Project Zero: Milking Women Refuels Me.
Chapter 3|The Motel
Chapter 3: Chapter 3|The Motel
They both walked east through the rain.
The street was quiet but not empty, and the few people they passed at this hour did what people do when they see something they can’t immediately categorize. Slowed their stride just enough to stare.
A man in a soaked lab coat and a woman on slides in a facility uniform walking through the rain at 3am with the focused energy of people who had somewhere to be. One man outside a 24-hour laundromat watched them pass with his cigarette halfway to his mouth and didn’t finish the journey. A couple sharing an umbrella outside a closed convenience store turned to watch them go, and Damian caught the tail end of their whispered exchange without trying —something about cosplay, something about kinks, a laugh that followed them half a block before the rain swallowed it.
The motel was exactly what it needed to be. Four walls, a lock that worked, carpet that had given up having a color, a bed that had hosted a thousand stories and wasn’t interested in judging one more.
Sable had handled the check-in. She’d walked to the front desk alone while Damian waited in the shadow of the parking lot with his back to the camera above the entrance, and whatever she’d said to the man behind the glass had taken less than two minutes. Cash from the emergency fund she kept folded in her badge holder. He’d noticed it in the loading bay, tucked behind her Level Three clearance card like she’d always planned for a night that required it. No names given. No questions asked. The kind of transaction that motel at this price point had been built around.
She’d come back with a key card and said nothing about it, and he’d said nothing about it, and they’d gone upstairs.
Damian checked the room twice before he was satisfied. Bathroom window, fire exit at the end of the corridor, sightlines from the single window to the parking lot below. Clean enough.
Sable set her tablet and badge on the small table by the window and turned to face him with her hands loose at her sides, and the quiet between them was the specific quiet of two people who have already agreed on something and are simply arriving at it.
"You don’t have to manage this like a procedure,’ he said.
"I’m not,’ she said. "I’m just not someone who fills silence with noise.’ She reached up and unpinned her hair, letting it fall, and some of the facility severity went with it. She looked younger without the severity. Tired in a human way rather than a professional one. "How do you want to do this?’
"Sit on the bed,’ he said. "This works better without distance.’
She sat. He pulled the chair from the table and positioned it in front of her, close, and she watched him with calm dark eyes while he reached forward and began working the buttons of her uniform top. Methodical, unhurried, not making it something it wasn’t.
She reached behind herself without being asked and unclasped her bra, pulling it free through her sleeve in the practiced way women do, and set it on the bed beside her. Her big breasts resurfaced, full and heavy beneath the soft light, changing the feel of the room instantly. The air seemed quieter after that. More honest.
He leaned forward.
The first draw was slow. Deliberate, his mouth finding the right pressure, her breath catching once above him in a sound she didn’t try to suppress or amplify, just let happen. The milk came warm and immediate and the effect on his Flux was something no file had ever accurately described. Not a gradual fill. A flooding. Like a door opening in a dark room and light coming through all at once.
Her hand came to rest on the back of his head. Not directing, just present. He felt her breathing change, steady itself, find a new rhythm.
He stayed until the system told him what he needed to know.
[Flux: 79%]
Ding!
[Milk Memory: Activated. A-grade passive bonus applied. Duration: 24 hours.]
Ding!
[New Skill Acquired: Lactation Induction]
[Active. Flux cost: 8%. Forces milk production in target regardless of pregnancy status. Duration scales with Flux invested.]
He sat back. She exhaled slowly and reached for her uniform top without rushing and began refastening it with the same quiet efficiency she brought to everything else.
"Seventy-nine," he said.
She nodded. "And the Milk Memory passive activated. I could tell from the timing." She picked up her tablet. "The bonus will hold for twenty-four hours. After that you’ll need another cycle or your floor drops faster than your baseline."
He looked at her. "You’re analyzing it.’
"It’s what I do,’ she said simply, without apology. She pulled up something on her screen. "I spent fourteen months studying every Subject type that passed through that facility. Pyros, Glacis, Aquis. I documented their refuel cycles, their skill acquisition patterns, their Flux ceilings. Yours was the most complex file I ever worked on." She glanced at him briefly. "I know what Milk Memory is. I know what Lactation Induction does. I know what skills your class unlocks and roughly when." She looked back at her screen. So when I say I’m analyzing it. I’m not guessing. I’m confirming what the data already predicted." A pause. "What’s the plan?’
"Distance first,’ he said. "Then a base they can’t predict. Then I want to know everything on that tablet." He leaned back in the chair. "Starting with whatever was worth your career."
She turned the screen toward him.
"Fourteen months of internal Nexarion communications," she said. "Signed ethics violations. Illegal Subject acquisition records going back nine years. Termination orders with Directorate signatures." She let him read the top layer of it, then pulled the tablet back. "And the complete list of every active facility currently operating in this country."
The rain tapped at the window above the parking lot.
"How many,’ he said.
"Eleven,’ she said. "Not counting the one we just left.’
