Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 283: Ch 282: You killed them all
"The council room is..."
Kael reached the council room where the meeting was going to be held, but the condition of this place was less than ideal. The whole place was broken apart, and people were lying around like dead statues without any hint of life in their eyes.
Logically, he knew that there was only one person who could do this, but his heart refused to accept the truth of what happened.
The corruption could not have spread this far so soon?
"I should check up on these people."
Kael approached a body and tried to touch it, only for the person to suddenly turn their eyes toward him and try to reach him like a zombie.
It startled Kael enough to the point where he suppressed a yell and tried to take a step back, only for his leg to be grabbed.
"H-Help me...!"
The zombie yelled, and he tried to keep his hold on Kael’s leg. But he was growing weaker and weaker by the second. Soon, that body began to decay and disappear.
Kael was the only one who stood in the middle of these bodies while clutching his staff in his hand. But he could see that the other dead bodies were starting to get affected as well.
"I should do something to preserve them at least."
Kael did not like these nobles, but that did not mean he wished them to be dead either. He just wanted a calm and nice future where they could live in peace and harmony...but mostly leave him and his kids alone.
Unfortunately, that was no longer possible, but at least their families deserved to have the bodies of their family members returned...
But Kael did not realize this was a trap until he reached out to cast the preservation spell and the main door opened.
The guard who looked inside was shocked to see the nobles dead and Kael standing in the middle of the room. He had gotten orders to catch the person murdering nobles, and according to the guard, he had just caught the culprit.
But how could Grand Master Kael be brought in for a meeting?
Kael, who was unaware of this confusion in the guard’s mind, let out a sigh and looked at him with a concerned expression.
"You are here? That’s good. Now help me preserve these bodies. We need to give them back to their families and-"
The guard immediately hardened his eyes and raised his weapon. It had an anti-magic barrier installed that he quickly used to try and subdue Grand Master Kael.
"Grand Master Kael, you are under arrest for murdering the council members and the nobles. Please do not resist and come back with me without much fuss. Otherwise, I will be forced to take strict action."
The guard told Kael with a sharp look in his eyes.
Kael felt the anti-magic barrier around him, but he was not bothered by it. If he wanted to break it, then it was easy enough.
What did surprise him was the pinched look on the guard’s face as he looked at Kael. He looked depressed, almost as if he was ready to die at any given second.
’Is this guard...afraid that I might kill him? More importantly, why did he come here at such a time? It cannot be normal...’
Kael let out a sigh as he realized that this might have been a trap he had fallen into. But for now, it might be for the best if he did not resist. The guard was still hesitant to attack him, which meant that the air could be cleared up between them.
"Hey, it’s fine. I am not here to harm you. In fact, I am here to help out. Also, I am not the one who killed these people. I can make an oath to prove my innocence-"
Kael tried to clear his name, but he was not finished speaking when he watched the guard in front of him drop dead.
Someone had shot this guard, just in time for the other guards to arrive as well.
They all looked at Kael as if he had committed a crime he could not be pardoned for, and Kael let out a curse.
He tried to pinpoint who had killed this guard, but he did not get a chance to.
Heavy anti-magic spells bound his arms and feet, and he looked at another Grand Master who was helping the guards.
"Grand Master Cicil, do you also think that I killed that guard? Please think about it for a moment and feel the magic. This is not mine."
Kael insisted and tried to make the other Grand Master realize the truth. But the other Grand Master let out a sigh and gave Kael a disappointed look.
"Kid, I have been a Grand Master longer than you have been alive. Do you think I won’t recognize your magical signal just because you tampered with it a bit? I am sorry, but you are not getting out of this situation so easily."
The situation was going from bad to worse. No one here seemed to want to hear Kael out.
He looked around, trying to find an opening, but the guards were closing all the gaps. If Kael wanted to leave, then he would need to harm the guards. And then the accusations would come true.
Sigh
"Look, I am sure there are circumstances involved that are making you act this way, but we cannot overlook such a scene this time. You will have to come and stand trial in front of the emperor and the Magic Tower. You do not have a choice."
Kael felt like cursing at that news.
Having a trial meant that he was marked for certain death. There could not be worse news than this.
And yet, he did not panic. At least, he did not have a reason to panic yet. If there was anyone who was willing to listen to him, then it would be the Magic Tower. The people there were more inclined to follow their minds rather than their hearts.
Surely, they would see that Kael had nothing to do with this?
