Chapter 433: Fighting the Thin Man
The thin man waited for me with his sword lowered, at ease. I was running. Behind the thin man, the solidly built man was looking at me. He was also smiling.
When about 10 meters remained, I raised my running speed another level, extended the sword straight like the earlier enemy, and leaped into the thin man. One of the thin man’s eyebrows rose. That meant this thrust was something he had knowledge of and would not work.
The thin man’s sword rose and faced me. He would deflect the sword of me leaping in as I was and try to thrust at me. He was using the sword with that level of precision, meaning he had that confidence. In that case, I shifted the tip of my sword a little sideways. I aligned it with the tip of the thin man’s sword. There was no such thing as the tips of the swords meeting and stopping. Such a miracle would not happen. Therefore the tips shifted, and each sword would thrust toward the other. I intended to receive his sword tip with the guard of my sword. Then charge with my momentum and topple him! The thin man made a "tch" face and tilted the sword to try to sweep me. Matching the movement of that sword, I also tilted my sword and aligned the blades. The blades would chip, but it could not be helped.
Kin! The thin man’s sword and my sword met. With the momentum of my leap, the thin man was pushed. Then, the thin man released the sword. With excess momentum I passed behind the thin man. There the solidly built man, grinning, was swinging his sword down, trying to cut me down at the point where I was expected to leap in. Their coordination was outstanding! But I could not be killed like this. Yet I had no room to receive with the sword. I lightly kicked the ground and shifted the direction of my leap a little. The solidly built man’s sword passed beside my body. The wind pressure of the sword could be felt. I thought the solidly built man’s sword would strike the ground, but for some reason it approached me just above the ground, and when passing the man’s side I swept his stomach. A scraping sound came, the sound of the sword blade hitting metal. Damn it, was he wearing armor. It was dark and I could not see. I thought I could kill him....
The sword approached as if chasing my movement. Using the sword that was hitting the man’s stomach as a spring, I leaped back.
"Hoh, not bad."
The thin man said in a tone that seemed impressed, or rather pleased. Without waiting for him to say something, I leaped toward the solidly built man. The armor was probably only an abdominal wrap. If he was wearing more, his movements were too smooth. I would somehow cut somewhere other than the stomach. I ran while gradually raising speed in small steps: first step, second step, third step.
"Don’t let your guard down..."
The thin man shouted toward the solidly built man, but before it reached, I cut in. My movement must have been faster than what he had pictured in his head, and he hurriedly tried to swing the sword up. Because he was wearing armor on the stomach, he probably thought it was fine even if the stomach was opened, and thought there was room to swing up and bring down. I was fast, and the solidly built man panicked further, stopped the sword at a half-hearted height, and began to swing down. At a time like this, I thought simply backing off would be fine. While grateful to the solidly built man who did not do so, I thrust the sword aiming for the man’s side. A shallow wound was created, just enough for the sword tip to lightly touch. Even so, the tendon in the side should have been slightly damaged.
"Ugh!"
The man raised his voice. From the thin man it would be a blind spot and he probably could not see where it had been cut. I passed through the solidly built man’s side, turned, and looked at the man’s back. The man followed me with his eyes and twisted his body, but perhaps because the side had been cut, his body did not turn smoothly. I further flowed the sword along the man’s back as if attaching it and cut. A little below the neck, flowing the sword along the trapezius.
Beyond the solidly built man’s back, the thin man was waiting. Not the completely relaxed face from before, but with the corners of his eyes raised.
"Die!"
While shouting that, he swept the sword. Unable to fully dodge, then I kicked the ground, raised speed, and charged into the thin man as I was. Holding the sword sideways so it would not hit myself. I leaped in at full speed that I had not shown the men. With the full power of "Divine Legs."
Gon!! My head collided with the thin man’s face. Then with the momentum we fell together, and the thin man’s head hit the ground with a gon!! sound.
"Guh!!"
Whether to call it a voice or a scream, the thin man made a strange sound.
There was the sensation of the thin man’s nose bone being crushed! The man’s movements stopped. Concussion? In any case the movements stopped. When I raised my head and looked at the man’s face, he was bleeding from the nose and his eyes were rolled back. Fainted?
Occasionally, the thin man’s body twitched in spasms.
From behind,
"Gauwaaaa——!"
While making an incomprehensible sound, the solidly built man could be felt approaching. I rolled sideways and stood up. The solidly built man’s left hand was dangling loosely. Had it become unusable because I damaged the tendon earlier?
The solidly built man seemed unable to move quickly. When the man took one step forward, an arrow pierced the man’s knee! The man and I looked in the direction the arrow had come from, and Lily was holding a short bow. She was already nocking a second shot. She released!
Zut! It pierced the man’s waist. When I circled around to the side of the man’s dangling hand, the man twisted his body drawn by it. Then an arrow pierced the man’s back. The man’s movements stopped, and there the fourth and fifth arrows were hitting the man’s back. The man’s face distorted.
I pointed the sword forward and thrust aiming for the man’s heart. Before the man could swing the sword up and bring it down, I pulled the sword out. The man’s sword was swung down, his movement stopped for an instant, and the man looked at me. Both eyes looked dark and hollow. He must have thought he was about to be killed by me.
As the man expected, aiming for the man’s neck, I slid from the tip and thrust. An arrow was stuck in the man’s back. It was not deep, but it was enough to stop the man’s movements.
"Lord Robbie!"
At Lily’s voice,
"I’m fine. I wasn’t injured."
"Is that so, I’m relieved."
"Lily?"
"I’m fine. It’s just a scratch."
"Good."
"What should we do about that fallen man?"
Lily pointed at the thin man.
"It would be troublesome if we were interfered with later, so let’s kill him."
"Understood."
I placed the blade against the neck of the thin man who was still unconscious and pushed it in.
"The door is being knocked on."
At Lily’s words I noticed the ton ton sound of the door.
"Who is it? Konoka?"
"It might be, but just in case, if we open it and it’s different, it will become troublesome."
"Yeah. With us who are clearly different from the gatekeepers, and corpses rolling behind us, it would become a huge uproar."
"Yes."
"Let’s go over the wall as planned."
"Yes."
When I tried to jump up to cross the wall from the roof of the guard post, Lily could not jump and fell. Surprised, I went down, and when I looked at Lily she was holding her thigh.
"What happened?"
"When I fought the earlier man, I received a small wound. It’s a scratch."
"Let me see."
When Lily moved her hand aside, a cut of about 10 cm was visible. While casting "Healing,"
"You have to properly heal it or it won’t do."
"I am sorry."
"Even if you try to heal it yourself, the effect is weak so it can’t be helped. It would have been better if you said something properly."
This must have been quite painful, so even if she cast "Healing" herself, she probably could not concentrate and it did not fully heal. Even if she looks young on the outside, the inside is over 40, so she has to take care of her body. While saying that, the one who brought that 40-year-old woman to a place like this and worked her hard was me.
