Chapter 633: Chapter 631: Wrecking Crew, Wreck, Wreck, Wreck
The Undercity, home to the Shadowmist Clan, was lively late into the night. It wasn’t until just before dawn that the clan chief, Pip, appeared on the suspended drawbridge.
"Clansmen, quiet down."
"I have an announcement to make tonight."
As soon as it spoke, the area fell silent. Countless wintergourds immediately turned to look at it.
Their gazes were intense, burning with curiosity about what their clan chief had to say. Some couldn’t wait and began to ask.
"Clan Chief, what is it?"
"Hurry and tell us! We can’t wait!"
"Yes, what is it, Clan Chief?"
Pip raised its hand, signaling for its clansmen to be quiet. Their "fingers" were actually two-pronged claws, but they served as hands nonetheless.
Pip then spoke. "Everyone, listen to me. Here’s the situation. Our master is about to leave the Cunmere Realm to live in another world. He may never return."
The moment Pip finished speaking, the wintergourds present were stunned. They looked at one another, and once the news sank in, they wilted like salted cabbage, all their energy draining away.
Tears streamed down the faces of the older wintergourds as they hugged one another. The others grew anxious, huddling together and chattering all at once.
"How can this be?"
"Our master is leaving? And he’s never coming back?"
"Did we do something wrong? Did we make Master unhappy?"
"Master... Master doesn’t want us anymore."
Hearing this, one wintergourd spoke up. "What are you all guessing for! Our master is so good to us, how could he abandon us? Master is so powerful; of course he wouldn’t stay in the Cunmere Realm forever. He must be off to conquer other worlds!"
The wintergourds quickly managed to talk themselves out of their despair.
"Yes, that must be it."
"It’s all right. We can wait for Master to return. We’ll stand guard here. As long as he comes back, we’ll always be here."
"It’s just... we’ll miss Master so much."
"I just wonder how long it will be until we see Master again."
Decades, or maybe centuries. They didn’t know if they, as wintergourds, could even live that long. At that thought, the entire Shadowmist Clan was once again plunged into the sorrow of their impending separation.
Pip fell silent.
’I haven’t even finished speaking, and my clansmen are already lost in sorrow.’
"Let me finish."
As soon as Pip spoke, countless eyes fell upon it. "Go on, Clan Chief. We can take it."
"Yes, how long will Master be gone? Decades or centuries?"
Pip quickly waved its hands.
"Stop, stop... Hold on... What are you all imagining? You haven’t heard me out."
The elders spoke up.
"Go on."
"Yes, Clan Chief, please hurry and tell us."
Pip’s gaze swept over its clansmen. "The master is indeed leaving for another world, but he said he wants to take us all with him—a full clan migration. The only question is, are you willing to go?"
As it spoke, Pip raised its hand. "Let me make one thing clear: as for me, your chief, I am definitely going with the Master."
The moment Pip finished speaking, the crowd was silent for a split second before erupting into thunderous cheers.
"The whole clan is migrating? Is this for real?"
Pip nodded slightly.
"Yes, it’s true. The master’s kindness to us is as boundless as the mountains. Even though he’s leaving, he never once thought of abandoning us. A master this good is impossible to find, even if you searched with a lantern in broad daylight."
Indeed. Where else could one find such a master?
The Shadowmist Clan now numbered in the tens of thousands. The master was leaving the Cunmere Realm for another world, yet he still wanted to bring them all along—the old, the weak, the sick, and the disabled, a clan with no combat strength whatsoever. The resources and Cultivation required for such a feat would be astronomical. Anyone else would have long since abandoned them to their fate.
The mere thought of it moved the wintergourds to tears.
They raised their hands to wipe away their tears.
"The master is so good to us."
Once they had confirmation, the wintergourds of the Shadowmist Clan began to jump for joy.
"We’re willing! We’re willing!"
"We’re willing, Clan Chief!"
"Of course we are! We are the master’s wintergourds in life and we will be the master’s wintergourds in death. We will follow the master forever!"
"That’s right! As long as the master doesn’t see us as a burden, we’re willing to follow him forever. We’ll grow Spiritual Medicine for him for the rest of our lives!"
"Yes, the master’s Alchemy consumes a lot of Spiritual Medicine. We’ll grow more from now on."
"A clan-wide migration is a huge event! Clan Chief, when do we leave? Should we start packing now? I have to bring my hoes from home; we’ll need them for farming later."
"Yes, let’s go pack right now!"
"And another thing... Clan Chief, what about the Spirit Fruits and Spiritual Medicines in the Ethoria? We have to dig them all up and take them with us. We can’t let anyone else have them for cheap!"
"Dig them up! We’ll definitely dig them up! We’ll start tomorrow!"
These wintergourds were decisive and single-minded.
Once the clan-wide migration was proposed, they didn’t hesitate for a second.
Even knowing the future was uncertain and that leaving the homeland they had known for so long to start anew would be difficult, they didn’t care. As long as they were with their master, they would go anywhere and were not afraid of hardship. They could build a new home together with their clan. As long as everyone was together, they feared nothing.
Aaron Sinclair, who had been sitting and watching this whole time, nodded slightly. He stood up and faced the wintergourds.
He raised a hand, and the wintergourds instantly fell silent, turning their attention to him.
Aaron Sinclair spoke. "Since all you wintergourds are willing to come with me, then it’s settled. Prepare for a full clan relocation. Also, take a look around and see what you need to bring. Pack everything up to take with you. We won’t be coming back, after all. You can dismantle and take anything of value from this Undercity."
"As for the Ethoria you’ve cultivated, and the Spirit Fruits and Spiritual Medicines growing within them, you can scoop them all up, spirit soil and all."
As he spoke, Aaron Sinclair opened his palm, revealing several Space Storage Rings. With a light wave of his hand, the storage rings flew into the hands of the wintergourds.
"These are Space Storage Rings. They’re large enough to hold everything. Take them and start packing."
As he finished speaking, countless wintergourds erupted in cheers.
"Yes, Master!"
"Long live the Master!"
"Thank you, Master! Long live the Master!"
Aaron Sinclair nodded slightly.
"Mm, that is all for tonight."
"Yes..."
...
The wintergourds of the Shadowmist Clan were remarkably efficient. For the next two days, they worked without a moment’s rest.
The wintergourds divided the labor and cooperated. One group was responsible for going to the outside world to dig up Spiritual Medicine and spirit fruit trees that had been growing for a very long time. Another group took inventory of the Shadowmist Clan’s accumulated wealth and packed it away. Still others sorted all the Spiritual Medicine from their storehouses into the storage rings.
