Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Allocation Plan

Lin Ji pushed open the heavy metal door of the third-floor Captain’s cabin, and a faint scent of high-grade alloy greeted him.

After upgrading to LV4, the entire room’s area had doubled in size.

The floor beneath his feet was still solid wood.

The panoramic porthole directly ahead had been replaced with a hemispherical explosion-proof tempered glass, offering a full view of the turbulent black sea outside.

Lin Ji walked to the window, pulled a Huazi cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag.

"Do you like this new room?"

Lin Ji exhaled a smoke ring and casually asked.

"I do. It’s so much better than where we used to live."

Gu Yihan pressed herself against him from behind.

She was wearing those black athletic shorts, the fabric clinging to her graceful curves.

Gu Yihan extended her pale arms, wrapping them naturally around Lin Ji’s neck, pressing her entire body tightly against his back.

Her long, slender legs occasionally brushed lightly against the side of his legs, sending waves of smooth, slippery sensations.

Lin Ji reached back and wrapped his arm around her astonishingly supple waist, feeling the remarkable texture beneath the black athletic shorts.

He turned around and suddenly spoke.

"There’s a question I’ve been wanting to ask you."

Lin Ji flicked the cigarette ash, his tone calm.

"If, in the future, I end up at war with your father, Gu Tianming—that is, the entire Apocalypse Guild—"

"Which side would you stand on?"

The smile on Gu Yihan’s face instantly froze, and her breath hitched for a moment.

She hadn’t expected Lin Ji to ask her this question so abruptly.

Gu Yihan lowered her gaze, remaining silent for nearly half a minute before finally looking up to meet Lin Ji’s eyes.

"I choose you."

Gu Yihan bit her red lips, her voice trembling slightly, but her tone was unusually firm.

Lin Ji raised an eyebrow, signaling for her to continue.

"In the old world, my dad doted on me, but that was because I was the young lady of the Gu family."

Gu Yihan smiled somewhat self-deprecatingly, snuggling even closer into Lin Ji’s embrace.

"But here, he’s the leader of a guild, an ambitious man striving to dominate these seas."

"In his eyes, I’m now just a waste with only an E-grade talent, no longer worth investing in."

She reached up and gently touched Lin Ji’s stern face, the touch making his skin tingle slightly.

"But you’re different. Only you can help me grow stronger, and only you treat me like real family."

"If I follow him, I’ll eventually be traded away like a bargaining chip."

"But if I follow you, I have a chance to reach the top."

Hearing these words, laced with a fierce determination, a flicker of approval flashed in Lin Ji’s eyes.

He reached out and pinched Gu Yihan’s smooth chin, forcing her to look up.

"Are you sure you won’t regret it? He’s your own father."

Gu Yihan grabbed Lin Ji’s wrist tightly, a resolute glint in her eyes.

"Regret is useless. In this damned place, survival is the only truth."

"I’ve staked my life and my future on you. Don’t let me lose too badly."

Lin Ji looked down at her, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly, his large hand sliding down from her perky buttocks.

When his palm touched that warm, delicate softness, both their breaths grew heavy.

"As long as you don’t betray me, I’ll ensure you ascend to godhood."

Just as the atmosphere in the captain’s quarters was heating up and the two were about to take things further—

Knock, knock, knock.

At that moment, the heavy metal door was suddenly knocked from outside.

"Enter."

Lin Ji patted Gu Yihan’s lower back, signaling her to sit up properly first.

The door was pushed open, and Shen Manyun walked in with measured steps.

She was wearing that beige bodycon dress, the fabric tightly hugging her curves.

Because she had walked in somewhat hurriedly, the astonishing contours at her chest were still trembling slightly.

Shen Manyun immediately noticed Gu Yihan’s slightly disheveled pants and her flushed, pretty face.

"Captain... have I interrupted you?"

Shen Manyun adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses somewhat awkwardly, her gaze shifting away in embarrassment.

"It’s fine. Did you need something, Teacher Shen?"

Lin Ji leaned against the window, holding a half-smoked cigarette between his fingers.

His gaze swept over her long, slender legs.

Shen Manyun softly explained her reason for coming.

"There are only three rooms on the second floor, with good views and no noise."

"The three bedrooms on the first floor are right next to the Power Chamber, so you can still hear some noise from the Steam Core."

"Everyone wants to stay on the second floor now, but there aren’t enough spots. I didn’t feel comfortable making the decision myself."

As she spoke, Shen Manyun observed Lin Ji’s expression.

Matters of allocating spots like this were the easiest to offend people; mishandling it could create rifts in the newly stabilized team.

Lin Ji took a deep drag of his cigarette, the ember glowing briefly in the dim room.

Instead of immediately giving a list, he turned to look at Gu Yihan, who was adjusting her collar.

"Yihan, since you’re the Deputy Captain, you can decide on these trivial matters."

Lin Ji’s tone was casual, but his large hand pressed firmly against Gu Yihan’s rounded hip.

Feeling the astonishing elasticity transmitted through his palm, his gaze held a hint of encouragement as he looked at Gu Yihan.

Gu Yihan was momentarily stunned, then a surge of wild joy welled up in her heart.

She knew Lin Ji was publicly establishing her absolute authority as Deputy Captain in front of Shen Manyun.

"Alright, I’ll handle this."

Gu Yihan straightened her proud, upright chest, her gaze sharpening considerably.

She turned to Shen Manyun, her tone already carrying a hint of authority.

"Teacher Shen, come with me downstairs."

Gu Yihan smoothed out the slight wrinkles on her black shorts and strode out of the captain’s quarters.

As they descended the cold, iron staircase.

Gu Yihan proactively extended her fair hand, intimately linking arms with Shen Manyun’s warm one.

"Teacher Shen, you don’t need to worry."

Gu Yihan leaned close to Shen Manyun’s ear, lowering her voice.

"That room on the east side of the second floor with the best view—I’ll definitely save it for you."

Shen Manyun felt Gu Yihan’s friendly gesture, and the heart that had been hanging in her chest finally settled down.

After all, Gu Yihan came from a wealthy family, and her methods of winning people over were very skillful.

She understood clearly that Shen Manyun was the only Healer in the team, someone who could save her life at critical moments.

With the power to assign rooms in her hands, it was absolutely a sure win to prioritize binding this gentle teacher to her side.

A gentle smile appeared on Shen Manyun’s intellectual and pretty face, and her previously tense expression relaxed considerably.

"Thank you, Deputy Captain. I’ll be counting on your favor from now on."

The two quickly arrived on the spacious deck.

At this moment, Tang Ling, Su Qingyue, Bai Taotao, and Lin Yurou were all there.

Gu Yihan clapped her hands, the crisp sound echoing across the empty deck.

"Everyone, gather around."

The women immediately stopped what they were doing and gathered around.

Pairs of bright, beautiful eyes fixed on Gu Yihan, carrying a hint of tension and anticipation.

"Now, I will announce the room assignments."

Gu Yihan straightened her back, her capable and imposing presence as a young lady particularly striking under the lights.
