Re-Awakened :I Ascend as an SSS-Ranked Dragon Summoner
Chapter 849: Bloodline legacy
Noah moved through the wreckage field like something that had stopped counting.
The first wave after the armor came on didn’t survive contact. He caught the nearest Zenomurph’s charging tail on Excaliburn’s flat, redirected the momentum, and used the creature’s own follow-through to spin himself into a full rotation, blade trailing violet light in a wide arc that opened three more approaching bodies from hip to shoulder in one continuous sweep.

He didn’t stop moving through the notifications. His body had found a rhythm now, something between combat and dance, Harbinger Skin absorbing every glancing tail strike that got through his guard and feeding the stored force straight back into Warden’s Wake’s growing reservoir.
A cluster of six broke from the wreckage to his left, and mid-step, something on the ground caught his eye. A ribcage, old, bleached pale, half-buried in the cracked dirt, and strapped loose around one curved bone, the same small device he’d seen venting violet gas earlier, cracked open and long dead now.
Another one a few feet past it. Then another, further out, half-swallowed by the same wiry lichen crawling over the wrecked ships.
’They’ve been doing this a while,’ he thought, stepping over the remains without really meaning to slow down. ’Not just today. Not just this ship. However many times they’ve had to land here, salvage, repair, whatever this place is to them, they show up with that gadget already strapped on, like it’s just part of the uniform out here.’
He ducked a wild swing, barely registering it, mind still chewing on the thought.
’You don’t carry standard gear for a threat you’ve only met once.’
He met them head-on, dropping low under the first real swing, driving Excaliburn upward in a diagonal cut that split one clean from hip to shoulder. He didn’t wait for it to fall.
’It all makes sense,’ he thought, already turning toward the next one. ’This isn’t a stronghold. Far from it. These species couldn’t be conquered. So they made a a leash,’
His free hand closed into the shape of a barrel.
"Void Barrage."
THOOM! THOOM! THOOM! THOOM! THOOM!
Five bolts tore loose in a fanned spread, each one finding a different target in the cluster, and where erasure met flesh there was no blood, no mess, just clean absence, cauterized wounds smoking at the edges of nothing at all.

Two more staggered from partial hits, and Noah blinked between them before they could recover, reappearing with his back to both simultaneously, and drove his elbows backward into their exposed ribs at the exact same instant, the impact folding both of them forward into each other.
He spun, caught one by the back of the skull, and slammed his knee up into its face hard enough to feel the cartilage give way beneath the plating of his greave.
Void Blink again, this time straight up, and he came down from above with Excaliburn leading, splitting a Zenomurph clean down the center as he landed, the blade barely slowing on contact.

The remaining ones from the pack scattered wide, some genuine hesitation showing now, and Noah didn’t let it last. He surged forward, closing the gap on the nearest straggler in a single stride, and this time he didn’t reach for void energy or chi at all.
He simply hit it.
The strike carried something different this time, something that lived at the intersection of draconic strength and human precision, a concentrated point of force that didn’t cut so much as unmake whatever it touched. The Zenomurph’s chest didn’t just cave inward. It tore, matter and bone and whatever passed for organs shredding outward in a spray that painted the cracked ground dark red for a dozen feet in every direction.
Rend.
Noah looked at his own hand for half a second, blood dripping thick from his knuckles, something cold and clinical settling into his expression.
’That’s a mess,’ he thought, already turning toward the next threat. ’Erasure’s cleaner. This isn’t.’
He didn’t reach for erasure again for a long while.
A wave of eight came at him from the wreckage’s far edge, moving in something closer to coordinated formation than anything he’d seen from them yet, tails snapping in near unison. Noah blinked into the center of the formation before they closed, and used Excaliburn in a wide horizontal sweep that opened the two flanking him instantly, blood arcing bright against the pale, dust-choked sky.
He planted his foot hard against the cracked earth and released a burst of red-white energy directly into the ground.
BOOOM!
The shockwave rippled outward, throwing three more Zenomurphs off balance, and Noah closed on the nearest one before it could recover, driving three rapid VPT strikes into its exposed throat and shoulder, precise little detonations that dropped it choking to the dirt.

He spun into the momentum, caught an incoming claw strike on his forearm, and used the block itself as a launch point, driving his other fist forward into a full Rend that took the attacker’s head clean off its shoulders.

Two more closed from opposite sides, and Noah blinked skyward, reappearing above and between them, and delivered a spinning heel kick with chi wrapped tight around his shin, catching the first across the temple hard enough to snap its neck audibly, while his trailing fist, still crackling with residual void energy, caught the second full in the chest with a Null Strike that erased everything from sternum to spine.

He landed in a crouch, breathing hard now despite the armor, despite his regeneration working overtime, and looked out at the wreckage field.
Bodies everywhere. Dozens already, and still more emerged from between the ruined hulls, drawn by the noise, by the blood, by whatever ancient, broken instinct still governed them after however many generations of this existence.
’How many of you are there,’ Noah thought, wiping blood from his jaw with the back of one gauntlet. ’How many of you did they leave here.’
He didn’t get an answer, and he didn’t need one.
He surged forward into the next wave, and something in him had stopped calculating entirely now, muscle memory and raw instinct taking over where conscious strategy had governed the earlier exchanges. He caught a tail strike on crossed forearms and used the absorbed force to fuel a counter-punch that Rend-tore straight through a second attacker’s skull. He blinked mid-fall to avoid a coordinated pincer attempt, reappearing behind the pair and driving Excaliburn through both of them in a single thrust that pinned them together before he wrenched the blade free.

A larger cluster, ten strong, broke from cover near the ship’s own perimeter, and Noah met the charge without slowing, weaving through the first three strikes on pure reflex, driving Void Blink into the gap between exchanges to reposition mid-combo, reappearing behind the formation’s rear line and cutting a wide arc that opened four of them before the front line had even registered he’d moved.

The remaining six turned to face him properly now, something like actual fear finally showing in their posture, tails coiling tighter, bodies lower to the ground.
Noah didn’t give them the chance to reconsider.
He blinked into the center of them, released a full Void Barrage at point-blank range in every direction at once, and followed the erasure with a spinning Rend-charged elbow that caught the last survivor across the jaw and simply ended it, force tearing through bone and skull in the same motion.

He stood in the aftermath, chest heaving, blood, some his, most theirs, painting the gold-black armor dark in wide streaks. The clearing around him had gone quiet in a way that felt wrong after so long submerged in noise, and Noah turned slowly, scanning the wreckage field for any remaining movement.
More came, further out, drawn by the sheer scale of the violence now, and Noah felt something settle into his chest that wasn’t quite rage and wasn’t quite exhaustion. Just momentum. Pure, uninterrupted momentum, the kind that didn’t leave room for a fight to end until there was genuinely nothing left standing to end it against.
He met the next wave already moving, Excaliburn leading, void energy trailing his off-hand, chi crackling faint along both legs, and the fight became something less like combat and more like erosion, wave after wave breaking against him and simply failing to leave a mark that mattered.
He blinked through a cluster of five, Rend-tore two apart on the way through, erased a third with a Barrage shot fired backward without looking, caught a fourth’s tail strike on his forearm and turned the absorbed force straight back into a counter-punch that ended the fifth in the same breath.

Time stopped meaning much after that. The notifications kept coming, steady, relentless, EXP stacking higher with every fresh body added to the field, and Noah moved through all of it on something that had stopped being conscious decision-making, pure trained instinct carrying him from one kill to the next, void and chi and physical force blending together into a single continuous, unbroken current of violence.
By the time the wreckage field finally, truly went still, the sky had shifted color overhead, the pale alien sun sliding lower toward whatever passed for evening on this cracked, dead world.
Noah stood in the center of it, chest heaving, Excaliburn’s blade dripping dark, both hands scorched and blood-slicked, armor cracked in places from accumulated impact he hadn’t even fully registered taking.
He looked around.
Bodies stretched in every direction, as far as the eye could track, dozens upon dozens, the entire wreckage field transformed into something closer to a killing floor than a graveyard anymore.
His knees finally gave out.
He dropped hard onto the cracked ground, sitting in the middle of it all, breathing ragged, arms hanging loose at his sides, Excaliburn’s tip resting against the ground beside him.
In the distance, the mothership’s engines flared bright, cargo secured, extraction complete, and it began its slow climb back toward open sky, the three-horn nowhere visible anymore, already retreated inside before the ramps had even fully closed.
Noah watched it go, too spent to feel much of anything about it beyond distant, exhausted acknowledgment.
[QUEST COMPLETE: A species reshaped by conquest still bleeds like any other]

[NEW PATHWAY UNLOCKED: BLOODLINE LEGACY]
Noah’s eyes tracked to the notification, surprised at a notification like this in the middle of no where.
Then red text bled into view beneath it, stark against the pale evening light.
[NEW PATHWAY (STAGE ONE) : PLANET KILLER]
Noah stared at the two words for a long moment, kneeling alone in a sea of the dead, the ship shrinking into the sky above him, and said nothing at all.
