Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1504: Leaving Something Behind
On the twenty-fifth day of the lunar month, Xiang Dong returned with his wife.
Unexpectedly, he also brought his wife and child along with gifts to the Wei Family.
Jiang Xinyu smiled and gave the child, Li Hongyuan, a red envelope, "This is for the child as lucky money. The child is still young, it’s appropriate, you shouldn’t refuse."
Xiang Dong’s wife seemed quite honest. If she really is a genuine person, Xiang Dong is quite lucky.
While the men chatted outside, Jiang Xinyu accompanied Xiang Dong’s wife, Shi Wenjie, in conversation.
Only then did she find out that she also worked at the pesticide factory, and had a pretty good job as a statistician.
"Teacher Jiang, Xiang Dong told me that your accounting is particularly good. He even showed it to me, but I didn’t understand it."
This young wife studied accounting before. Their family lineage included bookkeepers.
Jiang Xinyu didn’t hold back and simply explained the debtor-creditor accounting to her.
"Teacher Jiang, you are really amazing."
"Not really, this was also taught to me. But it might not be suitable for your accounting, I don’t quite understand current bookkeeping methods either."
"Teacher Jiang, your bookkeeping method is clear."
"You can try it and see if it suits you."
The two continued talking about life and children.
"You both work, who looks after the child?"
"My grandparents take care of the child."
Jiang Xinyu nodded, this was good, but she didn’t inquire why the parents weren’t helping with childcare.
Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang were seated outside, Xiang Dong had mellowed significantly in the past two years and had figured many things out. Although he still felt he hadn’t been treated well, he wasn’t as fiercely cynical as he was initially.
He had increasingly been traveling in recent years, spending roughly half the year away.
"My wife’s parents have both passed away, leaving only her grandparents, and we currently live with the elderly. It’s very reassuring to have elders help take care of the child."
Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang understood. This implied he was a live-in son-in-law. But this was quite good, as it wasn’t evident on the surface, and the child was still surnamed Li.
"Are you satisfied with your current job? Do you have any intention to further your studies? We’ve heard rumors that college entrance exams might resume. If you’re interested, you could start revisiting your textbooks." Wei Kaiyun asked with a smile.
Xiang Dong thought for a moment before shaking his head, "Master Wei, I’m very content with my current life. I also enjoy being out and about, I find it gives me a sense of achievement."
Wei Kaiyun nodded with a smile, "It’s not necessary to attend school to be successful."
They declined the invitation to stay for a meal, "Master Wei, I’ll be eating at home, and we need to head back in the afternoon."
"Alright, I’ll take you to the station."
This time Xiang Dong didn’t refuse. Shi Wenjie followed behind Xiang Dong, carrying the child.
"Teacher Jiang is really quite impressive."
"Indeed, she’s a college graduate. Master Wei even mentioned earlier that college entrance exams might resume and asked if I was interested in pursuing college."
Shi Wenjie felt uneasy hearing this. If Xiang Dong attended college, what would happen to their family of four? Though they weren’t solely relying on him to support the family, there’s a difference between two income earners and one. However, she wisely kept her thoughts to herself.
"I refused. I’m very content with my current life, just leave it at that."
At noon Yue Lanfeng prepared a rather sumptuous meal, featuring braised pork, braised fish, and braised chicken.
The family savored a harmonious meal together.
Xiang Dong then took his wife and child to visit Li Yungui’s home. Changhe had a grudge against him, and the other younger ones didn’t quite welcome him.
He stayed only ten minutes before heading home.
Feeling that it was about time, Xiang Dong informed Li Yunqiang before heading to the Wei Family.
In the evening, Wei Kaiyun embraced Jiang Xinyu and talked about Xiang Dong’s changes.
"He is someone with a strong sense of jealousy. When he had no abilities, it wasn’t obvious, but when Changyang surpassed him, he couldn’t accept it."
Wei Kaiyun agreed with his wife’s words.
"However, Xiang Dong’s wife is smart."
"That’s quite good. With Xiang Dong often away, it’s beneficial to have a smart wife at home."
The next day, the two of them took four children to the city, mostly to make up for what the younger ones were missing, taking them out for a stroll.
They bought food, clothes, and essentials for them.
During Chinese New Year, it was all about eating and drinking, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Guodong and Li Xue returned home, also mentioning the rumored resumption of college entrance exams. Li Yunqiao’s intention was for Hong Lin and his spouse to also attend college. However, having been away from their textbooks for many years, they couldn’t pick it back up, so they gave up.
On the twentieth day of the first lunar month, Chaoyang wanted to return home. Jing Chu didn’t want to leave at all, wanting to study alongside everyone, but Chaoyang disagreed, not willing to separate from his wife.
"Alright, you can teach him even near Chaoyang. If you get news, you can come back."
"Then it’ll be too late. I think the four teachers are exceptionally good." Jing Chu pouted very reluctantly.
"If you and Chaoyang discuss it and he agrees, you can stay. I think college entrance exams will definitely happen this year."
"Then I certainly don’t want to go back. Aunt Jiang, can you talk to Uncle Wei and Uncle Han?"
"Alright. You two should discuss it first."
Chaoyang listened to his wife, knowing they could stay behind, and he was overjoyed.
Wei Kaiyun drove to the city the next day, and Han Xiangjun was certainly not pleased.
"Will college entrance exams really resume this year?"
"Yes, they will. After we get the news, our family will return with the children.
Old Yang can’t go; after all, Zhao Xiaoli is an educated youth, and she must take the exams here."
"When you return, you take charge of everything."
"Alright, I’ll handle everything. You just worry about eating, drinking, and enjoying yourself."
"Okay then, if you’re not coming back, you’re not coming back. But there shouldn’t be a shortage of wine, right?
Make sure you talk to Lv Beiguang. So he’s not tempted to run off with the kids, what about the wine then?"
"No need to mention it, he has to work hard to earn money, he still has three kids."
"Indeed, this guy is truly remarkable, even at this age, he still has the courage to raise three little kids."
"When a wife gets pregnant, it’s not like you won’t have kids. Xiao Yang is still young."
"Beauty is deceiving. Alright, I’m all in this year."
Wei Kaiyun arrived at the county transport team, arranged for a vehicle for the next day, and helped Yang Yujie retrieve a package sent from the Capital at the post office before heading home.
The educated youths returned according to schedule, each of them bringing regional specialties and collectively delivering them to Li Yungui.
"Thank you all very much. However, I really can’t accept it, you should all take them back. As long as you work diligently, I will be equally good to you."
Li Yungui ultimately didn’t accept the gifts, as it wasn’t easy for them to bring them back from afar. Furthermore, he had little interest in southern foods.
