Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord

Chapter 2637: City God Temple

  • Next Chapter

Lin Kong came to his senses, disregarded everything else, and promptly got up to flee from the City God Temple, stumbling his way towards the deep mountains!

Due to his weakened state, he couldn’t count how many times he fell along the way, but he got up each time to keep running.

As he ran, he cursed Xiao Jiu: "It’s all because of that damned bird! I’m heavily injured and unable to rest properly. I had just found a temple to recuperate, and now I have to run again."

The more Lin Kong thought, the more frustrated he became. How could he be so unlucky? As a dignified State Preceptor sent as a spy to Moli Country, he thought he was backed by the Heavenly Master and the Fourth Prince, allowing him to roam freely. But one was killed by a weirdo, and the other was exposed for practicing an evil technique, leaving him with no choice. Under his encouragement, the Fourth Prince fled to Wei Country.

Lin Kong had done his country a favor.

After all, the Fourth Prince of Moli Country seeking refuge in an enemy country could alone undermine the morale of Moli Country’s soldiers, making their battles much easier to win.

But now, he was stranded in Moli Country, with the War Prince pursuing him. This miserable life—Lin Kong wondered when it would end as he grew more and more depressed.

If only the Celestial Master Zhang and the Fourth Prince were still around, he would have had a place to go. But now, he was forced to hide in the deep mountains, living each day in fear.

War Prince’s Mansion, Rain Listening Courtyard.

The room was elegantly furnished, with a faint scent of sandalwood hanging in the air.

"Young Lady, you’ve been sleeping for several days. It’s time to get up and go for a walk outside!" Zi Xia, dressed in light blue, stood patiently by Xuexue’s bed, gently persuading her.

The young lady was impressive. Initially, she didn’t want to sleep, and now that she has started, she doesn’t want to get up.

Zi Xia was growing increasingly troubled. The Prince, before leaving, had tasked her with the difficult duty of getting the young lady out of bed today no matter what and accompanying her to the garden for a stroll, to stretch her bones.

The Prince was worried the young lady might fall ill if she continued sleeping.

Xuexue seemed rather glum: "Don’t bother me, let me sleep a bit longer."

Zi Xia: "Young Lady, you’ve been sleeping for several days."

Xuexue rolled over, lazily saying: "Not so exaggerated! I’m just sleeping in, what’s the big deal?"

Feeling down due to Xiao Jiu’s disappearance, Xuexue had fallen into a deep sleep.

Zi Xia: "Really, ask Xiao Qing if you don’t believe it."

There were other maids in the room.

Xuexue turned her head, and the maid named Xiao Qing quickly nodded, saying: "Sister Zi Xia is right, Princess Consort, you really did sleep for several days."

Xuexue furrowed her brow and said: "Why didn’t anyone wake me up?"

The maids exchanged looks, thinking the Princess Consort might be experiencing memory loss. These days, they had been taking turns to wake her, but she ignored them.

Why was she now claiming they hadn’t called her.

Zi Xia: "Young Lady, we’ve called you many times. You didn’t respond to us, nor even to the Prince, who tried waking you up many times too."

Xuexue thought briefly, and in her half-asleep state, someone probably had called her.

Ah, it didn’t matter anymore; whether or not she was called was inconsequential now. She got up.

Just then, the steward hurriedly ran in, loudly exclaiming: "Princess Consort, there’s good news!"

"What good news?" Xuexue, dressed in undergarment, sat at the dressing table, frowning at him.

The steward hastily withdrew, frightened.

A man and a woman shouldn’t have close contact; it was inappropriate for him, as a grown man, to stay in the room with the Princess Consort dressed so scantily.
