Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 354: Ch 353: The Test

  • Next Chapter

There were over 10,000 people gathered in the stadium where the test was going to take place.

At first, Kael had not wanted to use this place and preferred to use a small building instead. But because of the huge number, he had to rethink his choices.

Not that he did not understand why the non-awakened had come here in droves.

The world was no longer a safe or secure place. People were getting laid off from their jobs all the time, and as a result, they had nowhere to go now. And that was why they ended up doing dangerous jobs.

Then, out of nowhere, a god-like place comes along with good benefits and not a lot of demands. It even has a reputation and government backing to secure it.

No wonder everyone came here to try their luck out.

But no matter how much Kael wanted to help them all, there was only so much he could do. So he had to narrow down the people who came here to take the test.

"Everyone, are you ready? I will open the test window for you. But those who feel sick must leave immediately. Please be ready on the count of 3."

Kael told everyone as he raised his staff.

The non-awakened looked nervous but excited at the same time. And soon, a blue light covered the area and the non-awakened, telling them that it was time for them to start.

Most of the people started to answer the questions in front of Kael, but a few people looked pale and even fainted.

These were the people who had a magic allergy and were disqualified as a result.

Kael noticed a few more pale faces that were trying to do their best to keep up and not show their reaction to the pain they must be feeling.

Kael understood their desperation quite well. As someone who had been in the job-seeking market before, he understood that people were willing to endure whatever they could if it meant getting paid.

But this was not a problem enduring could resolve.

Being in a guild would mean being constantly exposed to magic. So Kael decided to knock these people out as well.

That immediately brought the number in front of him down by half, but that was to be expected.

This world had not had magic for even a month, so it was too much to expect people’s bodies to have fully accepted it. Even in Kael’s old world, there were people who were allergic to magic.

Anyway, the main point was that in order to work for his guild, people needed to be careful and make sure they could handle magic around them. And anyone with allergies was not allowed.

With most of the people filtered out, it was time to bring the test up a notch. Kael needed to hurry up and finish the things here so that he could head back and do more work...

"Goddammit! I am beginning to sound like those work-obsessed freaks. What’s next? I will keep thinking about work even when I am asleep?"

He questioned, only to get a look from Iris. Seraphina sighed at his side but wisely chose not to say anything.

It was better for Kael this way as well. But he still felt a little bitter that he was in here, stressing about work while there were some people out there, having fun blasting everything away and blowing away tax money.

The whole building shook as soon as he thought of that, and he felt validated immediately.

He had a feeling it was Lyra’s doing in order to drag some rats out, but he also felt like it was better for him not to ask what was going on.

...

"Lyra, calm down a little. You are going to kill these kids at this rate."

Leon pointed out as he placed a hand on Lyra’s shoulder to calm her down. But Lyra just looked like she was having too much fun to stop at the moment.

"Eh...? Who cares? If they die, then they are weak. Besides, did they not come here to kill us? Why do we need to care about their lives?"

The look in Lyra’s eyes was wild, and it seemed as if half of her reasoning was being controlled by her desire to hurt and kill others.

It was not uncommon for demons to slip into such a state, especially when they were tense. But it did make Leon shake his head.

But in the end, he decided that he did not need to hold Lyra on a leash. He let her free, and she chased after the intruders, causing them to run. Her powers made the building shake, making it impossible for the intruders to hide from her.

And those who did hide were caught by Elena before they could be killed.

"Tsk, you are such a killjoy. Do you truly have to take my prey away from me?"

Lyra asked as she looked at Elena with a tense look in her eyes. She was still in her hunting mode, so it was possible that she was not going to calm down quickly and might attack Elena as well.

Elena knew that as well, so she remained out of the world and inside her shadows.

"I am just doing what Kael has asked us to. He would be disappointed if the prey he tried so hard to catch ended up dead. Don’t you think so, Lyra?"

Elena asked, and Leon felt like Lyra would attack her for these words. The atmosphere was tense enough for such a thing to happen.

But it did not happen, and in the end, Lyra just let out a sigh and forcefully calmed herself down.

"Tsk, you are so boring. I honestly expected better from you. You are also a coward for invoking Kael’s name."

She complained, but she had calmed down in the end. In the end, Elena’s tricks had worked, and these people were captured successfully.
