Rebirth of the Fierce, Pampered Wife
Chapter 206: A Bag for You
Chapter 206: Chapter 206: A Bag for You
Zhang Wei Qiang’s expression grew extremely serious.
Having made up his mind, he turned to see Gu Nuan Nuan’s slyly smiling face and couldn’t help but reach out to tap her on the head. "You little rascal, are you testing your own uncle now?"
"Hehe, I was just worried you’d be all noble and give away these fun toys," Gu Nuan Nuan said, sticking out her tongue. She pretended not to notice how her uncle had tensed up for a moment, and just kept smiling. "It’s a good thing you’re not a blockhead, Uncle. Otherwise, I’d have to get Grandpa to come and deal with you."
"You clever little thing," Zhang Wei Qiang chided with a laugh. He then looked through both storage bags, his interest piqued only by a small, palm-sized sword. He took it out and casually swiped it across the white jade table. To his astonishment, it instantly carved a deep gash into the jade.
He stood stunned for a moment, looking in disbelief from the jade table to the small sword in his hand. Then, he swung the sword lightly at the stone wall. A large chunk of rock was instantly sheared from the cave wall as if it were tofu. A wave of ecstasy washed over him.
"Uncle, that’s called a Flying Sword," Gu Nuan Nuan explained, waving another Jade Scroll. Banking on the fact that her uncle couldn’t read its contents, she relayed what Cao Cao had told her about its uses. "A Cultivator can make it bigger, step on it to fly through the sky, or control it remotely to fight their enemies. It’s an essential weapon for any Cultivator."
"A Flying Sword that can grow and fly through the sky?" Zhang Wei Qiang’s eyes lit up. He then asked, clinging to a sliver of hope he knew was all but nonexistent, "Can an ordinary person make it grow and use it like that?"
"Nope." Gu Nuan Nuan shook her head.
"It can’t, huh..." Zhang Wei Qiang sighed in disappointment. His spirits sank for a moment before he chuckled. "I guess I was being greedy. Heh, this Flying Sword is still pretty amazing even just like this."
He laughed for a moment, then looked at Gu Nuan Nuan. "Does that Jade Scroll of yours explain what all these things do? If it does, you should tell me about them." He suddenly changed his mind, shaking his head. "Actually, never mind. Your grandpa is still waiting for us up there." He glanced around and quickly spotted several Moonlight Stones in a corner, realizing they were the source of the cave’s light. Cradling them in his palm, he examined them and nodded. "These are even better than electric lamps, and we can take them with us. We won’t have to worry about lighting at Fish Spring anymore."
"Uncle, have you noticed? There’s a pool of water below us, but this cave isn’t the least bit damp. Do you think that’s because of these stones, too?" Gu Nuan Nuan grinned. She had, in fact, already confirmed with Cao Cao that the Moonlight Stones did indeed have a dehumidifying effect in addition to providing light.
"If that’s really the case, that’s fantastic. We can put these over at Fish Spring, and it’ll solve our lighting and dampness problems in one go." Zhang Wei Qiang’s face lit up as he looked at the Moonlight Stones. He’d seen that there was a small pile of these stones in those two magical bags. Even after putting some in the cave at Fish Spring, they’d still have plenty left over.
"Let’s pack away this screen and the table and stools too. The bed... we’ll leave it. Then we can use the sand and rocks from one of the bags to seal this cave. That way, he won’t be disturbed by anyone who stumbles in here in the future." Zhang Wei Qiang nodded, satisfied. He felt today’s haul was significant. He turned to Gu Nuan Nuan contentedly. "When we get out, you can have one of these two bags. We’ll leave his clothes, but you can take your pick of anything else useful inside. The other one can be for your grandpa and me, how about that? The space inside is huge. I think it’d be perfect for carrying all those fish."
’Master, there’s an Abnormal Fire in the storage ring. I think it would be better to cremate his body,’ Cao Cao called out urgently from within her spiritual space.
’An Abnormal Fire?’ Gu Nuan Nuan raised an eyebrow.
’Yes. Because there’s an Abnormal Fire in the storage ring, I was hoping you could tame it after you reach Foundation Establishment. Then, whether you want to learn Alchemy or Artifact Refining, it will be no problem at all.’
’No wonder,’ Gu Nuan Nuan thought, coming to a realization. ’I was just wondering why you’d suddenly tell me to learn Alchemy when you’ve always said I have a single Wood Spirit Root.’ She gave a slight smile and turned to Zhang Wei Qiang. "Uncle, there’s a special kind of fire in one of the bags. The original owner’s instructions say that a Cultivator’s body is full of energy and won’t decay for decades, or even centuries. Ordinary fire from the Mortal World won’t work on it. It would be better to use the fire from this bag to cremate the body before we seal the cave."
’I’m becoming such a great actress,’ Gu Nuan Nuan thought. Her lies were getting more and more convincing. ’In my past life, I hardly ever told a lie. But in this life, I have so many secrets... I’ve gotten so used to it that it feels natural. *Sob*...’
Zhang Wei Qiang didn’t doubt her for a second. He nodded, piled the clothes from the storage bag onto the stone bed where the body sat, and said to Gu Nuan Nuan, "Take out the fire. I’ll do it."
Gu Nuan Nuan quickly shook her head. "We can’t! That fire is incredibly volatile. We have to toss the flame onto the body from a distance. If we get too close, we’ll get burned too. I have the... uh... operating instructions right here, Uncle. So we should do it from outside the cave."
She paused. ’Uncle said he’d give me one storage bag,’ she thought. She quickly decided to "discover" another, larger storage bag. That way, her grandpa and her uncle could each have one. Besides, she still had two large-capacity storage rings of her own; it was a waste to let all that storage space go unused.
So she said, "Uncle, why don’t you start packing things up? I’m going to take another look around and see if we missed anything. I just have this nagging feeling..."
"In a place this small? What could we have missed?" Zhang Wei Qiang chuckled but didn’t stop her. He went ahead and stowed the table and screen in the bag. Just as he finished, he heard Gu Nuan Nuan shout, "Uncle, hurry, come look at this! We might need your Flying Sword!"
"Don’t tell me there’s actually something else?"
Zhang Wei Qiang walked over and saw Gu Nuan Nuan crouching before a crack in the wall, prying at the loose stones. A corner of cloth was faintly visible behind them. He immediately jumped into action. With his Flying Sword, he quickly dug out another storage bag—this one with a capacity larger than the other two combined. The contents inside were clearly more valuable as well.
"Well, I’ll be. Your luck is really something else," Zhang Wei Qiang said, completely impressed by Gu Nuan Nuan’s good fortune.
"But of course! Haven’t you heard? I’m so charming that people love me, flowers bloom for me, and tires burst on passing cars," Gu Nuan Nuan said smugly.
"Yes, yes, the little girl who makes tires burst. I guess you don’t plan on ever riding in a car again, huh?" Zhang Wei Qiang teased, unable to help but smile at her smug expression.
