Chapter 623: Chapter 621: Aaron Sinclair Returns to His Original Body

The ice coffin before him hung suspended in mid-air, bound by ancient Wyrm Clan magic from above. Chains stretched from the coffin, anchoring it to the walls of the Underpalace.

Aaron Sinclair stood still, tilting his head back slightly to look at the suspended ice coffin. Even from here, he could feel the frigid air radiating from it.

He stepped into the air and ascended as if climbing a flight of invisible stairs until he plopped down right on top of the ice coffin. Had anyone with a lower Cultivation level sat there, they would have been frozen solid long ago by the coffin’s frigid aura. Aaron, however, felt nothing unusual—just a pleasant, refreshing coolness.

Aaron shifted, planting one hand on the lid beneath him. He lowered his head slightly, gazing at the figure lying inside the ice coffin.

The face before him was his own. It was like looking in a mirror—the two were practically indistinguishable. If there was any difference at all, it was that his current body looked more boyish and young, while his other self in the ice coffin appeared older and more mature.

He gazed at his sleeping self in the coffin, lightly tapping his fingers on the lid. "Looking at it this way, I’m actually pretty damn handsome." ’I have my mother’s eyes and brows, but this face is all from my dear old dad.’

Hearing this, the two wintergourds floating beside him immediately began to suck up.

Bullfrog said, "Does that even need to be said? Master, you’re the most handsome man I’ve ever seen."

Tadpole chimed in, "Master is the number one beauty in the entire Cunmere Realm! When it comes to looks, you’ve never been beaten."

Aaron’s mouth twitched. He reached out and slapped each of them on the forehead. "You two are really good at sucking up, aren’t you?"

"Master, we’re telling the truth."

He glanced at the two wintergourds and said with a smile, "Alright, I’m going to begin the Primordial Spirit Fusion now, and I might not wake up for a while. Don’t just wait around. On the other side of the Underpalace, there’s a pool called Xylos. The Spiritual Liquid inside is an incredibly rare treasure for your Cultivation. You can go to Xylos to cultivate. Drink as much as you can. Whatever you can’t finish, take it with you to share with your clansmen."

At the mention of Xylos, the two wintergourds’ eyes went wide, and they began to drool uncontrollably. Aaron could even hear them slurping their saliva back up.

Once they came to their senses, Bullfrog and Tadpole excitedly bowed to Aaron. "Thank you for your gift, Master! Thank you for your gift!" ’No wonder our old patriarch is so utterly devoted to Master. Following him is the best!’

’Master is just too good to us.’

For the Shadowmist Clan, Spiritual Liquid was a sacred, nourishing treasure one might not encounter once in a century. Whether it was consumed directly or used for Cultivation, it could make their Cultivation level skyrocket.

"Oh, right. At the bottom of Xylos, there’s a piece of Cold Marrow over five thousand years old. Dig it out and take it back for Pip to use."

"Really? Five-thousand-year-old Cold Marrow? Our patriarch can be saved!"

"On behalf of our patriarch, thank you, Master! Thank you! With the Cold Marrow, our patriarch will be able to restore his Cultivation and become young again!"

Tadpole waved its limbs excitedly. "And that’s not all!" it exclaimed. "With the Cold Marrow, the patriarch’s Cultivation will become even stronger!"

Forget five-thousand-year-old Cold Marrow; even a thousand-year-old piece would have been a lifesaver for their old patriarch, whose Cultivation was depleted and whose life was nearing its end.

"Pip has been unfailingly loyal to me. He deserves this," Aaron said. As he spoke, he produced a square box.

"This is for storing the Spiritual Marrow." With a light wave of his hand, two Space Bottles for holding the Spiritual Liquid appeared in the air before him. "Take them."

"Yes, Master."

Taking the treasures he’d given them, Bullfrog and Tadpole were overjoyed. "Master, you can begin the Primordial Spirit Fusion. Tadpole and I will take turns standing guard. If anyone dares to disturb you, we’ll fight to the death to buy you time!"

"That’s right! Unless they step over our dead bodies, no one will harm you, Master!"

Aaron didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

’Still, it was a little touching.’

’Their words might have been flattering, but the two wintergourds were serious. Aaron didn’t doubt their loyalty. However, with their level of Cultivation, if an enemy really did show up, they’d be nothing but cannon fodder. To charge in would be suicide.’

’The thing was, the Shadowmist Clan’s talent lay in reclaiming and farming land. When it came to combat, they were utter weaklings—the kind who couldn’t win a fight against anyone.’

’Everard of the Cunmere Realm was in the past. Now, his home was wherever his parents were.’

’Aaron had no intention of staying in the Cunmere Realm for long; he would return home as soon as he could. However, he planned to take the entire Shadowmist Clan with him. They were an easy clan to support—all they needed was land to farm and Spiritual Medicines to eat. Though Pip and his clansmen were useless in a fight, they were true masters of cultivation and farming. The Spiritual Medicines they grew were potent and matured quickly.’

Once Bullfrog and Tadpole had flown off, Aaron sat cross-legged atop the ice coffin and began to merge with his original body’s Primordial Spirit. As he formed seals with his hands, Demonic Qi and Spiritual Energy began to swirl in circles around him. An Immortal Demon Body, cultivating both paths at once—such a person was a one-in-ten-thousand-year anomaly.

In just a moment, his meditating body slowly faded away, transforming into a powerful surge of energy that shot straight into the ice coffin and entered his original body. At that very instant, a golden radiance bloomed from Aaron’s original body—it was the Merit Golden Light. Though it lasted for only a flash, its brilliance was astonishing.

As Aaron’s Divine Sense swept over his body, he saw this scene and was left completely dumbfounded.

’What the hell? Merit Golden Light? And such a potent one, too! Where did this come from?’

’The thought had barely formed when a memory surfaced: the scene of him absorbing all that Death Resentment Energy back in the Mortal Realm. It must have been a parting gift, courtesy of the Heavenly Dao, from when he left that world.’

’He was a Demon Cultivator, for crying out loud! The Young Master of the Demon Realm! Though he hadn’t returned home yet, he’d have to go back and inherit the family business sooner or later. With all this Merit Golden Light clinging to him, how was he supposed to get by in the Demon Realm? Thankfully, he practiced both Immortal and Demon Cultivation. He could just use the Merit Golden Light for his celestial path. It wouldn’t be an issue.’

Once the layer of Merit Golden Light had been absorbed into his body, the power contained within the core of the Underpalace’s array began to gather. Then, as if it had found an outlet, it surged into Aaron’s sleeping form inside the ice coffin.

「The Primordial Spirit Fusion took seven days.」

By the time it was over, the ice coffin was completely spent, having lost its original luster. It then shattered, the suspended pieces turning to ash that scattered into nothingness. Not only the coffin, but also the chains and the array itself—once Aaron had drained them of all their energy—crumbled to dust.
