Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack
Chapter 1850 - 1830:
Chapter 1850: Chapter 1830:
Qhianqhian felt speechless and helpless for a moment. He was right, even if she pitied their misfortune and was angry at their lack of progress, she couldn’t take action for them.
After all, this wasn’t something she could meddle in.
More importantly, she didn’t feel those people were salvageable. They couldn’t even discern goodwill. Was there any point? After all, she wasn’t a saint, talking about turning over a new leaf or universal salvation, or about not holding past grudges...
Even if she was, she should be a Saintess... That’s right, she still had that title...
The only unresolved puzzle that Star Path left her, a mystery that remained inexplicable despite her confusion.
"Shiliu, Shiqi, you... uh, what’s going on?" Seeing the two come in, Mo breathed a sigh of relief, ready to say something, but upon seeing the little dwarf brought in, his eyes widened in disbelief, staring at the two.
"Tantan? How did you come here?" The Great Elder heard and looked at the two, instantly spotting the little girl they were holding.
The little dwarf looked uneasily at the Great Elder, shrinking back behind the two without saying a word, but her attitude already explained everything.
"Well... this little girl seems to really like us and doesn’t fit in with the other dwarves." Qhianqhian, observing the little dwarf’s instinctive reaction, smiled bitterly, "Did something happen in her family? She doesn’t seem to have anyone to play with..."
"Tantan isn’t a dwarf; she was a child we picked up during the migration. If she likes you, just take her; it’s fate." The Great Elder, seeing the little girl’s reaction, felt rather helpless.
Even after all this time, she treated everyone like this, but she could still grab onto Qhianqhian and He Wenyu, indicating a slight fondness.
After all, raising her so long, she was not some random cat or dog. It was hard to part with her. However, even if he wanted to adopt her, the tribe viewed her as an outsider.
Initially, he told the tribe she was a child with half-dwarf blood, but as time passed and the child grew, she looked increasingly unlike a dwarf, becoming a burden to him. Back then, the dwarf tribe was very exclusionary, unable to accept even a child. If he hadn’t said that, he really couldn’t have kept her.
Though he was reluctant, he should still find her a good environment in which to grow.
Their tribe truly wasn’t the best environment for her growth.
Qhianqhian suddenly fell silent. Was she really going to take a child home again?
Fortunately, she could accompany Lin Nianan, so there was a way to manage it. Besides, the Nine Heavens Pavilion had adopted a group of children, right? Adding one more wasn’t a big deal.
However, Mo’s expression became gloomy. He didn’t understand why, but he felt like Huozi seemed to have schemed against him, as if Qhianqhian might make him take the child away.
After all, the old man’s affection seemed genuine.
What was it about this child that made the old man love her so much?
"Sister..." The little dwarf held onto Qhianqhian and He Wenyu’s hands, calling tearfully.
He Wenyu softened instantly. This little cutie wasn’t unaware of things, and she had cared for children like Lin Nianan at that age. What’s more, this child was older. Instantly confident, she patted Qhianqhian’s shoulder, "It’s easier than Lin Nianan. Maybe she’ll be your nephew’s wife later!"
"A sister-in-law is more reliable." Qhianqhian sighed, looking at Mo. "I’ll take her to Forget Worries Tea House, and ask Fourth Brother and Fourth Sister-in-Law to help care for her. We can’t just ignore a kid calling me sister, can we?"
Mo sighed helplessly, ultimately nodding before glaring at Huozi, who looked relieved, "Plotting against me? I was going to give you another barrel, but forget it, I’ll keep it to share with the old man back home!"
After saying that, he turned to leave.
But the Elders panicked, and instantly a Huge Hammer flew through the air, blocking their path at the cave entrance...
"Haha, let’s talk it over, right..."
"Exactly, exactly, these two girls need weapons, right? Come, come, bring over the weapons, let me take a look." The red-haired Elder appeared generous.
Even the Great Elder had never seen such an attitude, let alone Mo and his group, who were instantly filled with astonishment and a bit of bewilderment.
Mo nodded at the two, prompting He Wenyu to present her hammer, more fitting than a longsword or anything else.
"Hey, you, girl, have my heart. Let me take a look." Seeing the weapon, the red-haired Elder’s eyes lit up, and He Wenyu shrugged shoulder, saying nothing.
After a moment of looking at it, he nodded, "If strengthening it to the max, it would be better to forge a new pair, but you know the cost of materials and crafting... It’s not something that can be solved with a barrel of wine."
Mo rolled his eyes, "If it can’t be solved, let it be. I’ll leave the wine for my old man to drink; he won’t be stingy. I don’t believe the vast weapons in my family arsenal don’t include a pair of hammers?" With a look of disdain, he was ready to take Qhianqhian and He Wenyu away.
But he didn’t forget to signal to Qhianqhian.
What a joke, even if his place had weapons, none were more suitable than custom ones for He Wenyu! Missing this opportunity would be foolish! But they couldn’t let them raise the price arbitrarily, right? Bargaining was something he learned in modern times.
Qhianqhian sighed wistfully, "Such a shame. If the wine were paired with Shiliu’s beef jerky, it’s a perfect combo, but if you’re unwilling to make the weapon, forget it, save the money to buy candy for the kid." She blinked at He Wenyu.
He Wenyu restrained her excitement, nodding eagerly and putting away the hammer, "Anyway, I still have my longsword, which is rather ethereal." She glanced at Mo, "Let’s go, let’s go, and I’ll make you some grilled meat back home."
"Sister, I want to give the Great Elder some candy." Tantan timidly looked at Qhianqhian and He Wenyu, tightly holding the small box in her hands, "These are all mine, can I give it to the Great Elder?"
"You decide for yourself." Qhianqhian nodded with a smile, stopping to watch Tantan warmly. What a likable child!
Watching a little round, pink candy ball get popped into the Great Elder’s mouth at Tantan’s gesture, the Elder squinted in pleasure. The other elders were hurriedly worried, what’s going on? He didn’t say anything, what does this mean? Was the Elder poisoned by Tantan?
"Give me one!" The red-haired Elder reached out to He Wenyu, "No one here knows more about forging hammers than me!"
He Wenyu’s lips twitched, why not ask Tantan instead?
Tantan timidly went over and handed him one, quickly hiding behind Qhianqhian afterward...
