Chapter 575: Devour! Devour! Devour! Devouring for Majestic Might, Devouring for Leaps and Bounds

Shen Fei’s body touched the little turtle.

FWOOSH!

Instantly, the little turtle he touched vanished. A halo of light flashed around him, and the LV1 above his head immediately became LV2.

“Holy crap!”

“Awesome!”

“It really is a rule-based weapon!”

Having leveled to LV2 in an instant, Shen Fei’s eyes lit up as he touched a nearby LV0 turtle egg.

FWOOSH!

The moment he touched it, the turtle egg vanished without a trace. However, his level didn’t go directly from LV2 to LV3.

FWOOSH!

FWOOSH!

FWOOSH!

Only after he touched four more LV0 turtle eggs in a row did a light flash above Shen Fei’s head again. His level changed from LV2 to LV3.

Touching a unit of the same level as me results in an instant level-up! Touching something one level lower requires absorbing two of them, and anything lower than that requires absorbing four!

Shen Fei quickly leveled up twice, and Number 0 next to him was keeping a similar pace. After leveling up twice, Number 0, with its powerful data analysis and logical deduction skills, immediately called out the rule about leveling up by consuming other creatures.

At this moment, Shen Fei was already level three. To reach level four, he needed to devour one LV3 creature, two LV2 creatures, or four LV1 creatures…

“They don’t get absorbed when they touch each other!” Number 0 shouted as it continued to [Devour] turtle eggs while moving rapidly. “Only the four of us with the mission can trigger [Devouring] when we touch others or they touch us!”

Shen Fei listened to Number 0’s analysis while also moving and devouring quickly. He turned his head and saw that the Black Tortoise had climbed ashore, only to stop and stare at a small turtle that looked almost identical to it.

“What are you standing there for?!” Shen Fei shouted in annoyance. “You’re the Black Tortoise, not a turtle!”

He ran over and rammed his head into the Black Tortoise, knocking it forward.

FWOOSH!

The little turtle it collided with instantly vanished, and the level above the Black Tortoise’s head changed from LV1 to LV2. At the same time, after leveling up, the Black Tortoise’s body grew slightly larger.

After headbutting the Black Tortoise to get it moving, Shen Fei—whose own body was also growing larger with each level—raced around, touching all the turtles and turtle eggs on the screen. Leveling up isn’t that fast after all! he thought.

He had originally thought that a screen full of LV0s and LV1s would let his team quickly get through their initial weak phase. Unfortunately, now that the leveling rules were clear, he realized that while leveling was fast at the start, it would slow down once he reached level 10. The exponential experience penalty meant that after level 10, touching LV0 and LV1 turtles would require devouring a huge number of them just to gain a single level.

FWOOSH!

FWOOSH!

FWOOSH!

But even so, Shen Fei kept running and moving quickly. A scene like this was a rare opportunity. Even if the leveling speed slowed down, he wasn’t going to waste it.

“Brother Fei!” Li Xiaohong, flying in the air, swooped over his head and quickly called out as Shen Fei was rapidly touching targets. “You three just charge ahead! I’m picking off all the high-level threats!”

Unlike Shen Fei, who could only run on the ground, Li Xiaohong, with her ability to fly, took to the skies after her first level-up to hunt for creatures of the same level as her. Then, she went straight for the creatures that would let her level up the fastest. Because of this, Xiaohong’s level had already reached LV47.

Although most of the creatures on the beach were LV0 and LV1 little turtles, among these turtle swarms were also many creatures at level 10, 20, and even 30 or 40. While leveling up herself, Xiaohong was also helping Shen Fei’s group by picking off these “dangerous points” in the crowd.

“Alright!” Shen Fei shouted in reply. “You focus on leveling up as fast as possible! Gain as many levels as you can! Don’t stop!”

After shouting to Xiaohong, Shen Fei put his head down and resumed his charge. Xiaohong had the ability to fly, so her being able to level up quickly was a great thing. As long as Xiaohong could level up quickly, it would be a huge advantage, whether she was protecting him later or acting as a high-level character power-leveling the rest of them. Therefore, Xiaohong’s rapid leveling was extremely important!

FWOOSH!

FWOOSH!

FWOOSH!

Following Shen Fei’s instructions, Xiaohong moved even faster. With Xiaohong weeding out the “weeds”—the creatures on the beach with levels higher than Shen Fei and Number 0—Shen Fei and Number 0, with the Black Tortoise in tow, could just charge ahead without worry.

Moreover, as their levels increased, Shen Fei and the others’ bodies were also growing rapidly. Their larger size allowed them to touch several little turtles and turtle eggs with a single charge. Like Pac-Man, they devoured every creature they touched along their path, leaving nothing behind.

After half an hour, the entire beach was empty. The screen that was once filled with health bars now only had a few scattered ones left. Shen Fei’s body had grown from half a meter in size to one and a half meters, and the level above his head had now become LV37. Next to him, Number 0 and the Black Tortoise were of a similar size and level. Above their heads, Xiaohong, her wings now spanning three meters, had reached LV61.

What’s going on? Has the beast tide’s advance slowed down?

They had cleared the entire beach in one go. Shen Fei had originally planned to follow the beast tide into the water to escape the Thorns that had caused the stampede. But he discovered that even after they had completely cleared the beach, the beast tide hadn’t even made it halfway into the water. The speed of the beast tide was gradually slowing down. Now that Shen Fei had reached LV37, the stampeding beast tide had almost come to a complete stop.

Did the Thorns behind us stop chasing? Or did they reach their limit? Maybe they’re full? Watching the beast tide slow down and begin to disperse instead of rushing into the water, Shen Fei couldn’t help but speculate.

SWOOSH!

While Shen Fei was speculating, Xiaohong flapped her wings and shot into the sky to investigate. Soon, she flew back and reported what she had seen.

“The falling trees stopped about thirty kilometers away. The dust clouds are gone too! And there’s no sign of those black-blooded Thorns that were towering in the air!”

After quickly reporting what her Detection had revealed, Xiaohong folded her wings and landed beside Shen Fei.

“Interesting… So it stopped chasing us!”

Listening to Xiaohong, Shen Fei’s gaze couldn’t help but turn toward the direction the Thorns had come from. He understood that he would inevitably have to face this so-called LV1000 Thorns in the future. And that encounter wouldn’t be too far off. Driven by his mission, Shen Fei would have to devour every single creature with a higher level than him.

“Let’s go! Devour! We’ll spread out from this point in all directions!” Shen Fei gave a decisive command. “Black Tortoise, into the sea! Grow by devouring the creatures in the water and scout the aquatic map at the same time! Xiaohong, you’re our special forces. Fly fast and pick off targets. Your objective is to level up as quickly as possible! Number 0 and I will investigate ahead on the ground!”

Without any more hesitation, the team set out. That wave of devouring turtle eggs on the beach had already gotten them past their most vulnerable Newborn Stage. Now, with a base level established, they were no longer as helpless as before. It was time to level up aggressively.

Furthermore, after devouring so many turtle eggs, Shen Fei also felt that along with his level increase, his stamina had been restored. [Devouring] didn’t just increase his level and size; it also eliminated hunger.

Right now, the entire forest ahead had been trampled to bits by the dinosaur beast tide, and the waters behind them had been thrown into chaos by the dinosaurs that rushed in. This was the perfect opportunity for his team to level up quickly. There was no reason to wait.

Just devour!

FWOOSH!

At Shen Fei’s command, his team immediately sprang into action. This action continued for three days…

ROAR!

「Three days later.」

A massive dinosaur, over twenty meters long and nearly the size of an adult Tyrannosaurus, stood on the beach. Next to it was a Triceratops over ten meters tall, a Winged Dragon with a wingspan of more than twenty meters, and a giant turtle with a shell diameter of well over ten meters.
