"It seems like your own followers decided to abandon you. Or rather, should I say your captives? You don’t seem like the person whom people would follow because they liked and respected you. So, did you threaten them?"

Aiden asked as he walked toward the former god.

The River family head had suddenly lost his power, and the change in his body caused him to be unable to use his legs.

As someone who was used to his body being full of power, this new state left him in a pinch, and he looked at Aiden with a shocked expression.

"I...stay away! I am warning you to stay away from me. If you come any closer, then I—"

Aiden stopped walking and, with a smile, raised his gun.

"Alright, I will stay away from you since you asked me to. But that shall be your last request in this life. Now, any words before I dispose of you?"

Aiden asked with a smile on his face, and the former god shook with rage and regret. His eyes looked bloodshot, and he lunged toward Aiden himself.

"Curse you! How dare you make a fool of me? Don’t you know who I am—"

bang

The gunshot hit the former god right in the chest where his heart was, and it exploded.

Aiden had specifically used a gun that was made to kill ’higher beings,’ including minor gods, so a human body was not able to take the impact and disintegrated into thin air.

However, the price of using such a gun was not free either.

[You have used the ’God Slayer prototype I’. Payment in the form of energy will be taken. If the energy requirement exceeds the amount you have, your life force will be taken as compensation]

[Energy requirement has been fulfilled by coins repayment.]

Aiden felt tired after killing the other god, and the repayment sucked any energy out of his body. It was hard for him to even be able to move.

The rain finally started to let up once the one calling for it was killed. But the cold was getting soaked inside Aiden’s body, making him feel even more tired.

"What a hassle. It seems like I will need to work on my physical strength from now on..."

Not that this had anything to do with Aiden’s physical strength. The lack of energy was a system issue that he could not resolve normally.

Aiden’s eyes threatened to close, and he tried his best to keep them open, only to fail.

"Ah, I will just close my eyes and take a small nap."

He decided and closed his eyes before throwing his body back. But he noticed a familiar silhouette heading toward him as soon as his eyes started to flutter shut.

It was a snake-like figure crawling toward him with disappointment filling their divine form. Aiden wanted to let out a laugh, but his body felt too tired.

’Ah, it seems like my goddess finally got tired of waiting and came to fetch me herself. But she should not have come herself. She could have sent someone else—’

The snake form gradually grew bigger and bigger until it was big enough to reach out and grab Aiden.

"What a hassle. You are doing far too much in my name, and I would rather not have you be this tired next time. Do you understand?"

His goddess asked in her sweet voice, and Aiden nuzzled against her side.

He knew that she was scolding him and that she looked disappointed in him for his actions. But if he could do it again, he would without a heartbeat. He wouldn’t even mind getting hurt if it meant he got to stay in her arms.

"Tsk, I should abandon a follower as reckless as you. All you do is cause me trouble."

She told Aiden with a sour expression and a tired voice, but he knew that it was just a mask to hide her real feelings.

His goddess was far too benevolent, and she would never abandon him. She was...just a little too shy to express herself sometimes.

"Ugh, just go to sleep and stop thinking. You also need to deal with the people you picked up here."

Aiden blinked up and felt his insides warm at the slight blush his goddess had on her face. It complemented her current blue hair and pale skin.

Unfortunately, he fell asleep before he could tell her how beautiful she was, and the last thing he heard was his goddess singing in a fond way.

...

Aiden woke up in a hard bed that hurt his back.

He could tell that the bed he was lying on was of the highest quality, and the mattress was considerably superior to what he had seen around.

But Aiden was used to modern luxury, and he had used the system to get them in this world as well. So this kind of mattress felt uncomfortable.

He could tell that he had slept for a long time, but his body did not feel refreshed.

Still, he could not keep sleeping the whole time because his goddess needed him to pull himself together.

Aiden immediately looked around the room for his goddess, only to see her curled up on a pillow he had given her before he left to face the River family head.

It was nice to see his goddess so comfortable, and Aiden decided not to wake her up.

A soft knock attracted his attention, and he quickly headed toward the door to open it before the knocking could wake his goddess up.

"Priest Aiden, I am sorry for bothering you. I am here to ask you about breakfast. Would you like me to bring it to you now?"

Caelion asked in a devoted voice, but Aiden could not focus on his question.

Instead, something outside kept distracting him and grabbing his attention. He was not sure what he was feeling, but he could tell that it was not anything good.

"Caelion, has something happened?"

He asked, only for Caelion’s eyes to harden.

"It is nothing for you to worry about. We can handle this situation ourselves. Priest Aiden need not worry."
