Aiden decided to put the artifact in his system storage in the end and not sell it.

No matter how tempted he felt, this artifact was too good to be sold to pay off his debt. Especially since it could end up saving his life one day.

After going through the whole room, he was finally able to find things worth 700,000 coins. That still left him with a 300,000-coin debt.

It was significantly less than when he started, but that did not mean he was happy with this leftover amount either. He would rather not have any if he could help it.

Aiden was busy looking through more stuff to sell when he sensed his goddess’s presence. She walked behind him before she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and rested her cheeks against his.

"What are you thinking so much about? Did you find anything interesting?"

Goddess Apophis asked as she looked at the junk in front of Aiden, causing him to let out a chuckle at her curious tone.

"This is all junk, so please do not pay attention to it. Also, shouldn’t you be resting right now? You spend a lot of energy filling this place up with your power."

Aiden pointed out, and his goddess could not help but chuckle at him.

"I am fine. I can fill this place up ten times and still have more energy left than you. Don’t forget who is the fragile human here."

Goddess Apophis pointed out, and Aiden could not help but let out a chuckle at her words.

"I am aware, my goddess."

The snake-eyed woman let out another chuckle before she looked down at the artifact in his hands.

"That’s a cheap trinket with no magic power. What are you even going to use it for? If you truly want an artifact, then you should tell me. I will get it for you."

Goddess Apophis told Aiden, which indicated that she had a way to get more artifacts.

Ideally, he did not want to bother her about this, but this time...

’I better take her offer before she starts getting suspicious and sneaking her nose into places she is not supposed to.’

"Goddess Apophis, can you get me a high-value artifact that does not serve any real purpose? Since I need to destroy it, I would rather it not be too useful to you. And also-"

The goddess pressed her finger against his lips to keep him quiet. Her amused eyes looked at Aiden while being half-closed, and he felt like he was being judged by her.

"If you have so many conditions for me, then you might as well come with me and choose your own artifact that you need. I have a lot of them in my old lair. However, I could not access it until now because I lacked power and authority."

Goddess Apophis was ready to help Aiden, and he felt relieved.

He also felt happy for her since she was finally powerful enough to head back to her old lair.

Aiden had once read that all gods had secret lairs that were not accessible to humans and sometimes even other gods. So whatever was kept in there was usually lost if a god died.

The only way to retrieve it was to forcefully take away another god’s authority and forcefully open their domain. But it was considered humiliating.

’Oh! I never thought I would be able to see Goddess Apophis’s domain. After all, it is a place where only gods can step in.’

And suddenly, Aiden felt conflicted about whether he should follow his goddess in or not. He really did want to go with her, but he did not want to make others think that she had no authority of her own or that he was insulting her.

"Tsk, you think too much. Stop thinking for a moment and do as I am asking you to."

Goddess Apophis grabbed Aiden from the back of his shirt before she pulled him along. Aiden felt too shocked to do anything but be dragged along behind her.

His insides felt like they were being twisted as he tried his best to keep himself in check. But his stomach had other ideas and made him feel like he was about to vomit.

A cold hand touched his face, and Aiden looked up suddenly, only to see his goddess looking at him with a concern-filled expression.

"Are you alright?"

She asked, and Aiden let out a shaky smile in her direction.

"I am fine, Goddess Apophis. This sudden travelling just made my stomach turn a little. I will be fine soon."

He reassured her, and the goddess nodded before she sat down and pulled him down as well. The hand that had been patting his face reached toward his head before it pushed Aiden down.

Aiden’s head rested on something soft, and before he knew it, he was resting his head on Goddess Apophis’s lap.

"Lady Apophis-"

"Shh, don’t say much and just relax. I am sure you feel tired right now. You should rest for now. We can head in once you are feeling better."

Aiden nodded at his goddess’s words before he closed his eyes and went to sleep. His body relaxed as soon as it hit her lap, and Aiden did not even realize how tense he had been seconds ago.

A cold hand patted his head, and Aiden felt his eyes growing heavier by the second. He knew he was about to fall asleep any second now.

"Shh, don’t fight it. You can go to sleep now. I will wake you up once you have slept enough."

Goddess Apophis whispered, and her low voice lulled Aiden to sleep. He had closed his eyes before he knew it, and he was fast asleep.

His body felt lighter, and he snuggled against the cold of the body holding him.

Despite the awkward position, it was by far one of the best sleeps Aiden had ever gotten in his life. And he was not saying this just because he fell asleep on Goddess Apophis’s lap.
