Quick Transmigration: Underdog Turns out to be Untouchable
Chapter 1781: Stylist 4
Chapter 1781: Chapter 1628: Stylist 4
As soon as she opened the door, she narrowly dodged a teacup flying towards her, followed by piercing screams from a woman and curses from a man.
Tao Shuangshuang clutched the instant noodles and eggs in her arms, sticking close to the door with lingering fear, watching the couple’s intense fight inside the room.
The girl involved was Shuangshuang’s co-tenant, and the girl’s opponent was her boyfriend, a rebellious man with a gaze that was never straightforward and full-back tattoos.
Tao Shuangshuang was already quite familiar with this scene because, during her one-month stay here, she had encountered this battle scene at least seven or eight times.
The girl’s name is Jiang Jiali, very pretty. Even though she lived in this shared apartment costing three hundred a month, she was actually a very capable girl.
Jiang Jiali was a saleswoman at a Jade store, with an exceptionally strong business capability, earning a basic salary and bonus commission totaling up to twenty thousand, or at least nearly ten thousand a month.
With such a high income, even in the pricey S City, she could afford a nicer apartment and live a slightly more luxurious lifestyle.
Even if she was thrifty, she could still live in a spacious and clean shared house, easily saving over a hundred thousand a year.
But in reality, Jiang Jiali was the second most miserable person after Tao Shuangshuang in the rental place, surviving on instant noodles, buns, pickled vegetables, and plain porridge, even reluctant to eat an egg.
The money Jiang Jiali saved through such hardship was all squandered by her boyfriend, who was like a leech, sucking the life out of Jiang Jiali.
Besides being financially dependent on Jiang Jiali, this man was also abusive, visiting and hitting her for no reason.
Even though Jiang Jiali resisted desperately every time, she was a woman with weaker strength, inevitably ending up bruised and battered by her boyfriend.
The roommates had advised Jiang Jiali to break up with her boyfriend, but unfortunately, Jiang Jiali always remained silent, leaving people helpless.
Tao Shuangshuang advised Jiang Jiali twice. She was capable and looked decent, so why support a leech, especially one that liked to hit her?
However, every time Jiali avoided the topic, Tao Shuangshuang stopped meddling; some people just refuse to stand up for themselves no matter how hard you try.
While the people inside fought fiercely, Tao Shuangshuang took the opportunity to sneak into her room, closed the door, touched her aching stomach from hunger, and prepared to cook some instant noodles.
In the cramped eight-to-nine-square-meter room, had it not been for Shuangshuang having few belongings, she’d have no space to live in.
The only electrical appliance in the room was a small induction cooker and a little frying pan, the bowls, and chopsticks were freebies from the supermarket.
Tao Shuangshuang poured the hot water from the thermos, turned on the induction cooker, and boiled the water as quickly as possible, cracked two eggs into it, then added the instant noodles. Since it was hot water, the noodles were soon ready.
As Shuangshuang was eating, the noise outside finally ceased, then a door slammed shut loudly, followed by the sound of Jiang Jiali crying.
Tao Shuangshuang lowered her eyes, focusing on her meal, as she was too occupied with her own troubles to save someone capable of independence but choosing to support a man dragging her down.
When Shuangshuang went out to wash dishes, another roommate, Sister He, returned. Sister He had her shoulder-length hair curled at the ends, and although she wore cheap clothes, she matched them elegantly.
When Sister He came back, Jiang Jiali was still crying, but she had moved from the living room to her room.
Sister He, carrying a bag of apples, walked into the kitchen to wash them and handed one to Tao Shuangshuang: “Here, Shuangshuang, have an apple.”
Tao Shuangshuang was a bit embarrassed and declined, “I won’t eat it, Sister He, you have it.”
Everyone here had a tough life, and the apples looked nice and must be expensive; Tao Shuangshuang felt bad accepting Sister He’s apple.
Sister He was very cheerful and enthusiastic. Seeing Shuangshuang decline, she insisted on giving the apple to Shuangshuang.
“I said eat it, no need to be polite with me. Do you think I care for an apple? You’re a young girl who can’t get proper nutrition eating only buns; an apple will give you some vitamins.”
Unable to refuse, Tao Shuangshuang accepted the apple from Sister He, as during the month they lived together, Sister He often gave her fruit.
Eating apples together, Sister He couldn’t help but glance at Jiang Jiali’s room and asked Tao Shuangshuang, “Did Xiao Jiang get beaten by her boyfriend again?”
Tao Shuangshuang silently nodded. Sister He slightly pursed her lips but said nothing. In fact, at first, Sister He felt sorry for Jiang Jiali, not only helping drive out the abusive boyfriend but also applying medicine to her and advising her to break up because a man who hit women was not worth keeping.
But Jiang Jiali was hopeless, no matter how patiently Sister He advised her, Jiali’s boyfriend only had to cry and apologize on his knees, and she would forgive him.
Over time, Sister He stopped getting involved; previously, whenever Jiali cried after being hit, Sister He would comfort her. Now, she only listened silently without doing anything.
After eating the apple, Sister He said to Tao Shuangshuang, “Shuangshuang, a friend introduced me to a job at the newly opened animated theme event in the amusement park, handing out balloons in a mascot suit.
This job, although a bit tough now, as wearing the mascot suit is very hot, will pay two thousand for seven days. I think that’s a good price; would you like to join me?”
Sister He knew Shuangshuang needed money, so she saved a spot for her. Appreciative, Tao Shuangshuang immediately thanked her, “Thank you, Sister He, I’ll go!”
She had no idea where her next client would come from, so she wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to earn money. Two thousand for seven days was indeed a decent amount, nearly three hundred a day.
Accompanied by Jiang Jiali’s faint sobbing, Tao Shuangshuang had a good night’s sleep, and early the next morning, she followed Sister He to the job she mentioned.
The mascot job was much more tiring than shopping assistance; the weather had just entered summer, not yet at its hottest, but after a day in the mascot suit, she was drenched as if washed with water.
Let alone having to stand and walk continuously all day; without a change into a comfortable pair of shoes, Shuangshuang would not last the seven days.
After seven days, Tao Shuangshuang finally received her pay. The boss, quite pleased with both Shuangshuang and Sister He, gave each an extra two hundred after paying them.
After receiving her wages, Tao Shuangshuang first bought lots of fruit for Sister He to thank her for the job, as well as a pound of meat, intending to enjoy a hearty meal.
