Chapter 1426: Chapter 427: Celestial Sect
Chapter Four Hundred and Twenty-Seven [Celestial Sect]
Zhan Li prostrated on the ground, kowtowing repeatedly. After a moment, her forehead was already flushed. Only then did the Saint nod slowly and say, "Enough, that’s enough."
Waves of emotion surged in Zhan Li’s heart as she slowly rose to her feet and said, "Thank you, Saint, for bestowing this opportunity upon me. Whatever the Saint commands, Zhan Li will not hesitate to die a thousand times to fulfill it!"
The Saint fixed his gaze on Zhan Li for a moment, then smiled gently, "I hope you remember what you said today."
Then, the Saint raised his hand and gently waved his sleeve, causing Zhan Li to feel as if the world was spinning. Her vision went dark, and she lost consciousness.
Unaware of how much time had passed, Zhan Li slowly awoke to the sound of the Saint’s voice beside her ears.
"Rise."
After a moment of disorientation, Zhan Li came to her senses. After crawling up from the ground, she felt the surroundings to be vast and empty. For a moment, she wasn’t sure where she was.
Looking around, everything was gray and misty. It wasn’t fog, yet her vision seemed obstructed by some force, only allowing her to see a distance of a dozen or so paces.
Amidst this haze, the light wasn’t dim.
Zhan Li paused for a moment, and before she could speak, the Saint calmly said, "From now on, remember everything you see firmly in your heart."
Zhan Li’s heart tightened, and she decisively closed her mouth, not daring to make another sound.
The Saint’s figure walked in front of Zhan Li. She looked at this saint’s back shadow, yet her vision was still obstructed, only able to vaguely discern a humanoid outline, unclear of the shape or appearance. From the voice and figure, she could faintly recognize this saint’s avatar likely was that of a young woman.
But this didn’t matter, the Saint was connected to the Heavenly Dao, and physical form could change endlessly, incarnating in thousands of ways. The Saint could be whatever he wanted to be.
Appearance and form were merely at the whim of the other party.
Yet, after walking a few steps, a thought suddenly stirred in Zhan Li’s mind—the Saint walking ahead of her seemed to be slightly faltering.
Was it difficult for her?
Just as this thought formed in Zhan Li’s mind, she heard the Saint’s voice in her ears: "Walk carefully beside me, do not deviate from the path."
As the words fell, the Saint slowly raised his hand and pointed ahead!
Suddenly, a white light shot forward, and the gray area in front was swept through by the white light, and suddenly the view became clear!
This white light, though only reached a hundred steps or so, was exhausted, but it "cleansed" a range of a hundred steps with clear visibility.
The Saint exhaled and continued forward at a slow pace. Zhan Li dared not speak, remembering the Saint’s exhortations, followed carefully behind.
After they walked a hundred steps, the area cleared by the white light was finished.
The Saint raised his hand again, and another white light shot forth, clearing another gray area.
Several times repeated, the Saint used the white light to open the way, taking Zhan Li deeper into the gray area. After emitting over a hundred white lights, Zhan Li vaguely sensed that the Saint’s steps seemed to have slowed somewhat.
Despite her careful following, they had trekked so far, Zhan Li, originally weak and frail, suddenly staggered, and her body tilted sideways.
With that tilt, she stumbled out from the Saint’s shadow!
Instantly, Zhan Li felt an icy chill envelop her whole body, a potent pressure pressing from all directions!
The force seemed to come from every direction, like a mountain, almost crushing her flesh into pulp!
In that moment, Zhan Li felt her breath catch, eyes wide, unable to emit a single word from her throat. In that instant, the sensation of a mountain weighing down upon her, nearly fracturing her bones, made Zhan Li feel as if she would be shattered to pieces in the next moment!
Fortunately, as darkness enveloped her vision, the Saint in front snorted softly, turned sideways, and with a backhand grabbed Zhan Li’s sleeve, pulling her back into his shadow.
Then the Saint waved his robe, and Zhan Li immediately felt her body lighten, the immense pressure from all sides instantly vanishing.
The Saint sneered, "Told you to follow closely behind me, you little Ghost Race girl, weak as you are, can’t even walk steadily?"
Zhan Li, trembling with fear, was about to open her mouth in apology, but the Saint waved a hand: "Do not speak."
After a pause, she took a deep breath: "In this place, even speaking will bring death, and I cannot save you! Remember!"
Frightened, Zhan Li quickly covered her mouth with both hands.
The Saint sighed before turning to continue walking forward.
After walking about three to five thousand steps more, Zhan Li noticed that the white light the Saint emitted was clearly losing strength, seeming to weaken.
Previously, a white light could clear a gray area of about a hundred steps, but towards the end, at most, it could clear only seventy or eighty steps.
Even more worrying to Zhan Li was that when she looked back at the path they came, the areas initially cleared by the white light appeared to be slowly being engulfed by surrounding gray mist once more.
The cleared areas were being reclaimed!
At this moment, Zhan Li had perhaps a hundred questions, a thousand uncertainties in her heart, but this Saint forbade her from speaking and had issued such stern warnings that she could only keep her questions suppressed, not daring to voice them.
