Bang!

The monster’s chest exploded as blood, bones, and flesh splashed everywhere in the air.

William watched the monster fall from the sky, crashing against the hard ground.

"Whew!" He exhaled a mouthful of air and, after checking his Aether Energy, couldn’t help but shake his head.

’Now I only have 50% of my Aether Energy left...’ William thought inwardly before descending from the sky.

Even though there was a large hole in its chest, the monster still wasn’t dead.

What surprised William even more was that he could see the hole in its chest slowly recovering.

Although the process was very slow and might take hours for the hole to close, it was clear that as long as the monster was given enough time, it would be able to recover from its injuries.

William stared at the heavily injured monster for some time, and once it finally stopped groaning in pain, he asked in a low voice, "What is your name?"

The monster slowly turned its head in his direction and glared at him with bloodshot eyes.

"Human, you didn’t fight honorably. You used wicked methods to defeat me."

"Wicked methods..." A smile full of disdain appeared on William’s face. "Just because you don’t understand what kind of powers I was using, it doesn’t mean they were wicked. Besides..." He narrowed his eyes, and a cold glint flashed in them.

"Someone who ambushes their opponent when they’re completely unprepared has no right to talk about wicked methods."

If William had been even a little too slow to react when Number One emerged from the ground, Number One and that little girl would have definitely died from this guy’s attack, while he would have been seriously injured.

So, hearing someone like him talking about wicked methods sounded like complete nonsense to William.

The monster remained silent upon hearing William’s words and simply glared at him.

"There is no need to look at me like that," William said calmly when he saw the hatred in the monster’s eyes. "As long as you answer a few of my questions, I won’t kill you."

The monster frowned slightly at William’s words. It looked at him for a few seconds, and after seeing the sincerity in his expression, it took a deep breath and opened its mouth.

"What do you want to know?"

"Let’s start with the basics first," William said as the Blood Moon in his hand disappeared. "What is your name?"

"Malra," The monster responded in a deep voice and William could sense the arrogance in its voice as it stated its name.

"A very good name," William praised him, making the monster’s lips curl up slightly.

Malra was happy because it had named itself, and even among other Crawlers, its name was the envy of others.

Some Crawlers even specifically came to him to ask what kind of names they should choose.

It was famous for suggesting good names. Thus, its status among other Crawlers wasn’t low.

Seeing how easily the monster became happy, William eyes twitched slightly and he began asking the questions on his mind.

Malra felt that William was a good person because he had praised its name, so it answered almost all of his questions without hesitation.

A few minutes later, William had a general understanding of the place he was in.

The barren land he was currently on was called the Land of Desolation.

In fact, according to Malra, this entire world was similar to the Land of Desolation, with very few resources.

There were some forests and streams on this land, and these places were all occupied by different beings.

Some were under the control of Crawlers, while others were under the control of humans, powerful beasts, and a few other entities.

He also got some information about Varhan City. According to the Crawler, it would take him about thirty days to reach the city from his current location.

Moreover, it was a city occupied by humans.

William also asked Malra about the Crawler army he had seen the previous night.

But to his surprise, Malra didn’t know anything about the army, meaning it wasn’t part of the massive army he had seen.

For a moment, William wondered if it was lying to him. However, judging by its expression, the possibility didn’t seem very high.

"If you are not part of the Crawler army, then what were you doing here?"

"I live here," Malra answered immediately. "This place is my home."

"Your home?" William frowned slightly at its answer. "Does that mean there are many other Crawlers similar to you living here?"

He couldn’t help but feel tense as he asked this question. The commotion caused by their earlier fight had been considerable, and if there were other Crawlers similar to Malra nearby, what if they came looking for him?

Even if he could defeat them, William really didn’t want to engage in a fight against them.

Malra opened its mouth to answer William’s question, but suddenly, it paused, and its figure glitched.

A second later, it returned to normal and finally spoke.

"I live here. This place is my home."

"Hmm?" William noticed the strange anomaly around Malra and raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"You already told me you live here. I asked if there are other Crawlers living here besides you."

Malra once again opened its mouth to answer William’s question, but the next instant, the same thing happened. Malra’s figure glitched, and the next second, it spoke again.

"I live here. This place is my home."

William felt a chill run down his spine and couldn’t help but take a step back.

’What the fuck is going on here?’

He looked around vigilantly, wondering if there was someone powerful nearby playing with him.

But even with his heightened senses, he couldn’t sense any presence nearby.

Moreover, judging by Malra’s expression, it seemed completely unaware of the strange phenomenon happening to it.

Forcing himself to remain calm, William changed the subject and asked about something else that had been bothering him.

"How can you move during the daytime? Don’t you Crawlers only move at night?"

This time, Malra didn’t even open its mouth before its figure glitched violently once again. A second later, it spoke.

"I live here. This place is my home."
