Long Rui said coldly, "Humph! A good saying, ’the winner becomes king, the loser becomes a bandit,’ but you’re still a failure, so there’s no talk of kings or bandits; we merely ended up in a draw."

Then, he added ominously, "Whether the State Preceptor Lin can leave here today is still a question."

Lin Kong glanced at the densely packed guards surrounding them and said, "Isn’t the Prince just relying on strength in numbers? It doesn’t suit your style, Ghost King. Why don’t we go outside and have a fight? It would be a fair duel, and even if the Prince wins, the world wouldn’t ridicule you."

"Fair?"

Long Rui sneered, "When the State Preceptor Lin used lowly tricks and poisoned my tea, almost capturing me for Wei Country, why didn’t you talk about fairness then? Instead, you said, ’the winner becomes king, the loser becomes a bandit.’ The Preceptor’s tongue is truly eloquent, taking all the good and making fools of others, isn’t it?"

Lin Kong’s expression suddenly changed and he said, "If that’s the case, don’t blame me for being ruthless."

As soon as he finished speaking, he rushed towards Long Rui with a weapon in hand.

This treacherous scoundrel, trying another sneak attack.

Long Rui muttered under his breath, "Seeking death!"

Having nearly been captured by this damned Lin Kong for Wei Country last time, he had been holding a grudge, determined to avenge today.

It was destined to be a bad day for Lin Kong today.

The two soon clashed, swords and blades flashing, creating quite the spectacle, fighting from the corridor on the second floor to the hall, and then from the hall to the rooftop.

Most guests at Qinger Building had been sent away by Long Yi, and the few remaining were hiding in their rooms, too afraid to come out, making the entire building appear desolate.

The originally bustling hall was also empty.

Lin Kong, gripping his weapon, stood on the rooftop; the fierce wind whipped his robes loudly. From his high vantage point, he surveyed the situation in the hall, chuckled coldly, and said, "Humph! So you were prepared all along. I was wondering how you came so quickly. The Prince is indeed skilled."

Long Rui stood opposite him, also holding a sword, and laughed coldly, "Of course, your every move is under my control. There’s no escape today. I advise you to surrender obediently."

Lin Kong laughed heartily, "What a joke! Me, the esteemed State Preceptor of Wei Country surrendering to you? If word spread, wouldn’t the world laugh their teeth off?"

Long Rui: "As long as you can save your life, who cares about the laughter?"

Lin Kong sneaked a glance at the ground; Xuexue stood in the hall with servants, looking up at him with a fierce gaze.

Since Xuexue had eaten the Ginseng Fruit, her martial power had advanced rapidly, not to be underestimated.

Lin Kong felt somewhat hopeless; it seemed truly difficult to escape today. But in front of the enemy, he couldn’t back down, so he cursed, "Pah! The State Preceptor would rather die in battle than surrender today."

Long Rui: "Just afraid you’ll die in vain."

Lin Kong: "What do you mean?"

Long Rui: "Don’t think those around you are very loyal."

Lin Kong: "The Prince means someone beside me leaked my whereabouts?"

Long Rui responded with a question instead of an answer, "What do you think? Otherwise, how would I know you’d come here today?"

Lin Kong bowed his head in thought and suddenly ground his teeth: "Was it that little cheap person who told you?"

Long Rui: "Stop calling her a little cheap person, it makes you sound uncivilized."

Upon hearing Long Rui’s defense, Lin Kong was more convinced that Gu Lingqiao had betrayed him; his suspicion was correct, the child in this little cheap person’s belly wasn’t his.

Lin Kong: "So it was her after all."

Long Rui: "I didn’t say anything!"
