"But you, Ge Puzi... I really can’t figure you out. You said you saw a Martial King from my Nine Yang Sect at the Array Base. I’m very curious. If you really knew about our plan, why didn’t you destroy the Array Base? Why walk willingly into our trap instead?"

Ge Puzi scoffed, "And what makes you so sure we didn’t destroy the Array Base?"

Yan Song’s expression faltered, and he looked toward Tang Zhao.

"Brother Yan, don’t listen to his nonsense. The Seven Star Earth Element Array is fully formed. It has no weaknesses."

Tang Zhao said coldly, narrowing his eyes at Ge Puzi.

He refused to believe that Ge Puzi knew about their plot beforehand, but Ge Puzi’s earlier actions didn’t seem like an act. This filled his heart with doubt.

Yan Song, who was standing nearby, felt a wave of relief. Teaming up with the Profound Mystery Sect to ambush Gale Light Academy and the other major powers was a huge risk. They absolutely could not allow anyone from these powers to escape. Otherwise, if word got back, the outcome of a full-on war would be uncertain, even with the Nine Yang Sect and Profound Mystery Sect fully allied.

As long as they killed or subdued everyone present, they would have plenty of time to deal with the other powers one by one.

Just then, Ye Xuan, who had been standing to the side, suddenly sneered. "Vice Sect Master Yan, I must say, I admire your courage for allying with the Profound Mystery Sect. But don’t blame me for not warning you—be careful you’re not asking a tiger for its own hide."

Yan Song scoffed and glanced at Ye Xuan. "You brat," he said coldly. "This is no place for you to speak. If you’re trying to sow discord, you’re still far too inexperienced."

Ye Xuan smiled coldly. "I’ll just ask you one question. Do you know why the Profound Mystery Sect attacked my Gale Light Academy?"

Tang Zhao’s brow furrowed slightly, almost imperceptibly.

"Purpose?" Yan Song laughed heartily and sneered. "Isn’t it obvious? To deliberately provoke a war, lure you all here, and then wipe you out in one fell swoop."

"Is that so?" A cold smile touched Ye Xuan’s lips. "You don’t even know the Profound Mystery Sect’s true objective, yet you think you have the situation under control. Hmph. How utterly foolish."

Yan Song frowned and instinctively glanced at Tang Zhao. "Then why don’t you tell us," he said coldly, "what is the Profound Mystery Sect’s real objective?"

Tang Zhao suddenly cut in, "Brother Yan, don’t listen to his provocations. The man has a silver tongue. Isn’t it obvious he’s just saying whatever he can to save his own life..."

As he spoke, a cold glint flashed in Tang Zhao’s eyes. He raised a hand, and with a low hum, streaks of rainbow-hued light suddenly materialized throughout the Seven Star Earth Element Array. The light was dazzling and beautiful, but to everyone watching, it radiated an aura of immense danger.

A terrifying pressure swept down, and its fearsome aura caused everyone’s faces to drain of color in horror.

Master Xuanmiao of the Profound Sound Valley suddenly cried out in terror, "A killing array! It’s the killing array within the Seven Star Earth Element Array! It contains the might of a Martial King, and it’s relentless! Any Martial Artist below Tier Seven will be instantly annihilated if touched by this rainbow light, and it’s incredibly destructive even to Tier Seven Martial Kings!"

At Master Xuanmiao’s terrified cry, everyone’s expression changed drastically. They stared with grim vigilance at the rainbow light that swirled like clouds in the sky, their gazes dark and heavy.

"Brother Tang, hold on. Let’s hear what this brat has to say. It won’t be too late to act after he’s finished," Yan Song suddenly said. Seeing the array activate, a hint of vigilance flashed in his eyes.

Tang Zhao’s gaze was frigid, his tone resolute. "Brother Yan, it’s better not to listen. This boy’s words are honey, but his heart is a sword; he’s full of tricks. Don’t be deceived by him. I urge you, Brother Yan, to join us and exterminate these people."

Before Yan Song could even respond, Tang Zhao formed a Hand Skill with his fingers and pointed toward the rainbow light in the sky.

Vast streams of rainbow light began to flow, surging like an ocean toward Ye Xuan and the others.

"Now, despair," Tang Zhao snarled, his face twisted into a savage expression as he thrust his finger downward.

The rainbow-hued light cascaded down toward the city like a waterfall.

The members of the major powers roared in fury, their faces set with grim determination.

But what happened next left them all stunned. Just as the rainbow light was about to strike them, it suddenly froze in place, twisting and distorting but refusing to descend.

"What?" Everyone froze, looking toward Tang Zhao, assuming he had stopped the attack.

But Tang Zhao on the other side looked equally stunned. His brow was furrowed in concentration, and his fingers moved continuously, forming one Array Skill after another. But no matter how he tried to command it, the rainbow light refused to obey.

"Haha, as I said before, who told you we didn’t damage the Array Base?"

A faintly mocking voice drifted over. It was Ge Puzi, a leisurely smile on his face.

"What?" The faces of Tang Zhao and his allies changed drastically. They whipped their heads around to see Ye Xuan from Gale Light Academy, a faint smile on his lips as his hands formed a series of Array Skills. As his fingers moved, the rainbow light above surged beautifully, while Tang Zhao himself found he had lost all control over it.

"Impossible!" Tang Zhao roared. Using the Array Control Heart Method, he pointed at Ye Xuan and shouted, "Go!"

The rainbow light remained motionless, continuing to swirl in place.

A mocking smile appeared on Ye Xuan’s lips. "Sect Master Tang, one must learn to face reality. Watch me. Go."

As his voice fell, Ye Xuan flicked his finger. SWISH! A streak of rainbow light shot toward Tang Zhao like a meteor, its speed breathtakingly fast.

Tang Zhao’s expression changed, and he violently slapped out a palm.

The two forces collided, kicking up a fierce whirlwind that radiated in all directions.

"This..." Tang Zhao’s face was a mask of utter disbelief.

The Tianyi Ease Ancestor himself had laid this Seven Star Earth Element Array, and the Ancestor had personally taught him how to operate its killing array. In his mind, Ye Xuan and the others should have been lambs to the slaughter, completely at his mercy. But the scene unfolding before him completely shattered his understanding of the situation.

"Damn it. I thought you had taken control of the entire Array, but it turns out you only have control over the killing array."

Tang Zhao snorted coldly, his composure completely returning. He had just tested the Array and found that all of its other functions were still under his command; only the killing array was beyond his control. With this realization, his heart was immediately put at ease.

The Seven Star Earth Element Array was, first and foremost, an extremely powerful Trapping Array. The killing array was merely an auxiliary function. As long as he controlled the other Array Bases, losing control of a simple killing array was no great loss.
