[R18] King's Domination
Chapter 339: Agnes Is Proud! But…
The fallen wyvern had so many arrows stuck in it you could call them countless. And on my carriage three archers were standing. Why I knew they were archers is because they held bows. A short person, probably a woman, standing between two men. From behind you could hardly tell the bumps left and right. A sense of I did it overflowed from her back.
Around the dropped wyvern knights swarmed again and stabbed with spears, chiku chiku. Suddenly the one among the three archers who seemed a woman turned. Of course that was Agnes... Looking this way with a full proud smile. A white line at the side of her mouth. Is that a drool mark? Did she fight just after waking?
"Looord Maaarie! Did you seeee! I dropped a wyvern!"
Agnes shouted loud. The two guards on both sides smiled bitter. Agnes jumped down from the carriage roof and walked this way, stusta. Then she started walking this way, saw the wyvern I had dropped, and stopped. The glad face went stiff.
"What is this?"
At Agnes’s question Anouk, who had come down from inside the carriage, answered flat,
"Lord Marie dropped it."
Anouk, on the surface she is flat, but is a glad air not floating in her tone? She had been listening with a dislike-face while Agnes said this and that to me. Surely there is a serve-you-right feeling? Then Her Majesty said,
"Five wyverns attacked, and of those Lord Marie dropped four."
She said this calmly too. About that much is natural, yes? that kind of feeling. The knights and maids and attendants around were in a wasshoi-wasshoi festival state from dropping the wyverns, and only around Her Majesty’s carriage the air was cold. Her Majesty and Anouk’s intent to land one on the little girl who presses on me came through hard. Last, Lily who came down from the carriage closed it.
"Lady Eisleben is Lord Marie’s teacher, so she surely made a splendid showing?"
She said it in a voice so cold I thought the air would freeze. Am I the only one who sees three ice blades stuck in Agnes’s chest?
The driver said low,
"What is the matter?"
so I said,
"Stay quiet. You must not say extra things."
"Yes..."
Lily piled on further.
"My. Lady Eisleben dropped one wyvern? Amazing!"
She lifted her up, so the air froze still more. Agnes’s eyes grew wet and filled with tears in a blink. She bit her lip, and the clenched hands trembled...
Then Blueford and Dee, who read the air not at all, came.
"Lord Marie! You did it! Thank you! No, amazing! A miracle, not one dead from a wyvern attack! Oh, Lady Eisleben is here too? You cleared out the one at the rear, yes. Well done! Lord Marie taking four and Lady Eisleben taking one is truly something. We have a good souvenir talk to take back to the royal capital. My, amazing. I have to have the scribe record it properly. Busy! I look forward to reporting to His Majesty the King!"
Blueford spoke so glad that Her Majesty and the others loosened their faces. Good... Not reading the air is an important thing too...
Her Majesty asked,
"That is good. Is the one who was picked up by that wyvern all right?"
(Her Majesty saw that too.)
"We are treating him now. The horse has a broken leg, so pitiful, but we will have to kill it. Anyway now we are hugely glad we dropped the wyverns, when until a moment ago we thought there might be no life."
Dee answered packed with bounce. Good. He had a dark face the whole time, and I finally saw a smiling face.
Her Majesty looked at me.
"Lord Marie, you did well. I have nothing to give now, but I will pass this. Come down. Eisleben, come forward too."
she said. Agnes and I knelt before Her Majesty, and Her Majesty said,
"For this merit I will give this."
Anouk passed Her Majesty something like a gold coin on the end of a scrap of cloth, and Her Majesty passed that to me and Agnes.
"From here too, serve for the country, and for me."
Her Majesty’s words seemed to have a delicate meaning, but Agnes beside me trembled and held the medal up over her head. I thought it is something that moving, and copied. Purupuru.
"Raise your heads."
At Anouk’s words I raised my head, and before I knew it attendants had surrounded us.
"Amazing!"
"With work like that it is natural."
"This is play material!"
"Yes. We have to make it a play!"
"Oh. The whole kingdom has to know this!"
Wherever you go there is someone who says extra things.
The stir would not settle, and I in the center had started to get sick of it. When the surroundings get too high I become the type that cools somehow. Dee was there, so I asked,
"Dee, what do we do with those wyverns? Leave them? Or carry them? What do we do?"
You are the one in charge, so stay a little calm, I thought while asking. Then Dee started.
"Eh. Ah. Yes. What shall we do?"
He showed a lost face. And if we keep making noise in a place like this we will end up camping, will we not? Let us depart already, I wanted to say, but I endured. If I say too many extra things I feel I will be snapped at, then you do it.
"If we leave them here magical beasts will come to eat and travelers will be troubled, so we either bury them or butcher them and take the meat, but both look like they will take time. What should we do?"
Dee made a troubled face and looked around. He is searching for Blueford.
"Burning is easy and good, is it not?"
"That is such a waste!!"
If burying is hard and carrying is hard then burning is the only way. Luckily there is a lot of driftwood on the riverbed, so gather it and burn it quick, I thought and said, and I was opposed from all around.
Then what do we do? I thought, and Lily said,
"Could Lord Robbie’s mana bag not store them? You still have room, yes?"
From all around,
"Eeh!?"
they were hugely surprised. Her Majesty asked straight.
"Robbie, are you all right?"
Um. First name. You should be a little careful?
"One more might go in somehow."
At my reply no one reacted. They seemed too surprised for a voice to come. The one who broke the silence was Agnes.
"Even one wyvern is amazing..."
"Still goes in. A monster?"
"Where in that body does it go in?"
Various things were said, but the size of the body and the capacity of the mana bag are different, and I am a human for form.
"Then will you store the wyvern I dropped? I want to show it to the clan no matter what."
Rare for Agnes, she asked as if timid. I think Agnes and the two guards dropped it as three, but stating it as "the one I dropped" is something. The guards behind put their hands together and begged me to put it in. If they go that far, it cannot be helped.
