"The weather is truly terrible today. Do you think it is going to rain hard? If so, then should we harvest what we can from the garden?"

Caelion asked as he looked outside at the sky.

Most of the food circulated in this village was grown locally. There was hardly any outside trade, so crops were scarce and well-protected. This weather like this could turn into a disaster.

But Aiden did not think this weather was normal. There was something in the air that told him that a god was about to be born, and this was the result of that awakening.

"Do what you can to harvest the crops. But don’t worry too much about it. Now that you are Goddess Apophis’s people, we will provide you aid in case of an emergency. I will be heading out for now."

It was finally time for Aiden to take care of the biggest trouble in this village—the River family’s god.

Honestly, to say that he was worried would be a lie. Even at this scale, he could tell that the newborn god was weak. He had already lost too many followers.

But Aiden was not going to leave him with a shred of hope. He was going to take away whatever followers he was left with as well.

And to do that, he was going to storm the River family compound and give the slaves a choice.

Caelion’s unhappy expression told him that he was not happy with this decision.

"You wish to go out in such weather? Why not wait for it to calm down first?"

His words made sense, but Aiden shook his head.

"I would much rather take care of it as soon as possible. That way, we can begin expanding our supplies to this village and maybe even clear out a road to connect it to the main village. I don’t want to waste time on useless and unnecessary stuff."

Aiden pointed out, and Caelion looked uncertain, but he nodded to show his support nonetheless.

But first, Aiden needed to do something else. He headed toward his room and placed his goddess back on the bed.

Her unhappy expression told Aiden that she did not appreciate his consideration.

"This little rain won’t kill me. I am not a normal snake but a god. I will be fine in this weather—"

"But I don’t feel comfortable taking you to the hostile territory of another god. It would make me feel much more at ease if you stay here."

Aiden pleaded with the goddess, who still looked agitated. He could see her smacking her tail on the bed before wondering if she should bite him or not.

"You may bite my wrist, or should I offer my neck to you? I won’t mind having your venom in me if it helps you—"

"Tsk, forget about it. You are a reckless fool who does not deserve my grace. If you wish to head out so desperately, then go. But I will only reward you if you come back alive and without harm."

The goddess was sulking, which made Aiden chuckle. She was beautiful and considerate in his eyes, and it made him sad that he had to leave her like this.

But there was just no choice left...

"Goddess Apophis, please don’t worry. I will be back soon."

He told her before he left. His goddess’s blessing surrounded him despite her agitated attitude, and that made him laugh.

His goddess was seriously the cutest. She still cared for him so much even when she pretended otherwise.

Now, it was up to him to uphold her trust, and he clutched his gun tightly. After all, it was time to kill a god, and the system-bought gun was the perfect tool for it.

...

The rain was falling down faster and faster by the second. A normal person wouldn’t even be able to look in front while walking through such rain.

But Aiden had no such problem because of his careful purchases.

The system had various devices, and there were, of course, rain-repellent ones that made it easier for him to walk through this mess.

He quickly headed toward the center of the storm, where the power of a god was the strongest, and he prepared his gun to fire.

And once his gun was aimed right, he fired the shot, making the god drop dead.

But the storm was still raging hard, and the oppressive feeling of facing a god did not lessen. Instead, Aiden felt goosebumps all over his arm as he felt that unnatural presence walking closer to him.

The god he had tried to kill was still alive.

"Is that all you have to show me? In that case, it shall become your grave. Now, let me show you what true power is."

The rain cleared in front of Aiden just enough to show him that the thing he had shot at was another slave.

This god had used one of his followers as a shield in order to avoid getting hit.

Aiden let out a scoff, and he turned around to fire the gun at that god as soon as he sensed his presence nearby.

The god noticed at the last second and quickly replaced himself with another of his followers, causing him to fall dead.

Once he was safe again, the god decided to mock Aiden.

"Don’t you feel sorry for the people you are killing with that weird weapon? What will people say about you and your goddess?"

The former head of the River family asked Aiden as he sacrificed another person. He was trying to break Aiden’s spirit by telling him that he was killing off innocent people.

But as far as Aiden saw it...

"Aren’t the ones sacrificing these followers you?"

The god laughed at Aiden’s words, almost as if he had cracked a joke.

"What do you mean? As my followers, it is only natural that these people lay their lives down for me. Now, come at me as much as you can. I will block all of your attacks and then kill you slowly."

The god promised, bringing out another person to block Aiden’s bullet...only...

No one blocked his way, causing the god to finally get hit.
