Noah’s POV

We spend a few more hours going from store to store.

I don’t think it’s legal to do this, but Jennie left her workplace behind to walk with us and shamelessly ogle Silas.

I really hope she doesn’t get fired. Her presence in that store makes it fun and addictive to visit.

We’re finally done shopping and are outside of the mall’s large building to load my things into the car.

"Do you really have to go?" Jennie asks, holding my arm as we stand in front of the car.

"Yes, Jennie. Noah has to go because he doesn’t live in the mall" Siren says in a clipped tone. He’s waiting to get in the car, but Jennie is standing in the way.

"Come back soon, okay?" she says and hugs me like we’re old friends.

"Uh...okay" I say, returning her hug shyly. As a suppressed extrovert, it makes me happy to meet an extrovert who is more confident than I am.

Jennie lets go of me to hug Siren who makes a face that screams ’what is wrong with this young lady’, and then without permission she hugs Silas too.

"I’ll miss you, DILFY" she says as she traps Silas in her hug.

"Do I know you?" Silas asks in confusion and she blows an extravagant kiss that makes me laugh quietly.

"You’ll know me soon...all of me" she says with an exaggerated seductive bite of her lip and Silas puts some distance between their bodies.

"For the love of all things pure and innocent, Jennie go back to work" Siren says with the tired tone of a mother and Jennie twirls playfully, making her dirty blonde pigtails bounce with her movement.

I think I really really like her.

Her smart mouth, sassiness, and even her casual outfit makes her feel so cool.

"You’ve got yourself a fan, Silas" Siren jokes and opens the door for me to go in first. I duck my head and go in first. My movements make me miss out on Silas’s response.

The driver and Silas load my bags of new clothes, heat products, and other essentials into the boot.

"I’ll write it on my calendar to put the special heat blankets when you go into preheat" he says and I nod, blushing at the way he doesn’t care about the alpha and beta in the front seat.

Siren treats omega taboo topics like they should be considered normal...I don’t know how to feel about that.

"Those snacks help with cramps; I don’t have heat cycles anymore, but back then, they were very effective" he continues to talk and I keep nodding, turning even more red.

"Make sure you do what suits you. Those toys are made to feel as real as an alpha’s knot" he gets to the part I don’t want to hear.

Oh, did I mention my Mother-in-law bought me knotting dildos to help me with heat in case I don’t want Elias?

I didn’t? Oh well, it has to be because I’m dying of embarrassment inside my head.

Where the hell am I supposed to hide three different knotting toys?

I don’t see myself using any of them in the future. They’re nothing like Elias’s real one. They don’t throb with need or leak with desire. They are not even long enough!

"...is that okay with you?" Siren asks and I come back to my body as the car jolts from driving over a speedbump.

"Y-yes?" I respond with uncertainty.

"You didn’t hear a word I said, did you, little pink?" he chuckles and my shoulders draw up. I want to melt into the seat.

"No, sorry, I zoned out" I whisper.

"I said, I would love to have you with me when I paint and water the garden. I used to do those activities with my boys, but Elias no longer has time, and Kai only wants to play those video games" he says and I smile softly.

"I would love to do those things with you" I say softly.

"My Damien was never one to sit still, and Darius would end up smearing paint in unmentionable places just for an excuse to touch me" he tsks.

Why does his family sound so cute and lovable?

"The meeting has started, Siren" Silas announces from the passengers’ seat and the warmth in my chest vanishes instantly. Those words remind me of the cruel reality waiting for me.

Siren is really like his name; he made me forget everything else all through this date with him.

"Don’t panic, Noah. As long as you’re innocent, you’re safe with my family" he says and I turn my head to look at his face.

"We are a family of murderers and terrible people, but we are also protectors to those who deserve it" Siren adds and I gulp.

What if they realize how much I believe in my dad and they count me as underserving of their protection, what then?

’Death is your husband, you know what comes next’ my brain supplies and I shake my head.

"What is the meeting like, right now?" Siren asks and Silas passes his phone to the luna instead of saying anything.

Siren mumbles the words on the screen. His expression slowly turns icy cold and he returns the phone to Silas.

The elegant older man with long hair straightens his back and places his hands on his lap, lips pursed and eyes suddenly fixed straight ahead.

The sudden change in his composure scares me, so I shrink into myself and shut down too.

When we arrive at the mansion, Siren gets out of the car and opens the door for me. "Thank you" I mutter, not sure of what to make of his sudden iciness.

He and his son are really the same people; Elias might have dark features and look like his insane father, but on the inside, he’s his mother’s son.

They’re both cold and terrifying.

"You can take your things to the room and then join us, Noah" he orders and leaves with Silas.

Another man joins the driver and they both unload my bags.

Feeling awkward to be left alone with helpers I’m not familiar with, I strike a conversation with the new person. "Um...what’s your name?" I ask and he tilts his head at me.

"Sorry, I was just curious" I say politely and he nods, pointing at his mouth.

When I blink in confusion at his wordless action, he opens his mouth to show me what’s wrong with him. He doesn’t have a tongue.

"Oh my goddess" I startle at the sight of a mouth without a tongue.

"How? I mean w-who...?" I stutter and the driver slams the boot shut, turning his angry glare to me.

"Don’t ask questions, stranger. The Gods punish whoever they want to punish, and you don’t ask questions" the man growls in my face, and I take a step back in fear.

"I was just..."

"Let’s go" he snaps at me. He picks four of my shopping bags and leaves the rest to the tongueless man who gives me a sorry look.

’What on earth is going on?’ I wonder as I walk behind them with my head down. I can’t wait to be by Elias’s side again.

They drop the bags by the door and I avoid their eyes.

"Omega bitch" the driver spits at my shoe and I wince, keeping my lips sealed to save myself from causing trouble.

This isn’t my home and this man is clearly an old employee of the Deus family.

The tongueless man hesitates to leave me, but when the driver calls him by an insult, they leave together.

Once they’re gone, I pick up the bags one by one to take them into Elias’s room. I shut the door when I’m done with all eight bags.

I know I should leave them and head for the meeting room, but the encounter with the driver has reminded me of my place here.

I might be the omega Elias publicly claims, but that’s just all I am...a possession.

To soothe the new injury, I go into the bathroom, take the spit stained shoes off, and dump them by the bathtub.

I don’t care about the stain trail I leave on Elias’s rug; I just return to the room and sort out my things.

I put my pink clothes in the wardrobe, adding some color to Elias’s black and neutral colored arrangement.

Out of spite, I place my new earphones on the shelf where Elias keeps his rocks, and then I glare at the shelf of watches.

"I should put the dildos there" I say out loud and grimace at myself for my own ridiculous idea.

"Ugh" I groan and drag myself out of the room.

It takes me a while to find the meeting room. The maids all avoid me and I keep to myself. This is the first time I’m realizing that I’m not liked by the people within these walls.

I stop to take a breath of courage at the door, and just as I reach out to open it, the door swings open to reveal a smirking Damien.

He looks like he did on the day they attacked my home.

"What do you know? The star of this show is here" he says over his shoulder and Elias shows up behind him.

"W-what’s going on?" I ask.

"We’re going to find Conan" Elias answers and my breath gets struck in my throat.

"What?" I ask in disbelief.
