Chapter 629 - 627: Pip, Prepare for the Clan’s Migration
Chapter 629: Chapter 627: Pip, Prepare for the Clan’s Migration
Pip clutched the box, tears streaming down his face.
"Master, thank you."
"Hold on..." Aaron Sinclair waved his hand dismissively, then said, "Pip, stop wasting time. Hurry up and absorb and refine the Spiritual Marrow. You can still be saved, but if you wait any longer, this wintergourd will have gone cold."
Hearing this, Pip nodded quickly.
"Okay, I’ll do as you say, Master."
"Master, I’ll go absorb and refine the Spiritual Marrow right now. We can catch up later." Pip’s body truly couldn’t hold on any longer. He felt he might die on the spot if he spoke for much longer.
Aaron Sinclair waved his hand.
"Go on, then."
"Yes." Pip hummed in agreement. His gaze swept over his clan members as he spoke. "You must all take good care of our Master. Do not be disrespectful in any way."
As Pip finished speaking, his clan members nodded repeatedly. "Don’t worry, Clan Leader. We will take good care of the Master."
After instructing his clan, Pip bowed to Aaron Sinclair once more. "Master, I’m going to absorb the Spiritual Marrow now." As he spoke, he clutched the box and transformed into a cloud of black mist, instantly sinking into the ground and vanishing.
After their clan leader left, the wintergourds at the front approached. The one in the lead, a wintergourd elder, spoke up. "Master, please come with us to The Undercity. You must be tired from your journey. First, come and soak in the hot springs. It’s been a long time since you’ve returned, and The Undercity is much livelier now."
Aaron Sinclair nodded slightly and said softly, "Alright, let’s go have a look."
There were several entrances to The Undercity in this area. The wintergourds of The Shadowmist Clan could go straight through them, or they could transform into black mist and sink directly into the ground. But now that he was here, they would naturally use a proper entrance.
The entrances to The Undercity here were protected by an Array, making them normally invisible from the outside.
Aaron Sinclair walked toward the nearest entrance and, with a wave of his hand, dispelled the concealing Array. A round stone gate appeared at the mouth of the passage below.
Just then, the stone gate slowly slid to one side.
"Let’s go in." With that, Aaron Sinclair stepped inside. Seeing him enter, the wintergourds followed close behind.
Of course, only a small group accompanied Aaron Sinclair, such as the elder and a few others. The rest of the wintergourds simply transformed into black mist and sank into the ground.
After passing through the stone gate, Aaron Sinclair was momentarily stunned by the sight within the passage. The ground at the entrance was paved with smooth pebbles, and the walls were embedded with illuminating Crystal Stones.
He glanced around before walking a little further. Then he saw it: a spiraling track that led continuously downward. Right in front of him sat several uniquely designed Leaf Ships, complete with seats. A single glance was enough to feel the overwhelming artistic flair; the design was one-of-a-kind.
"Well, I’ll be. I didn’t come to the wrong place, did I? You all built this?"
The wintergourd elder beside him nodded slightly. "In response, Master, the children of the clan enjoyed sliding down poles for fun. So we thought, since they love to play like that, perhaps we could build them something to slide on. Then, one of the children suggested we convert the entrance tunnel into a slide, saying it would be more fun. We kept making changes, and... well, this is what it became. We think it’s quite nice, and the children certainly love it."
Aaron Sinclair was speechless.
’Jeez! These wintergourds are really something else.’
’Isn’t this just a Cultivation-world version of a Skyrocket? He had been to his Starborne Mother’s homeworld, Earth, before and had seen Skyrockets at amusement parks. Though there were differences, the basic principle was strikingly similar.’
"It looks pretty good. Does it have a name?"
The elder nodded slightly.
"Yes, Master. We named this slide the Shadow Boat."
Aaron Sinclair thought about it. ’A Skyrocket at an amusement park soars through the open air, while this one burrows straight into the ground. The name Shadow Boat is actually quite fitting.’
"Shadow Boat. That’s very fitting."
As he spoke, he stepped onto a Leaf Ship and sat down. Instantly, a transparent defensive barrier materialized around it. With a WHOOSH, the Leaf Ship shot down the track, heading straight for The Undercity.
The Leaf Ship was powered by a combination of Spirit Stones and Arrays. The entrance to The Undercity had a dual-track system, one for ascending and one for descending, which was very convenient.
The Leaf Ship carried them down, spiraling and looping. Sometimes it shot forward in a straight line, other times it meandered along curves. The whole experience was just like a roller coaster, only faster.
The wintergourds of The Shadowmist Clan could simply transform into black mist and sink into the ground. In other words, they didn’t need entrances to get into The Undercity. So why did they bother building them in the first place?
The first reason was ventilation. They used Arrays to channel air deep into the ground, and these systems required openings. The second reason was farming. After harvesting their various Spiritual Medicines and Spirit Fruits, they had to transport the produce back to The Undercity through the entrances. How would they manage that without them?
Every race has its own unique means of survival, and these wintergourds were no different.
Aaron Sinclair sat in the Leaf Ship.
Overhead, he could see veins of naturally formed ore, making for excellent scenery.
The defensive barrier on the Leaf Ship was active, so its passengers felt no discomfort. The only sensation was a bit of a thrill. ’But in The Cultivation World,’ he thought, ’who’s afraid of a little thrill?’
With a gentle wave of his hand, Aaron Sinclair dispelled the defensive barrier on the Leaf Ship.
The wind now rushed past, WHOOSHING and tousling his hair. He stretched out a hand, feeling the current brush against his palm.
"This wind-like speed... it feels pretty good."
Soon.
They arrived at The Undercity.
The Undercity was indeed bustling with activity now.
The buildings here were constructed among the great stone formations, layered one on top of the other, creating a rich, three-dimensional effect. Suspension bridges crisscrossed high in the air, and streams of fresh spring water cascaded down between the structures.
Although he had no idea how these wintergourds had achieved such feats of architecture, every time he saw it, he couldn’t help but think that it was truly a work of supernatural craftsmanship.
The air here was as fresh as it was outside, with no sense of stuffiness.
"Welcome home, Master."
"Master, welcome home."
Here, countless wintergourds stood in front of every home, welcoming him.
They had waited for so long, and now their Master had finally returned. For these wintergourds, this was an incredibly important day, one worthy of celebrating with song and dance.
These wintergourds of The Shadowmist Clan were not human, but they were a peace-loving, kind, and simple-hearted people.
At that moment, on the suspension bridges high above, countless little wintergourds were carrying flower baskets, gently tossing petals down handful by handful.
