Chapter 1311: A Little Closer

As soon as Gu Xiaozhan arrived, the whole gathering became much more restrained.

After all, not many people can remain carefree under the boss’s watchful eyes.

Wang Kangyan raised a toast, "Boss Gu, thank you for your kindness in promoting me."

These were all old employees from when Gu Xiaozhan first started the company. Gu Xiaozhan raised his glass and had a drink with him.

Mu An, to avoid revealing himself, quickly raised his glass too, "I toast to Boss Gu, and to Manager Wang. I hope our chip can hit the market soon and our company flourishes globally."

Wang Kangyan nodded, "It definitely will."

Gu Xiaozhan glanced at the flatterer, "Mu An is a rare talent. Why don’t you sign a long-term contract? Stay with the company and watch us go global."

Ma Bin quickly said, "Mu An, Boss Gu spoke personally, you must stay on."

Wang Kangyan just smiled without saying anything.

Lu Lu felt a bit sour, wondering why everyone was focused on a new employee.

"Boss Gu, I’ve also worked at a Fortune 500 company. I think I could help the company go global, too." She immediately volunteered.

Gu Xiaozhan responded indifferently, "Let’s see your performance going forward."

"I won’t disappoint your expectations, Boss Gu." Lu Lu promptly raised her glass, "Boss Gu, here’s to you."

Gu Xiaozhan didn’t clink glasses with her, instead, he took a sip of his drink and looked at Mu An, "Come over here!"

Why was she sitting so far away?

Mu An whispered, "Aren’t I worried President Mu would find out and be unhappy?"

Sitting at either side of Gu Xiaozhan were Wang Kangyan and Lu Lu, so if Mu An moved over, someone had to give up their seat.

Knowing Mu An’s true identity, Wang Kangyan noticed Lu Lu not budging and immediately got up, "I feel like having a smoke."

"What a coincidence, I want a smoke too." Mu An had no desire to sit next to Gu Xiaozhan.

Wang Kangyan didn’t want to get himself in trouble, "Young people shouldn’t smoke. Sit tight and learn from Boss Gu."

Mu An: "..."

She had no choice but to sit down, "Boss Gu, let’s drink!"

Gu Xiaozhan raised his glass, "You seem to be quite the drinker!"

Mu An, "Thank you for the compliment, Boss Gu. I’m not great at much, but I’m best at eating, not drinking."

Everyone burst out laughing and continued drinking and chatting.

"Boss Gu, about the chip..."

Before Mu An could finish, Gu Xiaozhan interrupted, "After hours, no business talk."

"So, we’re not in a boss-employee relationship now?" Mu An immediately grinned cleverly, "If we’re in an equal and friendly relationship, why are you ordering me around, Boss Gu?"

Gu Xiaozhan leaned back, "If the order you refer to is asking you to sit here, then it’s a boss off the clock wanting to get closer to his employees."

"Boss Gu is truly a good boss." Mu An decided that eating was more practical.

If she continued to bicker with him, Boss Gu would probably win every time.

Lu Lu noticed that as long as Mu An was around, she couldn’t get a word in, so she took this opportunity to talk about childhood memories.
