Chapter 965: Unfortunate Incident
Chapter 965: Unfortunate Incident
“Good Harvest”
Kent vanished from 40,000 kilometres away and appeared beside the glowing flame core. He waved his hand, and it vanished into his space ring.
He vanished and appeared beside the second flame core, which was 2 km away from where the first core was.
⟪You have formed your 1003 Flame Vein⟫
Another message appeared, but Kent didn’t mind and immediately used the Teleport ability of the soul map, which took him 80,000 km deep into the outer region of the Serpent’s Coil Valley.
⟪You have formed your 1004 Flame Vein⟫
The moment he arrived, Kent felt the heat in his surroundings touch his skin, telling him that even with Super Flame resistance, he was reaching his limit.
However, he didn’t panic; instead, he spotted a cave nearby. He quickly moved inside.
“Damn, the heat here is much stronger than I expected.” Kent felt his body sweating instantly. However, he didn’t give in by retreating. Instead, he sat down and closed his eyes.
In that instant, aside from three more messages announcing he had formed flame veins, he also received one telling him that his flame resistance had improved greatly, and his comprehension also improved considerably.
But that wasn’t all, his Soul Flame was also improving slightly.
This shows that although he is currently in a region filled with so much flame essence that even a Super Flame resistance couldn’t necessarily block, his Tier 12 soul flame is no weak flame, so the flame essence was only improving it slightly.
Kent closed his eyes and decided to let his body do its thing. His focus now was on checking to see how forming flame veins would improve his flame resistance.
Five minutes later, 100 flame veins formed, making it 1100 out of 20,000 he needed to form before he could attempt to form his first flame core.
“I might as well use this chance to train my mind by checking through Chaos’s memories,” Kent sighed and then dove back into his memories. Since he doesn’t require active cultivation, his body was doing all the work.
—
[Meanwhile, back at the explosion site]
The soul explosion was more devastating than Kent expected. He knew Tier 14 was no simple soul spirit, but compared to Tier 18, he expected Tier 14 to be less devastating.
However, he was wrong.
The explosion caught the attention of many people, prompting various groups, lone wanderers and beasts to move toward the site of the explosion.
Of course, the people who got there first saw nothing but bits and pieces of beast bodies. However, as they continued to look around, they sensed that the explosion was the result of a powerful soul attack.
This got them wondering just who had this much soul power to unleash such an attack.
Of course, the sensible ones started to wonder just what kind of soul attack could deal physical damage.
Then, after some managed to narrow it down to soul spirits, the next question was who would be rich enough to explode a soul spirit.
Perhaps this realisation was what made them all want to find this person and, if possible, steal a few soul spirits from him.
However, Karma has a way of striking when you least expect it.
Since the explosion drew Humans, it wasn’t too hard to know it would draw the attention of the beasts, too. Some managed to run, but a few were caught in the fierce charge of dozens of Tier 18 beasts.
BOOM
An arrow exploded in the face of a 300-meter snake whose entire body was covered in flames. The explosion was powerful, but it did little to nothing to push back the snake.
The person who fired shot clicked her tongue and retreated, looking sideways to see if her team was faring any better.
However, she saw one of them get thrown away by a Bull and another impaled in the hand by a bone-mouth scorpion.
“We shouldn’t have come here,” she said, regretting the decision made by her team to come to the site of the explosion.
In her team, there are 3 Spirit Lords, including herself and 5 Spirit Sovereigns. If this were an ordinary place, their team would have been considered a powerful group.
However, three of the Spirit Sovereigns had died, and the other two were barely hanging on. Even the Spirit Lords, including herself, were struggling.
“I need to buy them a minute so they can escape using the Return Talisman,” she muttered, but looking at three powerful beasts surrounding her team and the unkillable snake she was facing, she didn’t know if that could even be possible.
She looked toward one of her team members, who was locked in fierce combat with a Bull. “Even if I can’t save all of them, I must ensure Lowell makes it. I can’t die knowing he wouldn’t be meeting his daughter.”
She charged forward, taking out a sword from her space ring. When she was nearing the snake, she waved her hand, and a net appeared, catching the snake off guard.
The net caught it, but she didn’t wait to land a killing blow. She knew that if she stayed to try to kill the snake, she might just end up missing the chance to free Lowell.
So she charged directly at the Bull, and when she was close, she unleashed a sword strike, sending a blinding light at the Bull.
“Lowell, move back and escape. You have a minute.” She landed on the ground, sending spikes shooting from the ground. This spike further pushed the Bull back while the snake was still struggling to free itself from the Enchanted net.
“Commander, you—”
“Run, Lowell, you have a daughter on the way. Be there for her… please,” she commanded, and Lowell, who hesitated for a moment, saw the concerned look on her face, causing him to bite his lips and retrieve an item from his space ring.
He activated it and, like the wind, he was gone.
However, the lady knew what had happened, so she made sure her battle with the Bull didn’t move to where Lowell stood.
The item he used was a one-time life-saving treasure that made one invisible for a minute. Within that one minute, they could not move or breathe.
Lowell needed a minute to escape safely, so he stood in one place, observing his commander, who had led them through the thick and thin, battling it out with the Bull while the snake slowly burned through the net trapping it.
Thirty seconds passed, and the snake was still struggling to burn through the net. However, the lady was bleeding all over as the Bull continued to do a number on her.
She was a long-range fighter, a skilled archer with a peculiar affinity for the Earth element, thanks to her lineage as an Earth Human.
However, to protect her comrade, she had to switch to close combat, which at the moment had proven to be a bad move.
Thankfully, her resolve was rather strong, so until she saw that light vanish, she would never give in.
ROAR!
Just when the clock hit 55 seconds, the snake broke free and charged directly at Lowell, who was invisible, yet he knew the snake was coming for him.
“NO,” the lady shouted; however, the distance between them was too wide to do anything. She could only watch as the snake charged, and when it was close, it unleashed a powerful flame beam.
However, just when the beam was 2 meters from Lowell, one of her teammates burned his core to erect a powerful barrier around him.
BOOM
A loud explosion occurred, and the shockwave sent everyone flying. However, before she could pass out, she saw a golden light shoot toward the sky and vanish into the clouds.
With a smile on her face, she passed out, unsure where her body would land.
