Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss
Chapter 597 - 595: Dreaming, He’s Really Dreaming
Chapter 597: Chapter 595: Dreaming, He’s Really Dreaming
"Wow, talk about real-life drama. He’s been cheated on so many times."
"I never would have guessed. Not a single one of the daughters born to his concubines is actually his. It just goes to show you, the Heavenly Dao ensures that what goes around, comes around. No one gets away with anything."
「That night.」
After standing by the window for a while, Aaron Sinclair went back to bed.
Just a short while later, however, he opened his eyes and sat up. He glanced up toward the rafters. There was nothing there. And yet, Aaron Sinclair felt as though a pair of invisible eyes were watching him.
He rubbed his head.
’Am I just imagining things? Or maybe I haven’t been sleeping well these last couple of days.’
’No, that’s not right. I’ve been eating well and sleeping soundly. It’s definitely not because I’m sleep-deprived. I couldn’t have run into something... unclean, could I?’
Aaron Sinclair’s intuition was spot on. There were indeed things hiding in the rafters. It was Bullfrog and Tadpole, the two wintergourds, who had been following him this whole time. However, since Aaron Sinclair had never called for them, the two dared not appear before him or speak.
A curious glint appeared in Aaron Sinclair’s eyes. It wasn’t fear, but excitement. The very idea that such "unclean things" actually existed in the world made him want to catch one for research. ’Strange,’ he thought, ’why is my first instinct to capture it?’
He was certain there was something up there.
Deciding to test his theory, he pointed a finger toward the rafters.
"You things up there, come on out. Let’s talk."
The moment he spoke, Bullfrog and Tadpole, who were huddled in the rafters, glanced at each other. Their forms flew down. Two plumes of black mist appeared, solidifying into two black wintergourds the instant they touched the floor in front of Aaron Sinclair.
"Bullfrog greets you, Young Master."
"Tadpole greets you, Young Master."
Seeing that something had actually appeared, Aaron Sinclair, sitting on his bed, instinctively tensed up. He stared intently at the two figures on the floor, his eyes widening in what could only be described as sheer astonishment.
At first glance, they looked like two wintergourds standing there. On closer inspection, he saw they had eyes, as well as long, slender arms and legs.
"Well... you two are certainly strange-looking."
"This is the first time I’ve ever seen wintergourds with legs."
Aaron Sinclair scooted toward the edge of the bed, his eyes fixed on the two wintergourds on the floor nearby. He pointed at them.
"Are you... sentient wintergourds?"
At this, the two wintergourds placed their hands on their hips and shook their heads in unison.
"We are not wintergourds!"
"That’s right, we’re not!"
This only made Aaron Sinclair more astonished.
"So you can talk, too."
’What kind of spirits are they?’
He glanced up toward the rafters again and couldn’t help but ask, "What are you? What are you doing hiding in my rafters? Don’t you know you’re scaring people late at night?" Though he claimed to be scared, he didn’t feel the slightest bit of fear.
’Even I have to admit, I’m pretty gutsy,’ he thought.
Bullfrog spoke up. "Young Master, I am Bullfrog, and this is Tadpole. We are from The Shadowmist Clan. The Lord sent us to stay by your side and protect you."
Aaron Sinclair raised an eyebrow.
"And who is this Lord you speak of?"
Bullfrog scratched his head, looked at him, and said, "Young Master, the Lord is your mother and father."
"Huh? Are you serious?"
Aaron Sinclair froze for a second. ’These... non-human things were actually sent by my parents to stay with me? This feels so unreal. What else don’t I know?’
He had only called out on a whim, never expecting to actually summon anything.
Aaron Sinclair could sense that these two wintergourds meant him no harm. ’Could they be telling the truth?’ At that moment, he wanted nothing more than to find his parents and demand an explanation. But he stopped himself, thinking, ’What if this is some kind of plot? What if I lead them to my parents and they get hurt?’
So he asked,
"You know my mother and father?"
The two wintergourds nodded vigorously.
Aaron Sinclair gestured with his hand.
"Come on, tell me everything. Let’s have a nice, long chat."
But just when the two wintergourds were ready to tell him everything they knew, the only sounds that came out of their mouths were nonsensical babbling.
"Abba... abba... abba abba..."
The two wintergourds froze.
They tried to speak again.
But still, only "abba abba" came out.
’We’re screwed.’
’Why can’t we talk anymore?’
’Who is it? Who’s messing with us again?’
The next moment, Aaron Sinclair felt an overwhelming drowsiness, his eyelids growing heavy. He yawned, his body went limp, and he collapsed back onto the bed, fast asleep. At that very instant, a figure appeared in his room. It was Celeste Grant.
After materializing, Celeste Grant walked to her son’s bedside. She gently turned him onto his back and pulled the covers up over him. Gazing at her handsome son, she reached out and stroked his head.
"Sleep tight, my son."
As she spoke, she raised her hand and cast a spell using Magic. When her son woke up the next day, he would simply think he’d had a rather bizarre dream.
It wasn’t that she wanted to keep him in the dark, but there was a reason this wisp of his Primordial Spirit had descended into The Mortal Realm. His Cultivation must not be disrupted. A moment ago, she had sensed his Primordial Spirit wavering, which was why she appeared immediately to put him to sleep. This meant that the Cultivation of this wisp of his Primordial Spirit was not yet sufficient to break the Seal. For her son’s own good, she had no choice but to let him sleep it off.
Seeing Celeste Grant appear, the two wintergourds scurried over.
"My Lady... Hey, I can speak again!"
The two wintergourds hugged each other and jumped for joy. "Tadpole, I can talk again!"
"Bullfrog, I can talk again too!"
They both turned to Celeste Grant.
"My Lady, you were the one who cast the Silence Technique on us just now."
Celeste Grant glanced at the two wintergourds with a faint smile. "Bullfrog, Tadpole, from now on, do not reveal yourselves to Annie unless it is an absolute last resort. His Primordial Spirit is currently sealed so he can cultivate in the mortal world. He must not be disturbed, or you risk ruining his Cultivation."
As Celeste Grant finished speaking, the two wintergourds finally understood.
"Wow... so that’s what’s going on."
"No wonder this Young Master has no discernible aura, just like an ordinary mortal. His Primordial Spirit is sealed!"
’In that case, we never should have shown ourselves. If we’d ruined the cultivation of our master’s heir, we’d probably have been turned into soup.’
"My Lady, you can rest assured. We will never appear before the Young Master again."
"That’s right! Even if he calls for us, we won’t come out."
Bullfrog looked conflicted.
"But the Young Master seems to be able to sense our presence."
Celeste Grant smiled.
"Don’t worry. I’ve placed a Forbidden Spell on you both. He won’t be able to sense you anymore. Just keep following him as you were."
Bullfrog and Tadpole, the two wintergourds, nodded eagerly.
"Yes, My Lady."
Celeste Grant sat down on the edge of the bed, gazing at her sleeping son. She reached out to gently caress his face, a tender smile playing on her lips. Then, her form vanished from the room.
「Early the next morning.」
When Aaron Sinclair woke up, he rubbed his head.
He sat on the edge of his bed and glanced up at the rafters. He vaguely remembered having a dream last night, a hazy but surprisingly realistic one.
