Rebirth: My CEO Husband's Thoughts Are Too Shameless
Chapter 212: At least one of them has his priorities straight
The leader stared at Lily’s suspiciously cheerful face.
"What’s that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing!" Lily replied sweetly. "Actually, since you gentlemen have worked so hard destroying our bakery, wouldn’t you like something to drink?"
Silvia turned toward her with an exaggerated smile.
"Of course! We should at least offer them some refreshments before they destroy the rest of our livelihood."
Gen pressed her lips together to suppress a laugh.
The leader frowned.
"Do you think we’re idiots?"
Lily tilted her head.
"Would you like me to answer that honestly?"
"Lily!" Gen hissed.
"What? He asked!"
The man’s face turned red with anger. He took a threatening step forward, but Lily immediately raised both hands.
"Fine! No refreshments! Goodness, some people really don’t appreciate hospitality."
While Lily kept the men distracted, Gen discreetly slipped behind the counter.
Silvia noticed and quickly stepped forward, deliberately blocking the leader’s view.
"By the way, who’s paying for all this damage?"
The man scoffed.
"That’s none of your business."
"Excuse me? It’s our bakery!"
"Not anymore."
Silvia’s expression hardened, but she forced herself to remain calm.
"Oh, really? Then I suppose you won’t mind telling us who sent you."
The leader sneered.
"Why should I?"
"Because I’d like to send him a bill," Silvia replied. "Preferably one that gives him a heart attack."
Behind the counter, Gen finally managed to retrieve the spare phone they kept for customer orders.
She quickly opened the camera and began recording.
Lily caught sight of her and immediately raised her voice.
"So, gentlemen! Since you’ve already broken our security cameras, what’s next? Are you planning to burn the place down, too?"
"Shut your mouth!" the leader snapped.
"Oh, I’m sorry. Was that supposed to be a secret?"
One of the men glanced nervously at his boss.
"Boss, maybe we should just finish the job and leave."
The leader ignored him.
Instead, he grabbed Lily’s arm.
"You think you’re clever, don’t you?"
Lily’s smile instantly disappeared.
"Let go of me!"
Silvia immediately rushed forward.
"Take your filthy hands off her!"
Before the situation could escalate, Gen emerged from behind the counter.
"Go ahead. Touch her again."
The leader turned toward her, only to freeze when he noticed the phone in her hand.
Gen smiled triumphantly.
"Congratulations, gentlemen. You’re officially the stars of our latest video."
Lily immediately recovered her composure.
"And don’t worry. We’ll make sure the police get the first screening!"
The leader’s expression darkened.
"Give me that phone!"
He lunged toward Gen.
"RUN!" Lily screamed.
And just like that, Operation Save Our Bakery descended into absolute chaos.
The men had lost track of how long they had been chasing the three women around the bakery. Despite having them hopelessly outnumbered, they had somehow failed to catch even one.
"Boss! How are these girls so damn fast?" one of the men complained, panting heavily.
"Stop talking and catch them!" their leader roared.
"I’m trying!"
"Then try harder, you idiot!"
Meanwhile, Lily darted behind a table, narrowly escaping the man lunging toward her.
"Missed me!" she sang before sticking out her tongue.
The man stopped, his face turning crimson.
"YOU LITTLE—"
"Careful! High blood pressure is dangerous at your age!"
"BOSS! I’M GOING TO KILL HER!"
Their leader rubbed his throbbing forehead.
Kevin had specifically instructed them to frighten the women into leaving. How had a simple job turned into a ridiculous game of hide-and-seek?
"Forget that one! Catch the girl with the phone!" he ordered.
Immediately, two men charged toward Gen.
Unfortunately for them, Silvia had other plans.
"Gentlemen! Looking for someone?"
Both men turned, only to find her standing beside a large sack of flour.
Before they could react, she grabbed a handful and flung it straight at them.
"AHH! MY EYES!"
"WHAT THE HELL?"
A cloud of white flour engulfed them.
Lily burst into laughter.
"Oh, Silvia! You finally found a use for your anger!"
"Shut up and keep running!"
The leader stared at his flour-covered men in disbelief.
"Are you two seriously getting beaten by a bunch of bakers?"
One of them coughed.
"Boss, nobody told us they were armed!"
"ARMED WITH WHAT? FLOUR?"
"It’s getting into my underwear!"
"THEN STOP COMPLAINING!"
Just then, Gen climbed onto a chair near the entrance and raised her phone triumphantly.
"Gentlemen! I suggest you stop running before someone has a heart attack!"
The leader spun toward her.
"Give me that damn phone!"
Gen smiled sweetly.
"Oh, this? Too late. I’ve already sent the video."
The men froze.
"Sent it? To whom?" their leader demanded.
Gen’s smile widened.
"To Officer Ethan. I’m sure he’ll be delighted to see all your handsome faces."
For a moment, the entire bakery fell silent, then one of the flour-covered men slowly turned toward his boss.
"Boss... did she just say Officer Ethan?"
Their leader’s face went pale.
Lily folded her arms, looking thoroughly pleased with herself.
"Surprise! Your free trip to the police station is officially booked!"
"Officer Ethan?" one of the men repeated, his voice cracking.
Their leader glared at him.
"Stop repeating his name, you idiot!"
"But, Boss! Isn’t he the officer who arrested those criminals from the Morritte Clan?"
"SHUT UP!"
Unfortunately, his reaction only confirmed everyone’s suspicions.
Lily’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
"Oh? So you gentlemen know him! Wonderful! That means we won’t have to waste time on introductions."
Silvia folded her arms, looking rather pleased with herself.
"I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to meet such hardworking individuals. Breaking furniture, threatening women, destroying security cameras... Such impressive qualifications!"
Gen nodded solemnly.
"Don’t forget trespassing."
"Right!" Lily snapped her fingers. "How could I forget? We should prepare a proper résumé for them."
The leader’s face darkened. "Enough of your nonsense! Give me that phone!"
He took a step forward, intending to snatch the phone from Gen, when one of his men hurriedly stopped him.
"Boss! Are you trying to get us all arrested? The police could be here any minute!"
The leader paused, his brows furrowing. "She’s obviously ly—" Before he could finish, another man interrupted him.
"Boss, please! I’m too young to go to jail! I haven’t even gotten married yet. What if my girlfriend gets tired of waiting and marries someone else?"
"..."
The leader stared at him in disbelief.
"Are you seriously worried about your wedding right now?"
"Of course I am! Do you have any idea how difficult it was to find a girlfriend?"
Lily nearly burst out laughing.
Silvia shook her head. "At least one of them has his priorities straight."
Gen smiled innocently. "Don’t worry. You can always invite us to the wedding. Assuming Officer Ethan lets you out in time."
The man’s face instantly turned pale.
"BOSS! LET’S GET OUT OF HERE!"
