[R18] King's Domination
Chapter 49: They’ve Figured Out I Transmigrated
"I have spoken with Gilmore-sama about this, and we both believe that Robbie-sama has changed significantly since you woke up from your long sleep."
"I get told that by pretty much everyone I meet."
"Yes, I’m sure. So here’s what I think..."
"What do you think, Lily?"
"I believe that while Robbie-sama’s body is still that of a ten-year-old, the person inside is someone else. An adult."
"!!..."
She hit the nail on the head! She continued,
"Gilmore-sama also said he’s decided to think of it as Robbie-sama having been reborn. When speaking with you, there are times it feels like he’s talking to a man older than himself. He said if he closed his eyes while talking to you, that feeling becomes even stronger. I feel the same way."
"I-I see..."
"Yes, I really do. And I still think so even now, fufu! After all, the things you did to me that night were definitely not something a ten-year-old child would do... Using your mouth down there and moving your tongue around like that—who on earth taught you that!? I’ve never heard of anyone doing such a thing. It’s absolutely not something a man does to a woman! Even among nobles, or even commoners, no man would ever put his mouth on a woman’s private place like that! It’s completely unthinkable! And yet you did it to me without any hesitation, as if you genuinely enjoyed it. I’m sure you did the same thing to Countess Rosette as well, didn’t you? I can’t believe it! It’s impossible!
That’s why I think that while you were sleeping, God must have granted you knowledge from another world."
*So close! Or rather, she’s almost completely right?* Lily kept going.
"The idea that ’the person inside has changed’ is something that happens from time to time in this world. Someone suddenly starts talking about knowledge they’ve never learned before, begins making strange toys, or starts cooking unusual dishes."
*Wait, is she talking about...*
"You have a look on your face like something just clicked, fufu. Right now you don’t look like a child at all. You’re making a very adult, troubled expression."
*Eh?* I touched my face and tried to rub it around, but that probably wasn’t fooling anyone.
"What kind of toys are you talking about?"
I was curious, and also tried to subtly change the subject. Lily happily went along with it.
"Let’s see. Things like playing cards, Reversi, chess, and many others. There are also people who gather wild plants that were previously considered weeds and turn them into proper dishes."
"..."
I had no words. It seemed that the classic isekai strategy of reproducing modern games and products to make money had already been done by someone else. Come to think of it, there was pudding too. That must have been brought over by someone as well. Too bad. My dream of making a fortune easily and living a carefree life was apparently already taken.
When I thought about it, the fact that they use units like "feet" here already proved someone had brought knowledge from another world. It was only natural. Still, it was a little disappointing.
"People who come up with such ideas are often thought to have come from another world. Some of them openly say they came from another world, while others stay quiet, but the people around them suspect it anyway."
"I see..."
"That’s why, in your case Robbie-sama, even if you don’t say anything yourself, your actions naturally tell the story. At least Gilmore-sama and I think so. But honestly, I like the current Robbie-sama much better."
"I see..."
*Maybe I should stop talking about this topic too much.*
"I wonder what Mother thinks about this?"
Lily thought for a moment.
"Her Highness Doreen is that kind of person, so I don’t think she suspects anything strange. Since you’ve become such a wonderful boy, she probably believes you always had that potential hidden inside and it simply blossomed after coming here. I think she sees it as completely natural since you’re her own child."
*Mother, that’s way too optimistic... Though knowing her, that does sound exactly like something she’d think.*
"It is widely known that people sometimes come from other worlds. One method is summoning people from another world. The Marie Kingdom is a small country and lacks the talented individuals capable of performing such a summoning, so we don’t do it. However, I’ve heard that powerful countries with strong mages do perform summons. Separately from that, there are also cases where people occasionally come to this world by themselves for unknown reasons."
"Eh, really?"
I asked genuinely surprised. Of course I’d be shocked!
"Yes. We occasionally receive reports that such a person has been found."
"So they do exist..."
"Indeed. However, people who come from other worlds often cannot live very long."
"Eh!? Why!?"
I kept getting surprised. *Don’t people with cheat abilities usually conquer the world or at least become king?*
"I don’t know the exact reason, but it seems many of them cannot adapt to this world because it’s too different, and they end up breaking down mentally. Being thrown into a completely different world with no one to protect you, where none of your knowledge or common sense works... it seems most people lose the will to live. Even I would be completely stunned if I suddenly woke up in some remote village in an unknown country. For someone coming from an entirely different world, it must be far more overwhelming."
So basically, they couldn’t adapt. That made sense. In fact, being able to adapt was probably the rare exception. I was lucky that I woke up as a prince, even if it was in a small country. If I had been the son of a poor farmer in the countryside, I might have died. There’s no way I could have overpowered everyone with farming, hunting, or trading knowledge.
"By the way, what are those summoned people called for?"
I brought the conversation back.
"For war."
"War? Against who?"
*Don’t tell me it’s against the Demon King or something?*
"Neighboring countries. For example, when relations between the Mainz Kingdom to the west and the Hagen Empire to the north deteriorate to the point where war becomes inevitable, they summon people from other worlds. Those individuals usually possess special combat-related skills, making them valuable assets."
"Eh? But will the summoned people obediently fight as they’re told?"
"Whether they’re obedient or not, they don’t really have a choice, do they? They’re forcibly brought to a completely unknown world and given food, clothing, and shelter. In return, it’s natural for them to fight the enemy. If they’re told that they are on the side of justice and the enemy is evil, they’ll believe it and have no choice but to fight. Also, if they’re told they won’t be sent back to their original world unless they fight, they’ll become desperate."
That made sense. If everyone around them said the same thing, they’d have no choice but to believe it. And of course, there’s always the possibility of the classic twist where the Demon King was actually the good guy and the human king was the real villain.
"If they refuse to fight, the country has no reason to support them, so they’ll be thrown out. Then they have to survive alone. They haven’t been taught any way to make a living, so even if they’re given money, they’ll quickly run out. In the end, most of them either die or fall into ruin. It’s almost impossible to live properly."
I really was lucky to have woken up here, I thought from the bottom of my heart.
