

Lin Ruoxi’s eyes widened. She stood there, stunned, not knowing how to respond.

She figured Xue Yao was joking, so she immediately agreed, "I’ll trade."

"Why are you comparing me to a dog? You fell right into her trap," Xue Rui protested.

Lin Ruoxi panicked and quickly changed her tune. "No trade, no trade."

Xue Yao snickered. "See, bro? You’re not even as important as Da Huang."

Xue Rui knew his sister was up to no good. No matter how Lin Ruoxi answered, it was the same as putting him and a dog on opposite sides of a scale.

Either way, he was being compared to a dog.

"Rui is the most important. Da Huang is..." Lin Ruoxi’s mind went blank.

Xue Yao seized the opportunity to grab Lin Ruoxi’s arm and said in a pleading tone, "Sister, please let me take care of Da Huang for a few more days, okay? I’ll give him back once school starts."

Lin Ruoxi suddenly remembered that she and Xue Rui would have to go to school in a few days. They probably wouldn’t have time to take care of Da Huang then. She thought Da Huang seemed to be doing quite well here...

"Mm, okay," Lin Ruoxi said with a nod.

"Thank you, Sister!"

Xue Yao excitedly gave Lin Ruoxi a hug, which left Lin Ruoxi feeling both surprised and flattered.

Xue Rui chuckled to himself. ’My sister is so easy to win over,’ he thought. ’All it took was a keyboard and a dog.’
